EDIT: Actually dmoore0988 has gotchu. Updated my link.

Well, there’s this other one

u/Nateorade · 7 pointsr/golf

It's actually a net from PowerNet. Got both off of Amazon - here are the links below. Not too bad of a cost to get a couple high-quality items that I'll use quite a bit:

Golf Net

Golf Mat

Breaking 80 is still on Amazon. I like mine, though it was cheaper when I bought it.

u/ashdrewness · 5 pointsr/golf

Buy a monitor of some kind so you actually know what your current speed is, and also what your adjustments/improvements look like. Below is the one I use. Helped me go from ~108 to ~113 for my normal driver swing. However, that was more due to swing changes instead of exercise.

I don’t think anyone would be upset getting a sleeve of titleist prov1 or prov1x. A sleeve is usually 13-16$ so that fits your range pretty well. Otherwise something I just bought myself is a Golf Ball Stencil... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072JJRQV6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and then a pack of colored Milwaukee tool Inzall markers. Get them at Home Depot though, waaay cheaper than amazon.

Soft case with a stiff arm works well... http://amzn.com/B0015RZCZK

u/nonothing · 3 pointsr/golf

That sure would look nice. My wife bought me the bag, I came from an Ogio that was all black. Really brings everything together, except my swing path.

I use this CaddyTek in orange with a custom 3D printed top section that holds my phone, range finder, a few balls and tees and has a battery for charging my phone while I play.

I buyed 42mm red ball.(38mm ball might able to not use).

u/rgolfacct · 3 pointsr/golf

I bought this one a few months ago based on the reviews and price. It does everything I need it to do, can't even think of any reason I'd buy a more expensive one.

Green one is $65.

You can do something similar with one like this. There is the line in the middle and the 2 outside ones.

Hard cases are ideal. If you've got a soft case, I'd highly recommend a pole similar to the one attached. Saves the woods. http://www.amazon.com/Club-Glove-Stiff-Arm-Protector/dp/B0015RZCZK

Or for $3.50 each, you and your friend can make straight lines in the middle of the ball

EDIT: if you need something to do with your PVC pipe piece, use it for putting drills. If you are striking with the toe or heel first, the pipe will spin on the carpet. If you're impacting square - the pipe will roll away from you.

It allows you to set your own tee height.

like this

Most ranges I go to have rubber tees that are too short or too tall. This allows me to set it to the height I want. Just don’t forget it at the range like I did once.

u/PhaliasMaximus · 3 pointsr/golf

I just carry this in my golf bag. I've been using it most saturdays for almost two years, still going strong: https://www.amazon.com/Quality-Rubber-Golf-Holder-Driving/dp/B008I5TG3G/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1524409959&sr=8-5&keywords=rubber+tee+holder

Is this the one you are referring to? I'll probably go cheap because flying for golf will likely be a 1 or 2 times a year thing for now.

u/Username_Used · 2 pointsr/golf

Uniform, level surface with guaranteed consistency. I use the mats for working on my driver/woods and bring one of these with me so that I can use real tees.

I also like the mats when working on shorter chips and wanting to just dial in a groove and work on the consistency of my short chip/punch stroke. I like the grass when working on longer pitches and irons up to full iron shots.

My local grass area isn't particularly flat so it doesn't really emulate being on a tee box very well. They also don't keep the grass short enough to emulate the fairway. It's more of a "first cut" grass length.

u/HardDriveGuy · 2 pointsr/golf

Inconsistent can mean long, short, right, left or not have the ability to hit the center of the face, and even with this information, it would be tough to say what you would need. It would also be nice to know if you are struggling on the practice range and/or on the course when you are with your buddies

With that being said, I might suggest getting Tom Wishon's "Search For A Perfect Driver" and perhaps a Swing Radar and impact labels to find out your real speed and impact on club face when you are not in front of other people. Tom is the industry's myth buster, and he points out that "stiff" shaft is often wildly different from company to company. He points out that most people are hitting clubs longer than the pro's use, with swing speeds much, much slower. Generally, he suggests short drivers, higher lofts (11-13 for most men), and true bend analysis of shaft (which only a handful of people do).

Once you have this gear, you can do some nice analysis outside of a golf shop, which is very artificial. Real world data should be more helpful. Let me explain how I use this data.

I often pack my Swing Radar down to the range, and I have impact labels for myself and my son (although my son is consuming most of the labels). As much as it bugs me, I normally swing 85 on the range when I'm working through a bunch of balls, and I'm guessing around 90 on the course (because of the distance). If I really crank the juice, I get into the high 90s or low 100s.

My problem is that I'm very accurate with my 80MPH swing, but I can't help but want to show off on the course with my 100MPH swing. The problem is that the 100MPH swing is wildly inconsistent. My sons inconsistency is based around the fact that he tends to miss the center of the driver. Thus he is using impact mark labels to fix this fault.

After reading Tom's book, I am convinced that I should be playing with a driver no longer than 44 inches (I'm around 6' 2"), and he points out that Tiger was using a 44.5 inch driver. When he tests people, almost all of them hit longer with a shorter driver. However, I notice that I tend to hook when I choke up, and I'm trying to work on my 3 iron right now, so length will need to wait.

Finally, I have spent a ton of time hitting with a Whippy Driver. This is driver with a shaft that like a wet noodle and almost hits you when you are at the top. I used to play rounds with the driver, but my friends complained that it was simply freaking them out that any driver would bend so much. (And eventually the shaft broke from number of impacts.) However, this driver forces a very smooth style. If you are really committed to fixing stuff, try hitting this exclusively for a few months.

I mean, part of that is also probably advertising and brand name. I haven't heard anythinga bout the breaking 80 range finders, but I have heard that Nikon makes a good one. The Coolshot 40 is a higher end model, but still less expensive then the bushnell.

Flown with my 716 Mb's, scotty cameron, and 915 driver 3 times the last two years with one of these. No problems. If you're really worried, disassemble your driver head with a torque wrench and leave the shaft in the bag.

u/thedisapprovingbear · 2 pointsr/Nerf

It's a bit late at the moment, but I heard the call for balls. Ballistic balls are asked about occasionally here, and I don't have much to share, but I'll share what little I know.

Ballistic balls changed size sometime around 2000 or 2003 - becoming slightly larger. This is probably why there's conflicting information on the actual size of them. According to these measurements, you want something around 1.75 inches or 44mm in diameter. The nerf wikia (which I'll preface with a malware ad warning, since I got a browser redirect to a questionable site a few moments ago) lists the size of ballistic balls to be 1.5 inches or 38 mm in diameter

Koosh balls have been recommended elsewhere, but the nerf wikia says that they aren't the same size as classic ballistic balls.

The recommendation I'm familiar with is to go with practice golf balls. These one's here are just a little under 43 mm. I've also heard suggestions of using foam stress balls, but you have to be careful about the size of them.

Shoutout to u/ParabolicToys - he seems to be knowledgeable on this subject. Here's a post he did on ballistic balls the last time I summoned him.

A lot of people doubt whether it works real well, but when I looked at it I thought it would work. Some guy on youtube used one to get his swing speed up to 131 this summer - you may want to look for that thread - he has like 15 videos up of him doing it. Good luck.

You could probably get a well-used set at a thrift shop or eBay for <$100. But you'll probably be piecing together various clubs.

You can get this very adequate complete, new set on Amazon for $220 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2HQJR5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got this one for $70 and love it. I would suggest picking up the Stiff Arm as well.

I love the piece of mind that the Stiff Arm gives you since it feel pretty sturdy and ensures that it takes any pressure put on the top of the bag.

Yeah, it is. My fiance caught me looking at headcovers last week and pointed it out to me. I was skeptical at first based on the picture on amazon, but I think it looks great.

I think people are just stealing them. I ended up buying a rubber tee thing that lets you put a real tee in it. It's really nice to have. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07414K214/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fMC3CbS98YPXW

I used these earlier in the year when I was losing a lot. Work out to be about 50 cents a ball. The first time I ordered, they were almost all Mojos, but the last time, they were all RZN.

Swing Speed Radar

I recently bought this and it's very accurate. If you do decide to get it, just put it at a 45 degree in front of you 6-10 inches away from the club. If you swing without a wiffle ball or an actual ball the speed will come up 5-10% slower than actual.

u/aesopvu · 1 pointr/golf

I travel with my clubs 2-3x a year and I use a soft bag because it's easier to transport. I don't know if you've noticed this but the hard case is cumbersome and difficult to fit into some cars because of its size. If my soft bag doesn't fit once I get to my destination I can always take my clubs out and fold up my soft bag.
To protect my clubs I wrap a towel around the heads and I use this: Club Glove Stiff Arm Travel Club Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0015RZCZK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-fsrxb1RJXTE9
On our last golf trip one of my buddies had a hard case and it wouldn't fit in the rental. He had to sit with it in the back seat with it sticking out the side of the window. Of course the hard case protects it in case of rough handlers or drops but I haven't had any bad experiences yet. Hope this helps

u/cwardlaw · 1 pointr/boostedboards

thanks! It's an older bag, couldnt tell you the model, but something like this would work which is 50 inches - http://www.amazon.com/Izzo-Golf-Padded-Travel-Cover/dp/B00CUEFDSS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1464635898&sr=8-4&keywords=travel+golf+bag

The key is packing your Boosted in the box it came in, then throw it in the golf bag. I just measured the boosted box and its 40 inches length, so go with 45inches + on the golf bag. I flew SouthWest, and it wasnt overweight nor oversized. I was able to fit a few pairs of shoes, my helmet, gopro hardcase full of accessories, so there was plenty of room for extra gear. Hope this helps

u/ninjamic · 1 pointr/golf

I switched mats last year. Picked up the VariSpeed Putting Mat .

It has helped me with the speed of my putts. That or perhaps I practiced my putting a lot more ever since I got it. Either way, I’m happy with it.

Edit: a word

u/canyoujustoncebecool · 1 pointr/golf

I typically buy used AAA balls like callaway or nike which are like $20 for 50 balls and in my experience they have been good enough quality for me. I've been golfing infrequently for several years (I suck) but even though they're used they've been good enough for me

u/Rob_035 · 0 pointsr/golf

I’d recommend the Callaway strata set off amazon over this’ll at set you linked. You’ll get more clubs for almost $200 less, I’d take that money and dump it into lessons

Strata 2019 Strata 12-Piece Complete Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2HQJR5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FhJiDb3AZGTKE

The only training equipment I’d recommend is a puttout and a mat for practice at home. Nothing beats hitting actual golf balls
