For medical history, the Morbid Anatomy Anthology has several books that helped fill the void The Knick left. They have Kindle editions but they're useless because they scanned the pages of the hardcover books so the text is tiny and unreadable. Worth getting the hardcovers; the illustrations are gorgeous. I really liked:

They already exist!
I've gifted this one before.
Might be too late but if you can find something maybe by Kumada Poohsuke? His work is more comical in nature. Cauro Hige's Bearutus might be an option too since that is more artbook like and is available on Amazon US.
Of other artbooks I only know of Jiraiya's 1998-2012 and the other just titled "Jiraiya", both of which have long been sold out though :/ There is also Jiraiya's Caveman Guu which is a slightly humorous 16 page manga.
There is also Mentaiko's poster/art book. That is available via Amazon US.
I'm sure Tagame has some artbooks but not sure if his art is too extreme for your friend if they don't like Tom of Finland or if they are even available to buy.
If he has a particular artist he likes it would probably be best to find buyable work from them if you haven't already.
