Maybe mason bees? They don't sting. And you can have like 5-10, instead of 50k honey bees.
Don't feed bees sugar, it actually isn't good for their gut, and the beekeeper will have sugar water for a honey harvest.

This is an amazing resource on constructing vivariums, they are a little more intricate, and require lighting, but many of the foundation techniques should be applied to terrarium building.

I find the same various plants, in the indoor garden section of different department stores, and garden centers, for around 2-5 dollars per plant.

This Amazon listing! I wanted mixed colors just for the fun of it. They germinated really quickly. Just make sure you keep the soil surface moist, otherwise they don't come up and/or the seedlings crisp up and die.

Since it's considered to be a weed in the US, I think you'll have problems finding it for sale from traditional seed sites. That said, both Amazon and AliExpress purport to have pennywort seeds of some description. Both places have around a 50/50 chance of you getting the claimed seed vs. a seed from an unrelated plant. (Both places allow sellers to peddle rainbow rose seeds that don't exist.)
Some people have said that they received seeds for something common, instead of the rarer seeds that they actually ordered. Also, germination rates may be low even if you get the correct thing. Because of this, I'd probably go with AliExpress because it's the cheaper gamble. Unless, of course, someone else can find a more legit site that sells pennywort.

My thinking didn't run to a perennial but the annual Nigella damascena - which has the common name "Love In A Mist".
It comes in many shades and colours allowing many futures to be remembered in the mists of loss and grief.
I'd build a robot. I'm not sure if I'd want a waiter bot or more of a kill bot. But I know winning the lottery would be the first steps towards world domination. The internet has really polarized me toward thinking everyone would be better under my love, kill-bot powered, iron fist.
I took up kitchen plant keeping as a hobby, this is a nice little one to add
