So a serious answer: tape. I wouldnt suggest gloves. Tape helps a LOT or you could use wrist wraps.

Not sure why people are being so unhelpful

How much do you want to spend? Rehbands and SBDs are the two big names in knee sleeves (they'll run you probably $80-$90 though), but I hear very good things about the Mark Bell knee sleeves also (and they're a bit cheaper).

Brandon Campbell has good reviews of all 3 on YouTube.

Depends on what you want them for. I got these ones from Amazon for under $10 and I've been totally happy with them! I use them for deadlifts mainly, and also front squats for extra mobility.

However, I also have Versa Grips which were $56 at the time, and I love them as well! I use them for more general pulling movements, like lat pull downs, pull ups, rows, etc.

So if you want straps specifically for deadlifts, go with simple ones. If you want to do a lot of things with them, you might want ones that are more of the Versa Grip style (because you can use the grips with one hand and don't have to wrap)

I’ve got a pair of these there pretty easy to use but a little pricey. For shoes I have the Velaasa Strakes. It’s a great show with a wooden heel and there’s also a code for 20% off somewhere.

A2S2 W3D4. OHP is fine? AMRAP set is back to where it was in January when I stopped training it, so that's cool. Paused squats had a ridiculous rep PR. Assistance and cardio were unremarkable.

Westside Vs The World was pretty cool.

Oh, if any small people (or at least people with dainty wrists) would like a set of 60cm Serious Steel figure 8 straps, let me know. I bought a set and it turns out I don't like how they fit. I've got 6.5" wrists and I think I should've gotten a size up.

I use Rogue wraps

And I use these sleeves and like them very much

Also, you didn’t ask but if you are interested in the future, this belt is alright:

Any opinions on wrist wraps? How about these? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JVNBNFC/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1

I like bike gloves for lifting because the area where normal lifting gloves end on my fingers are already extra susceptible to calluses and it's just painful when the fabric/skin difference is there.

straps have also been immensely helpful - you can wrap the bar the entire width of your hand without bumping up the thickness much.

haven't bought cobra grips yet but I fantasize about them periodically.

If you end up wanting to try some wrist wraps for extra support, I'm running a mega sale right now on my new ones. I can also share a code with redditors for an extra $2 off making them only 7.99-8.99 shipped with prime. They're a higher quality material than the competition (Rogue, etc) so my 12" wrap offers tons of support without the bulk of a longer wrap. Still very comfortable also.

EDIT - yes, I'm a L1 CrossFit coach... Not spamming.

Okay, ladies and gents, I finally purchased some knee sleeves. Based on a sale and some recommendations, I bought Slingshot STrong Sleeves. I will update on how they work as I get to use them. I will say two things, however. First, holy hell are they ever tight (which I'm taking to be a good thing). I measured and bought a large and they're still close to impossible to get on by myself. Second, I can immediately tell a difference! I can accomplish a pistol squat on a sleeved knee but not on the other (barely fail at the bottom).

I remember looking into getting Rehbands a year or two ago, and back then there didn't seem to be many alternatives with the same material and thickness. However, I did a quick search this weekend and now there are a bunch of Rehband copycats available on Amazon.

Neoprene, 7mm thick, prices in USD at time of post for two knee sleeves (for reference Rehbands are around $80 for a pair right now):

I have no idea what is going on, and I'm not a PT or anything like that, but I found relief for my shoulder issues with compression sleeves and properly warming up the muscles. Overhead lunges with a light kettlebell to strengthen the shoulders helped a bunch too. Take it with a grain of salt, because like I said, I have no idea what your specific issue is, but those things fixed my issue.

Agree with the wrist wrap comment. Mine bother me a lot and I just bought these and they make a huge difference. I can now work out with little to no pain.

u/mirinfashion · 1 pointr/homegym

Would recommend the same, their CS is great. Had to replace them a couple of times. I bought the set that includes wrist wraps and lifting straps, ends up being cheaper and they carry a lifetime warranty. I'm not sure why they don't advertise it for these.

Oh, alright then. My lifts are still beginner - low intermediate level so I should be fine with it I guess.

What brand of straps/wraps should I look into? Would these get the job done?

u/AKhighlander · 1 pointr/HighlandGames

My preference is to use a leather work glove with the thumb cut off. I then put stretchy tape.... like this.... on my thumb

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LXI43NV/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510608063&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=lift+rx+tape&dpPl=1&dpID=51CWpgUe%2BlL&ref=plSrch

Everyone has their own thing. People throw far with a full glove, just tape, or barehanded. Keep throwing and you'll figure out what works.

I had the unilateral pain when I started. I think it's just the new movement and increased work load. I think you'll just adapt overtime. I don't have that issue with any significance now.

Good luck and have fun!

has anyone tried these:

I am curious what triple ply means, what they’re made of, etc

These are the best wrist wraps (especially for benching) that I have ever used: Dark Iron Fitness. And right now that are half price! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0771WMP9S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_16TNkaQ4yfAVk

had my first really rough session in wraps last night. i have been primarily self-wrapping but an experienced equipped guy offered to wrap me and i took him up on it. very tight wrap and tbh it wrecked my shit and i failed a 95% weight twice in a row (like the third and fourth training squat i've failed in the last 3 years). I then went back to a self-wrap and hit 90% for a triple to salvage the day. it was much easier to get my knees and hips out - the previous sets just felt like my knees were hitting an immovable object.

i'm ~7 weeks out so i'm thinking about just doing a self-wrap on meet day unless i figure out a consistent wrap guy i can train with over the next couple weeks. I know on meet day I can at least get my handler to help pre-roll the wraps which should save some time and energy but i'm thinking about investing in a wrap roller. All the powerlifting-specific ones seem silly expensive. This is the cheapest i've found (the Titan version is $300 lol). On the other hand though its obviously a dead simple design and there are boxing/MMA wrap rollers that are dirt cheap like this one and this one. Anyone have experience with wrap rollers? At $20 its "might as well" territory for me but for $120 i'd question it.

Versa Gripps

The best. I didn't chalk once through any of MURPH. Ripping never once crossed my mind. The only problem with them is they are hard to turn your hand over on top of the bar doing muscle ups. Anything hanging under the bar though... money.
