I'm so sorry OP! Maybe in the future try an open heated curler? They look a little scary, but I find them to be really pleasant feeling and the curl is great. Can't rip hairs out if they're not clamped!

That's the one I have and I love it! I actually got it because the last post I saw like yours made me too afraid to use my clamp curler

u/LadyVagrant · 27 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have a few tricks to keep the curl in my super-straight lashes:

  • use waterproof mascara

  • Use a really good curler like Shu Uemura's or Shiseido's before putting on the mascara. Make sure you keep the curler clamped down for at least 5 seconds

  • apply waterproof liquid eyeliner, clear mascara, or a lash gel (I like Ardell's) to your lashes before you curl them. These products act just like hair gel by giving your lashes some 'grip' and making them easier to shape.

  • use a heated eyelash curler after you put on your mascara. I prefer wand-type heated lash curlers like Panasonic's. You hold the heated portion to your lashes while pushing them up. This sets the curl so that it will last all day.

Just be sure to use a wetter, waterproof formula (Maybelline's are ideal) since drier, creamier formulas tend to just flake and melt off when you use a heated curler on them. The wetter formulas will dry harder (kinda like how gel will dry if you hit it with a hairdryer).

You can also use a heated spoon or your finger to do the same thing if you don't want to buy a separate device (though they are pretty cheap).

There are a couple of things you can do to avoid it. First, practice practice practice. Mascara takes a lot of getting used to. Second, if you're having trouble with them going different directions, try combing them out first. You can get an eyelash comb like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Tweezerman-1054-r-Folding-Eyelash-Comb/dp/B002HK2GI0 to help keep them in line. Third, don't lay it on too thick! Even the lightest mascara will clump up if you put on too much. Lastly, a lot of it has to do with the formula of the mascara. Some mascaras will just clump up no matter how well you apply it. A lot of people really like covergirl's clump crusher formula. It's a good, cheap go to that will help you get rid of clumps.

I hope that helps!

u/auralgasm · 10 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Comb through your lashes after you put mascara on with a spare spoolie (you can buy bulk packs on Amazon) or an eyelash comb and it should take care of any spidery issues!

I also have a small-sized one, and seriously-- it is the only mascara I have ever been able to wear, let alone love! It's the only one that doesn't irritate my eyes or flake all over the place, or turn me into a raccoon. (I have started using an eyelash comb to get rid of any clumps because I've always hated clumps, but I think the mascara rocks!)

Thanks for this! I had no idea a comb like this existed, but I just ordered this tweezerman version and it was prime eligible. Woo hoo!

I like this one from Tweezerman! The teeth are pretty fine and
they're pointed at the tip, so it does a good job of separating.

Aww, congratulations on winning the lottery :) This is so nice of you. Thank you for hosting~

My family always plays scratch off tickets, but the max we have ever won was 20 lol. We always end up losing more than we ever did winning. I would personally like this mini eyelash curler if I get picked. (Or any half lash curler, really!) I can't get my outer and inner lashes on different eyes so that would be perfect for me. :)

Does anyone have any advice on how to get your concealer to stop creasing? It's always been a problem and I'm not sure what to do.
u/Felix--Felicis · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I'm considering getting a heated eyelash curler (perhaps this one). Every time I try to apply top liner, my curler always ruins/smudges the line so I thought this might be a good solution. I would love to hear some thoughts and opinions on heated curlers!

u/jiyounglife · 3 pointsr/abdiscussion

I laughed at froggy eyeballs. LOL

Have you tried sectional eyelash curlers like this?

u/rachee18 · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Ive not found an eyelash curler that works perfectly for my eyes but I find those partial curlers (Koji has one and Shu Uemura has one too) does a good job getting those inner and outer corners. I find that using it on its own helps me get the exact curl I want since I can get really close to my lashline.

Downside is its definitely more time consuming but perfectly curled lashes are something I obsess over so I guess I dont mind :p

u/LadySkywalker · 3 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

Alright, first...Happy Early Birthday!!!

Now on to face things.

Skincare

First of all you should check out r/skincareaddiction. Even if you don't want to join the community the FAQ is great.

What I do for my normal/oily skin is every morning and every night I wash with CeraVe Foaming Face Wash which is recommended for oilier skin. So you might want to check that out.

Every 3 days or so I exfoliate with Epicuren which is just from my mom's shop but it's a nice deep scrubs without being too abrasive. You don't want abrasive like with say St. Ive Apricot scrub because you're actually tearing your skin and that's just not very nice. You want to gently exfoliate.

Once a week I use a LUSH face mask. My favorite is Love Lettuce because it's refreshing and exfoliating. Second favorite is definitely Cupcake. I feel so clean and bright after it.

Wipe off your makeup before you go to bed. It's bad for your skin and bad for your sheets. Whatever you do to take it off, just get it off. I use vaseline. It's cheap and easy on my sensitive skin.

Clean your brushes. Clean them. Seriously. What I do is after every makeup application I get a tissue and something with and edge like the edge of my dresser and I wipe the brush over the tissue over the edge to get all the excess makeup out. Then every 2 weeks I do a deep clean. Get a bar of some kind (towel rack, clothes hanger) and rubber bands. Get some warm, running water, and either some baby shampoo or some brush cleaner (though honestly I just use shampoo) and wet your brushes, bristles pointing downwards always. You don't want to get water trapped inside the little metal/plastic attaching ring thingy. Add a dot of shampoo to your hand and swish that brush around. It'll be gross. Good. You'll always remember to do it now that you know how gross your brushes get. Rinse bristles down. Dry bristles down by wrapping the rubber band around the handle and attaching to your rod/hanger.

Makeup

This is what I cannot live without

  1. Naked Basics. This is the best $27 I have ever spent in my life. I use it every single friggin day. All of the colors are perfect neutral mattes from lightest light to darkest dark. I even use one of the colors to fill my eyebrows. It's perfect.

  2. Wet n Wild Liquid Liner. I've become a liquid liner addict. It really helps make it look like I have eyelashes. The brush is very firm and very thin so I always end up with a line where I want it.

  3. Urban Decay 24/7 glide on liner in Smoke. I have very light eye lashes. So I tight line.. Trust me. You want to tight line.

  4. Clump Crusher I love this mascara. It really is non-clumping and while it doesn't give me the longest lashes in the world it makes them look fuller because there's no clumps.

  5. Smashbox BB Cream. This is just the BB cream I use. It does what all the BB creams do but I happen to match the 'Fair' color very well.

  6. Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This shit smells like chocolate. I'm not even joking. I'm new to bronzer, but it's perfect for my skin tone.

  7. Sephora Blush. I'm still learning about blushes but I like that this one is matte. I'm not a sparkle face girl.

  8. Lipstick. I have too many to choose. See this comment I did where I swatch and rated every lipstick I have.

  9. E.L.F eye shadow primer You need primer. No. You need it.

    Makeup For You

So if you're just starting out again you don't want to go spending a stupid amount of money before you figure out what you like. So here are my suggestions for you specifically.

  10. Eyeshadow. Now if you can afford it, I highly recommend Urban Decay Naked Basics. But that's $27. So in lieu of that I suggest you get some Wet n Wild Eyeshadows. Maybe this one or this one.

  11. Eye shadow primer. Go to target and find the ELF section and get primer. It's a dollar and it will make your eye shadow amazing. No reapplying no smudging no creasing. Just perfect perfect eyes. It comes in other colors too, you may want to get a shade darker if you want to match your skin tone.

  12. Eyeliner. I would say get a pencil in either black or dark brown. I don't know if liquid liner is right for your eye shape but if you want to give it a go then you do whatever you want; it's your face.

  13. Eyelashes. Get a lash curler. Two to three curls and you should be good. I'd say black mascara for you.

  14. Eyebrows. I'm not an eyebrow expert but you're probably going to want to shape and fill in your eye brows (unless you love them just the way they are). For shape I'd go to a professional first before you wax at home or go plucking away. Then for filling in you can just use an eyebrow kit. Although I've heard complaint that dark eyebrows are the hardest to find a matching color for :(

  15. BB Cream. I hear Etude house kicks butt and it won't break your bank.

  16. Concealer. I love Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Concealer it's awesome. You want to blend that stuff too, don't just dot it on.

  17. Blush. I think maybe a peachy blush but pictures don't always show stuff right for skin tone so maybe you need pink. I can't really tell.

  18. Bronzer. You've got great cheek bones. I would skip this for now. Unless you're super gungho in which case: I'd check out The Balm.

  19. Lipstick. Cheap and amazing lipstick is NYX and I think a nice natural shade would look great on you. But seriously, if you live near an ulta, nyx is like $3.99-$5.99 for lipstick. It's amazing. Or everyone goes gaga for these Etude House Bunny Glosses.

Anyway, I think you look really great and that's the best start is being confident and having a natural beauty. Also I love your hair. But if you have any questions just let me know :)
u/Asiyah9 · 3 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I can’t seem to use regular eyelash curlers anymore without pinching my eyelids so I bought this one from a Mitsuwa market near me: https://www.amazon.com/KOJI-Accent-Curler-No-100-2CR0110/dp/B000FQSBJG/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?keywords=koji+eyelash+curler&qid=1574175576&sprefix=koji+eyel&sr=8-9&utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

It took just a little bit to get used to since it’s smaller, but I get all of my eyelashes now. I also like how I can control placement of the curler on my lashes and gently curl them at the base, midpoint, and tips.

u/ladydickens · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I buy my falsies on Amazon, 20 pairs for $3 or so. Shipping takes about a month but it's free. They're not like, amazing quality but they're great and I get two uses out of them - I could probably get more but because they're so inexpensive I don't sweat it. Anyways I just placed an order last night and I was looking through the different styles - style 6 (can be found when you go to change the color) seems like it's what you're looking for. Here's the link! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00538TSMU/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1419550410&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX200_QL40

u/daytwi · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Eesh!

Yeah I definitely prefer curlers that have rounded silicone pads that have a little give and cushioning to them rather than the cheaper ones that have foam or just hard plastic.

Another option is a heated curler like the Panasonic Curling Wand (http://amzn.com/B0009DT39W) which doesn't clamp down at all, you just hold it up and under your freshly mascara'd lashes (while they're still wet) and it helps them dry with some lift to the edges. It doesn't provide the same sort of curl as a traditional curler but definitely more than just mascara on its own. Just a thought, can you tell I'm passionate about eyelash curlers? ;) Good luck!

If I don't use an eyelash curler, the Dolly Wink Long (my favorite mascara for the past year and a half) is pretty meh, but once I started using a heated eyelash curler like this, and it makes my eyelashes exactly what I want them to be.

You know, I tried out the neutral palette thing for a while and it's great for some occasions. But it's so much fun working with colors!

The 252 was on sale on Amazon when I bought it for $20. It was a really brief dip in price and I thought "there's never a better time!"

Excessive? Probably. I see a lot of nearly the same shades repeated in the palette. I would say whatever you're comfortable spending would really be the factor in this. It's not excessively priced for $26 (with prime) and I like the variety.

I think if you had a good eyeshadow base to fall back on, getting a smaller palette wouldn't be a problem. For me, this is my eyeshadow palette. The only one, until I can get more (there was a thief let loose), so spending $20 on the 252 was a good investment for me.

u/orangexmelon · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I've seen my friend use one of these eyelash curlers made out of plastic: https://www.amazon.com/JAPONESQUE-Curl-Eyelash-Curler-Pink/dp/B002UXRE4U

u/Kainiaa · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I have the Coastal Scents 252 color palette. You can usually find it on Amazon around $30 and the colors are great. Just make sure you prime and use a white base beforehand and they stick beautifully. :)

u/FURYOFCAPSLOCK · 2 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Btw booboo, you want this eyelash curler. I've been curling my lashes for a loooong time and this one beats all of them. My lashes stay sky high for over 24 hours! Just curl each side for 2 minutes each. EDIT: also, to grow your lashes out big time, this stuff is like a MIRACLE. It made my lashes grow so long I was considering trimming them up! And quickly too! And the price just dropped down 50% for some reason, so now's a good time to get it. Just sweep it over the root of your lashes as if applying eyeliner at night before bed after you wash your face and take all your make up off (very important to make sure 100% of your mascara is removed so this stuff can work properly). Brb ordering another bottle....

I have straight asian lashes and had such a hard time with getting them to hold a curl until I found my two holy grails!

  1. I use a heated eyelash curler, I use this one
  2. Then I use this Etude House Primer after I curl my lashes and it holds the shape up so well!
  3. After I let the primer dry for a few minutes, I just layer it on with whatever mascara I like

u/apbethyname · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

My best guess would be a precision eyelash curler

u/kerokerolle · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I use a different mini eyelash curler since I have trouble getting enough lashes to curl with the standard size ones. I think it’s cause my eye is just shaped different plus the fact that I have short scrubby lashes, the small ones let me get in where I want to more easily. I like mine! I just have to curl in 3 segments for one eye.

The one I have looks more like the typical eyelash curler just shorter, like this one: shu uemura mini eyelash curler https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002V1FYJS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Fd.0Db9T0G7JM

u/spunky-omelette · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Question: I like curling my lashes, but I'm always afraid I'm damaging them. I'm currently using the Japoneque Go Curler but I have to do it a few times at different angles to get it to work for me, all the while afraid I'm secretly damaging my eyelashes. :(

What curler do you use?

Yay! I feel like I have to specify lash-type anytime mascara comes up because it's so very dependent on length, thickness, etc. Mascara reviews are pretty useless to me if they don't include that... As for lash curler, I've been using this Tweezerman LTD Deluxe Metal Eyelash Curler (https://www.amazon.com/Tweezerman-Deluxe-Metal-Eyelash-Curler/dp/B007SA3CD2/ref=pd_sbs_194_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B007SA3CD2&pd_rd_r=CGN068Y8TX7JYFR5WM77&pd_rd_w=WXlXW&pd_rd_wg=MP6uV&psc=1&refRID=CGN068Y8TX7JYFR5WM77) for a while (~9 months) and while I like it, there's probably something better for me out there that I just haven't found/ wanted to spend on. I have quite large, round, slightly downturned and slightly hooded eyes so it takes some maneuvering to get my inner/outer corner lashes (and I almost never get both) :( I've tried the shu uemura curler and didn't feel it was worth the hype or $$

what about you?? I'm down to try a new one. I hate when my lashes come out with more of a dent/fold/crease than a real curl, if that makes sense. and what are some other mascaras that have worked for you?

u/blue_eyedsweetie · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

I think this is kind of cool . I'm always getting mascara below my bottom lashes.

Best curler I've ever used, hands down: Seki Edge Total Control. I have 5 backups if that's any indication of how much I love it. No edges to pinch skin, fits if you have a pretty flat eye shape and profile, and easy to get right into the base.

I curl, apply a good mascara, and that's it.

Mascaras seem like such a personal preference. For me, these have held up a curl:
-K-Palette 1-Day Keep Base (primer) works with any mascara but can glue your lashes together if you overapply.
-Urban Decay Cannonball
-Mally Volumizing Waterproof
-Stila Stay All Day Waterproof

I'd start with those. I've tried a million mascaras, even the "curling" ones like Sephora Outrageous Curl and Dior Overcurl and K-Palette Lash Perm, and they were all fails.

My home makeup bag is something else but what i keep in my hoarder purse for work is:

  • Kanebo 38 degree mascara worth every penny, they will have to pry it out of my cold dead hands. It is the best mascara ever. Washes off like a dream.
  • The mini shu uemura eye curler, not the s curler, the old one that isn't sold any more. I got it when it came out and a bunch of replacement pads. I think when this one bites it and doesn't feel as springy i will switch to the s curler.
  • Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle
  • Lately, the Chanel les beiges limited edition summer powder thingie in the lighter pink shade although usually is either a blush or bronzer, Bobbi Brown Antiguais another one in rotation
  • a shu uemura pressed powder if i get oily but apparently they no longer sell the purple so it is off to laura mercier or mufe
  • Hema kabuki brush
  • Chantecaille eyeliner in bronze
  • assorted lip balms, my fave is Bioderma

Dressed All Over and Zesty Mordant~

I would like these Japanese doll fringe bangs clip. It's very cheap and you still have money left over to gift someone else!

EDIT:

New Item There's still some left to gift other people~

u/kramdiw · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

The eyelash curler is only $2.07 and it's not an add on unless you choose the more expensive one from the U.S.

The feng shui coins are cheap enough as well...

u/iRayneMoon · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Shu Uemura Mini Eyelash Curler is pretty good because it can catch lashes on the edges that larger curlers miss. Shu Uemura Regular Eyelash Curler is still pretty great also.

They even sell heated eyelash curlers now. It's similar to how you heat style your regular hair, but for eyelashes. I've never tried one, but apparently some people have had pretty great results.

THIS THINGY,
GREAT CONTEST!! HAPPY CAKE DAY!!

u/bitch_is_cray_cray · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Item on ze wishlist. Definitely foundation, preferably mineral powder because my face is so wishy washy sometimes - never know if I'll need it! Lip balm aaaaaaand make up remover. I don't normally play with my eyes, mascara's fun and all that but it's not a necessity and it's a female canine to remove! Thanks a lot for the tea cup contest! I can't wait till the day I get a job and credit card so I can do my own glamming :)

u/tsukiii · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I squeeze once at the base, then I move along the lash, squeezing 3 or 4 more times to get more of an even curl.

I used to use a heated eyelash curler like this and it worked really well... but it kept running out of battery and I got lazy.

u/strawberryslutcakes · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I had this problem until I bought this eyelash curler. It's the fucking bomb. No other one really works for me!

u/ladypau29 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

May I suggest a good lash comb? This one's the one I use and it's been a game changer. My favorite mascara is Essence Lash Princess, the teal tube. Really holds a curl but you definitely have to comb them through after.

u/stopthebefts · 1 pointr/HaircareScience

You should order them in the big multi-packs from Ebay or Amazon, which ship directly from Asian countries like China, so you get ~identical lashes at a huge discount, like $1.50 for 10 pairs with shipping. Pick one that has individual lashes so you can easily layer on mascara, like the set on the right. You can mount them on the edge of a table or something so you can apply the mascara. To reduce another variable in the experimental design, you should use single-use mascara wands to apply the mascara, so you're just seeing the lengthening effects of the mascara formula, and limit the amount of times you go over the lashes with a specific mascara. Then maybe just measure how long the lashes are after application. I wouldn't use real people because there are too many variables.

Has anyone ever used the Seki Edge Total Control Eyelash Curler or any brand of eyelash curler that you hold perpendicular to your face? I saw it (or something similar) once in a Korean MUA video (I think it was Jungsaemmool). What did you think? Do you know of any other brands (or know what words I should Google to find this type of eyelash curler)? TIA.

edit: add detail

u/starfuzion · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I start my routine the night before. In the shower, I use a plain Ivory bath wash to take most of my makeup off, and then I follow that with an actual wash using mandelic acid cleaner.

After I dry off, I use mandelic acid toner and follow that up with Cerave AM lotion. I shower at night... so oops. But it's what I have.

In the morning, I like to rinse my face with just water and a washcloth, then I reapply toner and lotion.

A couple of times a week I use a mandelic acid peel, as needed or as I remember.

It's nothing fancy, but it keeps me from looking like a pizza!

I don't know how to shorten an amazon link and Ilovethedaisypup !

u/daisyismydog · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Thank you for entering!

There are two ways to shorten an Amazon link. First, you can cut it off after the B000 stuff. So, for example, this would work: http://www.amazon.com/Sally-Hansen-Beauty-Eye-Double-Eyelash/dp/B004KRYS2U/

Second, to the right of the picture, directly underneath the description, is a little link that says "share" and you can click that and it will give you a shortlink to the item.

What is this magic? They'll be at my house in two days. Holy shit I love Amazon Prime. Here, I'll return the favor: I swear by this eyeshadow palette. 252 colors for $30, and if you really love one just order a pot of that one off their website.

I Heart Drugstore Makeup :)

  1. Revlon!
  2. Face: Revlon BB Cream, cheeks: Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls, lips: Soft Matte Lip Cream (Like really. The best.)
  3. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. Thanks for the 10 minutes of lovely lip colour!
  4. Anything by NYC! Okay not so much the foundations. But really great lip and eye products for under $5 is awesome :)
  5. I don't know if they're just in Canada, but Outdoor Girl is a brand I see a lot in dollar stores here, and what I've tried has been really nice! Even their brush set is great. Good stuff, good value.
  6. Nail stickers! You could pay $8 for less than a week of nail polish, or $5 for an entire bottle... I mean, they can be cute and all but really.

  7. I don't have any high end products, so I don't really know! But I've tried some Dior face powder at a counter and thought that my Almay powder was much nicer :)
  8. New York Color Smooch Proof Lip Stain :( I wanted to believe.

  9. This NYX Cosmetics Eyebrow Kit!
  10. Definitely the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler!! My eyelashes just won't give in to any old curler. Shu is my last hope for pretty lashes.

This was so hard! Thanks for the contest, I'm having fun looking through all the answers :)
u/something_anything · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

I wish for these lashes! I love accentuating my eyes when doing my makeup, and I think these will help a lot :)

I had this issue and I got an eyelash rake (IDK what it's called but it looks like this https://www.amazon.com/Docolor-Eyelash-Curlers-Applicator-Grooming/dp/B01G1HC3H8?th=1). I didn't get that brand but it works super well!

u/LadyTargaryen_ · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Target is a superstore chain here in the US. It's a type of store that has everything - cosmetics, clothing, electronics, as well as a grocery. If you've heard of WalMart, it's exactly like that. While I can't name any similar chains in Norway, here is an example of a lash comb, and here is an example of a lash curler.

Hope you're able to find what you need. By the way, your eyes are lovely!

u/miscommunication_me · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

Yay for Wishful Wednesday! I've never tried wearing fake eyelashes before and I really want to start (especially since I've been experimenting with smokey eyes). This set looks good and I could get a lot of practice. Thank you!

My favorite movie is What Dreams May Come. I feel awkward saying I'd like to win for myself, but I would. Even though my sister would probably end up trying to steal half of it and my kids might do what they've done to my other make- up and ruin half of it lol

Seeing as I'm terrible at sprouting my own long beautiful lashes, I've always wanted to try these: http://www.amazon.com/Pairs-Regular-Thick-Eyelashes-Style/dp/B00538TSMU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=16OKNNBGQV58A&coliid=I394MYTC3RKJJY
