Hi! I suffered from oily sensitive skin problems too before! Here's the routine I followed and I noticed a big difference:

Face Wash (2 times a day): I used simple korean face washes and these worked wonders for me! You can find really cheap face washes at Marshalls/TJ Maxx or at Amazon. Here's a good brand: https://www.amazon.com/Etude-House-Baking-Powder-Cleansing/dp/B00819F4OO/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1520014584&sr=8-1&keywords=korean+baking+soda+face+wash

Toner (2 times a day): SUPER IMPORTANT! I used alcohol free which is super important if you have sensitive skin. I highly recommend this toner I still use it to this day and my skin has calmed a lot and become so soft. You can get this on amazon or any local stores really like Sprouts or even Marshalls TJ Maxx. Link: https://www.amazon.com/Thayers-Alcohol-Free-Petal-Witch-Hazel/dp/B007HD570Q/ref=sr_1_3_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1520014674&sr=1-3&keywords=thayers

Moisturize (2 times a day): I know it seems weird to moisturize an oily face but trust me its needed. Sometimes your skin might be super oily since its not receiving enough moisture and thus overcompensates by producing a bunch of oil (I've heard this before I'm not a doctor though). You just can't use super creamy moisturizers. This is my go to really light moisturizer. I prefer gel moisturizers since they don't feel as heavy on my face and provide a good balance to my skin. Link: https://www.amazon.com/MIZON-Snail-Recovery-Cream-Count/dp/B00NTR9B6A/ref=sr_1_6_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1520014798&sr=1-6&keywords=mizon+snail

Face Mask (once or twice a week): Since you have sensitive skin I don't recommend using Charcoal as it might be too harsh. I instead use any exfoilating (or non exfoliating) masks with tumeric. It's a great anti inflammatory perfect for sensitive skin. I use this one personally: https://www.amazon.com/YLLO-Turmeric-Scrub-Chickpea-Exfoliant/dp/B0764M4MWT/ref=sr_1_13_sspa?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1520014932&sr=1-13-spons&keywords=tumeric+mask&psc=1

Again you just have to experiment with what works best for your skin. It's a difficult process but I'm sure you'll find a way. Sorry for the really long post but I hope this helps! :)

You actually have really pretty skin and beautiful eyes :)

I would try this Salicylic acid as it works better than others for me. The next step up is a home peel and if that does not get results a doctor can do a more extensive deep peel or use a fractional laser. You can read reviews for both peels and laser skin treatment at Real Self.

u/lizerpetty · 3 pointsr/BravoRealHousewives

I’m so sorry about the rosacea you beautiful ladies. I have some tips that may help:
I tried fractional laser for my broken capillaries, and it didn’t do anything except give me a scar from a blister I got.

  1. l- lysine helps strengthen blood vessel walls.

  2. fungal acne safe routine:
Check your skin care products on www.skincarisma.com and make sure they are fungal acne safe.

  3. the Ordinary’s Alpha Arbutin:
    https://www.beautylish.com/s/the-ordinary-alpha-arbutin-2-ha
It has a cooling effect on the skin (skin carisma says this is not fungal acne safe, but it doesn’t give me any issues.)

  4. scrape your face: yeah I don’t know why this helps so much but it does. Gently scrape the gunk off your face with this thingy:

    Also good for KP.

  5. Squaline oil: I use the one from the ordinary, but if you search reddit for squaline oil you will find other recommendations.

After looking at your skincare and assuming you are a dry/normal skin type as you've posted, your routine is very invasive and more suited for an acne prone oily skin. The products you use are excellent because they are dermatologically effective, but you need to cool it with all the chemicals morning and night.

  1. You shouldn't be worrying about what kind of cleanser you use but what kind of moisturiser you use for different seasons. Skin is drier during the winter so you need to use a richer moisturiser. And as you have pale skin it is also important you use a fitting moisturiser for the summer. For your skin type I recommend the hydrating cleanser, the foaming cleanser will be too drying.
  2. BHA/AHA/Retinoids are too invasive for your eye area, stay clear from your eye area unless its an eye cream specifically for your under eyes. The formulation for under eyes and face is slightly different as your under eyes are more sensitive than the rest of your face, do this and you will have less wrinkles in the long run. If you want a good eye cream for dark circles I recommend this french brand.
  3. Sure you can use BHA and AHA on your body but thats just a waste of money and time. The products you use on your face will have little to no effect on your body because the skin on your body is more thicker and resilient. I recommend exfoliating with a naturally derived product and moisturise your body as well because the moisture in your body's skin is as much important as your face. Mixing a few drops of rosehip oil to your moisturiser should help lighten the acne scars lighten over time.
  4. I don't know what kind of skin products you mean, but simplicity is best. Use a moisturiser at night and then sunscreen on top during the day.
  5. You don't need to lotion your whole body because your skin naturally produces oils to protect and moisturise itself. Make sure you do not shower or bathe in hot water because it strips your body from these natural oils, but if you have dry skin use the CeraVe lotion.
  6. You will be more efficient and less messy as you become used to cleansing, grow a pair and suck it up.
  7. Never self medicate or diagnose yourself with products you've researched on the internet, if you have rashes on your beard it is most likely because of the type of razor you use. You need to make sure you change your razor as frequently as possible (prevent bacterial infection) and also make sure the razor isn't too rough on your skin. Rashes could also be because your skin is dry (moisturise) or clogged follicles (use tea tree oil with your moisturiser).
  8. Your normal moisturiser should be fine.
  9. We don't actually reapply sunscreen, but we have sunscreen built into our foundation as well, so there is another layer of protection when we go out. Just make sure you carry a hat with you on extremely hot days, and wash your face and reapply sunscreen if you sweat during the day.
  10. I prefer the pump as tubs are tricky to use in that you could contaminate the whole tub by dipping your fingers in. Pump is more hygienic and you can add a few drops of oil to your lotion if you want extra moisture.

Generally blessed to have good skin, until I started breaking out like mad a few months back on my forehead and upper lip area.

Upon the advice of a friend, I tried AHA/BHA to clear myself up from Paula's Choice and Drunken Elephant's Babyfacial but it seemed to make everything much worse.

I finally went to HeyDay and my facialist berated me for following the advice that wasn't right for my skin type. Her theory was that my pores were getting clogged and irritated from being extremely dehydrated (NYC winters) and suggested that I use a gentler cleanser, an exfoliant, and an intense healing balm.

My skin is SO much better now with the extra moisture so my regimen is as follows:

Grown Alchemist Gel Cleanser - Half pump to remove make-up, half pump to cleanse. Day and nighttime.

[Naturopathica Healing Balm] (https://www.amazon.com/Naturopathica-Gotu-Kola-Healing-Balm/dp/B01H60XAH6) Mix with HA and/or MH Vitamin C serum to make it less thick. Use higher concentration at night for healing and less in day because it can be a bit shiny.

[Cosmedica Hyaluronic Acid] (https://www.amazon.com/Hyaluronic-Pure-Highest-Anti-Aging-Non-greasy-Paraben-free-Best/dp/B0090UJFYI/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1522688559&sr=1-4&keywords=hyaluronic+acid) Honestly, just the Amazon default HA and suits my purposes to mix with the Naturopathica Healing Balm.

[Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum] (https://www.amazon.com/Mad-Hippie-Vitamin-Hyaluronic-Ferulic/dp/B00DKF7XPW/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1522688609&sr=1-1&keywords=mad+hippie+vitamin+c+serum) Mix with Naturopathica Healing Balm. I bought this on a whim and my skin got worse when I ran out so I re-introduced this back into my regimen as an HA alternative.

[Grown Alchemist Exfoliant] (https://www.amazon.com/Grown-Alchemist-Polishing-Facial-Exfoliant/dp/B00G3J8J96/ref=sr_ph_1_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1522688670&sr=sr-1&keywords=grown+alchemist+exfoliant) Use 2-3x a week to gently exfoliate at nighttime after cleansing.

[Mad Hippie Sunscreen] (https://www.amazon.com/Mad-Hippie-Products-Facial-Broad-Spectrum/dp/B018E92YAC/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1522688706&sr=1-1&keywords=mad+hippie+sunscreen) Terrible at using this daily, but that is the goal!

lol I wish girls would look at me bro. It doesn't have to be a bad thing, and in your case, it certainly is not a bad thing.

I know you're probably worried that they're looking at you because there's something wrong with your face, but there's nothing wrong with your face. They may be interested.

I think the hair is fine. Although a lot of people are saying either to cut it short or grow it out long so idk; take the advice of the one with the most upvotes for the hair styling.

Perhaps clear up the skin though. Witch hazel for cleaning and 10% benzoyl peroxide for treating. Scrubs work well for me, so you may want to try those, too.

Certainly not ugly, and I think you have a chance with a girl. Just be sure to have an appropriate amount of confidence.

Ok, so I’ve been keeping it simple and using a brush like this to exfoliate my KP areas (back of my arms). https://www.ulta.com/facial-cleansing-brush?productId=xlsImpprod16601265

I use it with a facial exfoliant with salicylic acid. Stuff you can buy at Target, nothing super fancy and expensive. Neutrogena Acne Proofing Daily Facial Scrub with Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment, Exfoliating and Cleansing Face Wash, Oil-Free, 4.2 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075X1WJKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_57QUCbAK6DS4A

Just make sure it has the exfoliating beads in it.

Then I shave my arms. Sometimes I shave before I exfoliate, sometimes after. Sometimes I don’t. I know some ppl might be against shaving but I feel like it’s helped ME. I don’t know if ppl are against it though, I haven’t looked into it. I bought Ocean Mist exfoliant from Lush and use that afterwards with my brush and sometimes shave again.
https://uk.lush.com/products/cleansers/ocean-salt-self-preserving

If I remember to buy it, I use a lotion that won’t clog my pores. Coconut oil clogs my pores, a lot of things do. The only products I’ve found that are light for my skin that won’t clog are from Lush.
I can’t remember if I used Karma Kreme but I vaguely remember the name. It was either this one or Dream Cream. Dream Cream had good reviews for eczema help.
Karma Kreme - https://uk.lush.com/products/karma/karma-kream
Dream Cream - https://uk.lush.com/products/dream-cream

If you’re from the US, just choose the Non-UK choice. It’s super frustrating, I get it. I’ve been to dermatologists, etc. My friend who had a skin-business in CA told me about the brush and salicylic acid exfoliator and I’ve seen big improvements, just do the salycylic daily. Don’t buy the Lush stuff if you don’t want to, was just giving options. That’s stuff I discovered on my own through my journey.

Hey I was just going to say...I, too, have very dry areas on my face, to the point my skin starts peeling. And I also have to be careful what kind of exfoliator I use bc they can be too harsh and make my skin break out. I found two scrubs on Amazon that have a smaller, finer “grain”...PLUS, they help even out your skin tone, brighten up your skin, and actually help keep it moisturized too. And they honestly aren’t expensive (especially since you’re not supposed to do it more than 3 times a week...max...so it can last a good long time).

I have used both and can attest to both being amazing. This brand also makes five other scrubs...the Himalayan Salt Scrub should NOT be used on your face but I do like it for small areas on my body (it can sting if you have any tiny cuts or sensitive areas tho). The other four from them (Spirulina, Brown Sugar, Charcoal, and Coffee), I have not tried.

Pomegranate Scrub

Coconut Scrub

If you ever decide to try any of these out, I hope they really help! I know how hard it is to get dry skin under control...

Edit: words bc it’s late lol

u/beancass · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

For anti-aging I just make sure to use a good hydrating moisturizer. I also use a hydrating eye cream (non-retinol based). I drink a lot of water and maintain a healthy diet. I don't eat meat or dairy. I'll sometimes eat seafood. Your skin is ultimately a reflection of what's going on inside. As long as you can maintain a healthy diet + maintain a simple routine (no harsh products), your skin will thank you~ Use only one product of each step everyday. Don't alternate. And very important: If you're going to use new products, switch them out one by one. My skin freaked when I used new products all at once x.x

u/thisusernameisonfire · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Hmmm I’ve never thought about it for someone without hair but I’m sure it could work the same! Many hair care companies make scalp scrubs that help remove build up and I’ve also heard of people DIYing them using sugar and oil/ similar mixtures. I don’t know about the effectiveness of that because I haven’t done it. Since you are bald you could potentially use other ways of physically exfoliating to help, as well, which may be more cost effective....but again I haven’t done any research on that area in particular so I don’t have recommendations! Here is an example of a cheap scalp scrub on Amazon. Hope this helps!

u/thesilverankh · 1 pointr/malegrooming

Exfoliating is basically a way of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. This is done by using a product that is abrasive, that will scrub the skin. This can done by either using a cream or gel product, or by using a sponge or pad. Using a sponge or pad is too harsh for your facial skin so never do that!

You need to look for a cream or gel product that has tiny particles in it that make the cream/gel feel gritty but not too gritty. Some products, like St Ives, use larger, non-dissolving particles which can actual rip and damage your skin. You obviously don’t want to do that so use a product with tiny particles that doesn’t feel too harsh. If you’re look at products at a store, rub a small about of the product between your index finger and thumb to feel the texture. The product should feel gritty but not lumpy. A product I found on Amazon called Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub might do the trick. I haven’t used it myself but looks ok.

Rub a small amount (size of a quarter) all over your face and neck using small circular motions. Avoid your eyes. Be gentle...don’t try to erase the skin off your face! Just a little pressure to rub the product into your skin. Use the product for about 30 second to a minute then rinse your face with lukewarm water. Best place to exfoliate is in the shower.

You should immediately follow any exfoliating with a moisturiser.

If you do that 2-3 times a week, and cleanse your skin on the other days, you should notice an improvement in your skin texture and brightness in 2-3 weeks.

An excellent skincare routine will involve cleansing in the morning and exfoliating at night before bed, moisturising after both. If that’s too much for you, at the very least do your skincare routine every morning (cleanse every morning, exfoliate 2-3x a week and moisturise).

Here and here. I like MF more, but, well, the price.

So I'm 20 year old male. My skin is dull and dry. Oiling on the t zone area. And have rather large pores on upper cheeks. My skin tone is pretty uneven and I have some dark circles under my eyes as well as little bumps on the tip of my nose. And I have scars on forehead from pimples. Also have spider veins on the side of my nostrils.

Morning Moisturiser: [Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014EQQ1WQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A12TNZS1WSD4HJ&psc=1)

Morning and Night Face Wash: [Blueberry Cranberry Anti Oxidant Face Exfoliating Scrub] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Facial-Scrub-Blueberry-Cranberry-Exfoliating/dp/B013Q4QPVE/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1500296571&sr=8-3&keywords=vitamin+c+face+scrub)

The Morning and Night Face Wash is an exfoliate. how often should I use that? Should I use that once per week and find something else to wash my face with in the morning?

What's a good night time moisturiser?

If anyone has any other products, please recommend.

Hey, I am looking to start a skin care regime but i have little to no knowledge on pretty much everything. so i have a lot of questions, i apologize if this isnt the right place but hopefully im not breaking any rules. as some background I am a 23 year old guy, tend to have pretty oily skin, and i have some issues with acne and back acne. I was hoping for some feedback about what i plan on starting.

first off I am thinking of using a combination of these things:
facial cleanser and body cleanser while showering,

than i would also suppliment with:

a facial cleanser, exfoliator, and moisturizer at night.
I got most of these items from beginner guide on this sub, but what i was wondering is if any of these products are redundant or unneeded if my goal is for a simple and relatively cheap routine? Additionally i was wondering if anyone could roughly predict how long these volumes would last?
Any help would be really appreciated!! Thank you!!

I am currently using 10% almond acid form Pharmaceris (https://www.amazon.co.uk/PHARMACERIS-SEBO-MANDELIC-PEELING-CREAM/dp/B00X3QPCYC).
I have also bought Avene TriAcneal Expert( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00UW6D8YC/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1511810972&sr=8-1&keywords=avene+triacneal&dpPl=1&dpID=21jRa4N0B-L&ref=plSrch) which have retinaldehyde.

Can I use it simultaneously? I read some article on Paula's choice website (http://www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/myths/five-retinol-myths-busted.html) that says that it is possible, but they write about retinol and not retinaldehyde.

Hey fellas,
I am a 21M with oily skin with a couple of skin problems (mainly due to stupid shit I did in the teen and of course genetics). My current routine is below -

This doesn't exactly answer your question about makeup, but I recently got a sample of this and after three or so uses, it softened a lot of my really deep acne scars (which I've been trying to do for years now with no success).

u/XtraUgly · 1 pointr/amiugly

You look great. But get a piece of paper, man. A well stocked house is important (don't play on bluetooth speakers lmao, mildly nsfw).

Here's my advice:

Get a haircut that makes more sense for your head shape. You have a slightly big forehead. Not an enormous forehead, though! It's about normal sized, only slightly larger than average. But the hair style is really emphasizing that otherwise minor fact.

As for acne, here's the process I use and it pretty much got rid of all of my acne. I used to have acne exactly like you.

  1. In the shower, use these three products: product 1, product 2, product 3. They need to be rinsed off, so it's easiest to do in the shower.
  2. After your shower, apply a 10% benzoyl peroxide acne treatment, in a pea-sized amount. Get the good stuff-- it is very different from the cheap stuff. Trust me, i've tried both. And if you use a pea-sized amount once or twice daily, it'll last a few months. Don't rinse this stuff off. If you get skin irritation, keep doing it for a few days. If it doesn't go away, stop use.
  3. Throughout the day, keep your skin clean! This is super important. Use witch hazel for this. It's cheap and it'll make your skin feel amazing.

I'm sure some of these steps aren't nessecary, but this was the routine that I developed. Since it works crazy good, it's a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of thing. If you don't want to invest in ALL of the aforementioned products, then you could probably get away with just 10% benzoyl peroxide scrub + 10% benzoyl peroxide treatment + witch hazel.

Anyways, you're like a 5.5 / 10 right now. 5 is average. So that puts you slightly above average. Deal with acne and get a better hair style and you're easily a 6.5 / 10, which means attractive.
