Oh, my Happy Bunny friend. It's ok that we have some difference.

Truth be told, there is one Christmas CD that I do actually love because it reminds me of childhood. It's this one. I will listen to it during the holidays, even though we never put a tree up or anything. Usually while drinking home made (brandy) egg (brandy) nog. It has some brandy in it.

John Denver and the Muppets, you're welcome.

While at home I listen to classical music, either on the radio or on youtube. I have three classical music relaxation CDs (this, this, and this), sometimes I listen to those.

When I am stressed, I listen to one of the long (1+ hours) zen relaxation videos on youtube.

When I am having difficulty falling sleep, I listen to sleep music.

HANSON! Don't care, I loved them when they came out and I still love them! Their old stuff and new stuff is fun and definitely kid friendly.

Plus you can start her out with their Christmas album!

I shuffle from these collections:

The Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World...Ever!

The Most Relaxing Classical Album In the World Ever, Volume II

The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe

But usually I just tune in to WILL-FM, it saves me the effort of shuffling, choosing, selecting ... which in itself can be distracting when trying to work or study.

Merry Axemas Vol. 1 as well as Vol. 2 always get broken out during Christmas. But I agree, there is no substitute for Vince Guaraldi. Absolute classic.

Or do a search for them on the iTunes store. They should be on there. Only Poke album we released that will probably be hard to find is the Pokemon Live album.

Snuka hit the nail on the head :) 60s-style lounge/cocktail party was where I was going. My husband threw me a birthday party like that. It was FANTASTIC. Everyone came dressed up, too. It was like Mad Men in real life. He had a playlist of all ultra-lounge music, and I know he has this album which is awesome.

Hipster's holiday. Has my two favorite Christmas songs ever, Blue Xmas by Miles Davis and a lounge version of Silent Night by the Tim Fuller Experience.

If they love classical music, Handel's Messiah and Bach's Christmas Oratorio are great. The Messiah is a LOT more famous and easily recognizable, so if they don't know too much about classical music it might be a safer bet than the Bach.

A strange and little known personal favorite of mine is Sneak's Noyse: Christmas Now Is Drawing Near. It is a collection of OLD (medieval and renaissance) English folk carols done with period instruments and singing style.

If they like jazz, and if you can find it, they might like one of the Swingle Singers holiday albums. I grew up with these, they are great fun to listen to. Also, no holiday is complete without Vince Guaruldi Trio: Charlie Brown Christmas. So, so good!

Another strange and wonderful album I grew up with is Pete Seeger's Christmas album. You have to love the banjo for this one, though!

Hopefully some of these will make your parents happy :-) Good luck, and I bet I can come up with more if you like!

EDIT: we also have some great scattered tracks of various big band artists doing Christmas stuff, but it looks like most of it is out of print. If your folks like big band jazz, you might try looking for tracks from this album, or just hunt around for tracks by Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, etc.

(BTW -- Sorry about the Amazon links! Not sure where you get your music, they're just so you can see the album covers.)

there are some on Amazon if you really want but pricey.

I just ordered the plain black.

I'll never order anything from rough trade again.

There's a series of albums called 'Maybe This Christmas' from the mid 2000s with some more contemporary sounding stuff from various artists like Ben Folds, Rilo Kiley, Damien Rice, The Flaming Lips, etc.

Maybe This Christmas

Maybe This Christmas Too

Maybe This Christmas Tree

Not quite what you're looking for, I think. But Nat King Cole's album "The Christmas Song" is traditional Christmas music without singing kids or bad pop stars elaborating way too much on simple tunes. (I'm looking at you, Whitney Houston)

On Amazon here.

u/bigfunky · 1 pointr/Jazz

The absolute best Christmas album (jazz or otherwise) IMHO is Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song

u/Ellimis · 1 pointr/Music

That's not quite true, I know my mom's old '97 chevy malibu had a standard tape player that could skip tracks. I'm not sure if it listened for silence in the stream or if there were markers on the tape, but it would skip tracks on my Mannheim Steamroller Meets the Mouse tape just fine.

u/efreak2004 · 1 pointr/RandomActsOfGaming

This is my Steam profile, and my favorite album is Mannheim Steamroller Meets the Mouse.

u/_neon_reflected · 1 pointr/Jazz

Jazz to the World http://www.amazon.com/Jazz-World-Various-Artists/dp/B000005GZQ is a cool compilation album. Also, check out: http://www.covermesongs.com for various Christmas stuff, but many different styles, you'll have to search for the jazz.

If your'e feeling jazzy, B3 organ master Jimmy Smith's Christmas Cookin', from 1964, has been a favorite of mine for many years. It absolutely smokes.

In that same vein, An Oscar Peterson Christmas is pretty damn fine, too.

u/loveeemb · 1 pointr/Music

The Carpenter's Christmas Portrait is my favoritefavorite album. We had it on vinyl for years.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/AskReddit

It's Christmas Time - Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Bing Crosby

My favorite Christmas album...it's just full of warm fuzzies, you know?

Another favorite that I grew up with The Carpenters -Christmas Portrait

u/chardymcdaniel · 1 pointr/Music

The first "A Very Special Christmas" album.

Not sure about your taste and what might count as lame, but I like Merry Axemas - A Guitar Christmas. Also Volume 2.

James Brown's Funky Christmas, on the very day he died. It made me sad :(
