I just bought a Were-Armadillo miniature. I didn't have any intention of including it in any games until I saw one for sale. I immediately purchased it as any sane man would.
I bought it at my local gamestore but here is the exact same one on Amazon
EDIT: Surprisingly hard to find on Reapers own site, but here it is
here you go
https://www.amazon.com/Round-TUIT-Tokens-Multi-Pack-Encouragement/dp/B00J8KVHLY
I bought this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0742F13GD/ref=pe_3187911_189395841_TE_dp_1
Not a plug. I'm unaffiliated with the maker.
But it lets you put maps and charts and handy notes on both sides of the screen.
This is the outside of the screen right now. Sets the tone by showing how I imagine the mountain kingdom the adventure takes place in.
Here's a possible plan to do your birthday idea:
Run him through the classic adventure "Against the Giants" , which was written by Gary Gygax himself, the creator of D&D. One of the most famous adventures in all of D&D history. You can shorten it to just use a frost giant part if you like.
There is a conversion to 5th edition available, so no problem using it.
And every DM should have the chance to experience as a player one of the classic adventures by the creator of D&D. ;)
Inside the adventure, place a female giant, representing yourself, from whom he can get the artifact you have made, or whom he can rescue with it, whatever you have planned. A miniature recommendation for the female giant below if you want to add an extra present (it is a great miniature, my wife loves it).
What you need to buy:
Against the giants 3 adventure pack, $5

Against the giants conversion to 5e, $1

Optional extra:
Yephima, cloud giant statue miniature, $10

here you go!
Yes! They're available later this year in sets. I was just looking them up.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SSHRC8P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_QPsjDbD00JXWD
If you go to the Steamforged Amazon page you can see the Vox Machina ones as well.
I'm not sure how Cadeuces will be added or if he will, but I know you can pre-order him and Avantika on Steamforged right now.
Fire giant jailer
Reaper Miniatures Bluferg, Fire Giant Jailor #77593 Bones RPG D&D Mini Figure https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07956WW8N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xHAZDbYZR6N2G
Probably shoulda specified lol.
Idunno about bones but it's plastic, feels like a grade or 2 cheaper than the GW minis, no assembly either.
Reaper Yephima Female Cloud Giant (1) Miniature by Reaper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EZY04HQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_flz9AbXE7SM6F
https://www.amazon.com/Mancala-Stones-Made-in-USA/dp/B000JWPNPQ
These are what I used before I started getting minis.
i think you are looking for this:
http://www.amazon.com/Agricola-Vegeemeeples--194-piece-Token/dp/B001V6V312/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409603280&sr=8-1&keywords=vegimeeples
for some reason, there's gold included in the set, but everything else included is for Agricola
Combine with blank cards, your own blank folding game board, some neutral pawns, and/or a set with pawns, tokens, timers, and more, and you're set!
Need inspiration? Do a Little. Reading.
Yup. [I think these are the ones](
http://www.amazon.com/Agricola-Meeples-Deluxe-Wooden-Farmer/dp/B001V6OXIC) - they fit the general theme of the game so well that I didn't know they were aftermarket until I saw my roommate's copy of the game that didn't have them.
Do you want the people meeples as well?
These seem to be the recommended options:
People meeples: http://www.amazon.com/Mayday-Games-Agricola-Meeples-Deluxe/dp/B001V6OXIC
Veggiemeeples: http://www.amazon.com/Agricola-Veggiemeeples-Grain-Carrot-Tokens/dp/B00339P4KG
Agricola and Arkham Horror are my two most customized games. I used Plano/Jewelry storage boxes in both to help organize everything. I also replaced all of the Agricola wooden pieces with the Mayday Games Vegeemeeples and replaced the standard dice in Arkham Horror with these themed dice.
BoardGameGeek has some great file resources for making tuckboxes. For any card-based game, they make a huge difference in reducing clutter. You just need some card-stock (I used 110lb), double-sided tape, an Xacto-like knife and a USB drive to take the .PDF files to a print shop.
Its on amazon usa for 10 dollars https://www.amazon.com/Reaper-Miniatures-Golem-77514-Unpainted-Figure/dp/B079Q4D936
You might consider buying non-representational minis. That is, buying something like mancala stones (https://www.amazon.com/Mancala-Stones-Made-in-USA/dp/B000JWPNPQ) that doesn't look like anything in particular. This, I find, helps me and my players use their imagination to visualize things. My experience with more representational minis is that it's hard for me to separate my mental image of the character from the way the mini looks...this might train your players in those visualization skills.
If that doesn't strike your fancy I would advise you to look for toys instead of minis. Here you can get 60 knights for 12 bucks. Sounds like you might be in the UK but I'm sure you can find an equivalent. https://www.amazon.com/Warriors-Medieval-Soldiers-Military-Figures/dp/B076M6HTLG/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1550176019&sr=1-1-fkmr1&keywords=toy+knights+100pc
It's the Reaper Bones Black Rock Troll! https://www.amazon.com/Reaper-Miniatures-Plastic-Unpainted-Figure/dp/B07NBVH7LV
That is neat. I've started using these a monster numbers and they just follow the monster across the board:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HY6TRQQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Looks like they may be the white figures in the original arena game. Could someone that has the game verify this?
Edit: the Ravnica Companion Set 1 has a loxodon in it, $25 though...
I use these: Board Game Pieces- 50 Pack- Blank 1 x 2 inches Rectangular Tombstone Diecut Token Cards with the Paizo Pawn bases. Just print the miniature on mailing labels and stick to the cardboard.
You could also use something like this: Game Board Markers - 12 Stands Plus 24 White Die Cut Cards if you don't have Paizo Pawns.
Thanks! I found it at a local hobby shop here in Atlanta but I just found one on amazon after a quick search... https://www.amazon.com/WizKids-Nolzurs-Marvelous-Miniatures-Nameless/dp/B07D5MDG8N
Really? Nice! It’s a little easier to see the cuts from the back
I found the og model for comparison
https://www.amazon.com/Reaper-Miniatures-Eilluvasheth-Succubus-Queen/dp/B0794CRW4N
Awesome that will go perfectly with the DM screen I just purchased. If anybody is interested this one has dry erase pockets.
