If you're wedded to Mainstage, then your best bet would be standard audio interface to bring your Mic and Guitar inputs in, then a midi footboard (ie. Line 6 FBV Shortboard ) to control Loopback instances.

There are various VST/AU loopers available that you could use instead of Loopback, with varying levels of complexity, Mobius, GLoop for example.

Headphones: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRV6-Studio-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00001WRSJ These headphones ROCK! I use them with recording, mixing, performance.

Now the amp part is where it gets tricky. I would recommend getting him a Marshall MG15CFX (I had an older version of that, it's what I learned on.) With headphones they sound pretty good! It also has an aux input for mp3/cd players, as well as a foot controller you can buy so he can turn on the distortion/fx without pressing the buttons on the amp.

Here's the optional footswitch:

You need a stomp switch, any other switch won't last, check Amazon, Ebay and the wiring.

EDIT: using a stereo jack for the input would be a good idea so you can wire it to shut off when unplugged.

First off...That's not a schematic. It's a layout. It's like the difference between musical notation and and tablature. It'll tell you basically the same thing but each one has its strengths and weaknesses.

Secondly...if you're talking about the teal rectangle that is a graphic depicting the foot switch. That is a double pole double throw switch.

Good for true bypass but you won't get an LED indicator.

Each white square is depicting a solder lug on the switch.

Looking online, it seems to be a simple two button foot switch with a stereo lead. You should be able to find a substitute like this

Yes I see your point, I've been adjusting on all sorts of pedals with the tone room software connected to the amp. I think I'm just going to get the pedal that came with it instead.

I'm planning on getting another guitar for drop c tuning anyway so I'll get my cake.

Pick up one of these, that's the switch that comes with the amp.

I use this and don't get any background noise.

I use this one with mine, which is not the Fender switch, but it works great. Im pretty sure you're limited to flipping between 2 presets, hence the one button on this switch

Well hey, five bucks cheaper at Amazon.

OP: Welcome to the Classic 50 club, hope it treats you good! (Also, I'd recommend buying a small hand truck to move this heavy mofo around!)

> Orange TH30

Orange FS-1.

The only thing you can do with the TH30 is switch between channels.

I don't think so. I haven't tried the B+ but I understand its binary compatable.

Re the bypass, you'll need a splitter (Y cable), and then a mixer of some sort where the original signal and the effects signal can be mixed together. This gadget seems to be one that can do the job.

However, before shelling out 80 bucks for a mixer, I'd get your looper working just so you know its going to work ok for you.

I don't think it was made specifically for it, but I found a Behringer AB100 that has indpendent volume controls for both channels. But any with passive volume controls would work?

The US$20 Hosa FSC 385 + US$10 Hosa CSS115 TRS cable will work fine, but you give up the LED of the H&K switch. If you want the LED's, buy the H&K for US$50.

The key is that the footswitch use latching switches and have a 1/4" TRS stereo connector for the amp. You have to buy the cable separate for the Hosa; IIRC, the H&K has a 15' cable permanently attached.
