This is what I do.

First get a travel bag if you will be doing this often.

Pack your suit but don't close the bag until you are leaving your home. The time you have with the clothes wrinkling will be less this way.

Travel and once you get to the hotel, that's the first thing that comes out, not going to the bar for a drink but getting those puppies out!

Put them by the shower so the stem can help with the wrinkles.

Press if necessary!

Edit: right link this time(hopefully) and the apologies since I'm on mobile

You'll probably need a boxy suitcase, judging by the size of the base... something like This or This. Now unless you find something big enough I'd suggest disassembling the Hookah first. You'll get a more compressed fit into the aforementioned suitcase. Now fill the gaps with packing peanuts or newspaper, whatever you have readily available. Don't be afraid to really stuff it at this point. And Voila, you're ready to travel!

I found this to be really useful. You can hang your suits and pack everything else you might need and it's carry-on size.

Have had 2 and they're great -- very underrated.

I own an Everlane weekender, and I own this upright bag. In terms of appearance, the Everlane weekender is miles better. I think it actually looks 'cool' compared to the completely utilitarian upright bag. In terms of practicality and general use, it's the upright bag all the way.

I find the straps on the Everlane weekender to be a bit cumbersome (they keep sliding down). There's only one small pouch on the inside of the main compartment and one pocket on the outside, which is not nearly enough for the level of organization I desire. When totally full, it's just a little too long for the overhead compartment on the airplane too.

The upright bag is functional and durable, and it has lots of pockets, and it's expandable. I love it. If I'm just tossing a couple things in a bag, I'll use the Everlane weekender, but for any real trip, I use the upright bag. Plus, I decked mine out with these dinosaur luggage tags!

came here to suggest this. My dad always traveled with one (and we put my suits in there when traveling together). Totally worth the investment if you're doing a lot of traveling.

probably not what you're looking for but I just got this one and it is pretty legit

u/Billy_Brubaker · 2 pointsr/AskMen

They make suit bags similar to the one that came with the suit, but generally meant to last a little longer and a big wider so you can fit the shirt and tie in there too.

Cheap $10 version

Amazing $285 Filson version - Filson makes some amazing bags, this thing would last a lifetime and look good.

Or just wear it, those are your two best options. Don't carry it around without a cover since that's how you'll end up wrinkling it or staining it.

If you're looking for something to use to store it in your closet, these work pretty well from Amazon

This bag works quite well and sounds like what you're looking for. Can be folded to easily be carried or you can hang it upright as well.

I've used this over the last few years and have been very happy with it

check clearance sales wherever you can. Not just the big name hockey shops (total hockey, hockey monkey, etyc.) but general sports stores like dick's and sports authority too. Don't forget about Amazon either, especially Amazon warehouse. I got a great, basic CCM bag on there for $30.

u/TheBeneGesseritWitch · 1 pointr/navy

I bought a really nice bi-fold hard garment bag, like this one. The one I have had a hangar in it so that you could hang up the whole pack....The little zippers and pockets are perfect for storing dress shoes and ribbons/medals/belts/covers/neckerchief/neckertab/undershirts and dress socks.

Downside is it isn't a collapsible one so not ideal for shipboard/deployment use, but it's perfect for any flights that require me to bring my dress uniform(s). So far it's survived two PSCes, a trek to c-school, and two trips to weddings. It keeps all my uniforms stored neatly in my closet when not in use, too.

Don't ask r/buyitforlife unless you're prepared to be redirected to Tumi (which runs like, $700+ for a piece of luggage) or Saddleback, which is assuredly not for those of us with enlisted paychecks! (but I wish I had more disposable income because I want a lot of their products...).

A low-end alternative would be to buy one of the clear plastic over-the-door-shoe-holder and put your random uniform items in that. Of course, it's not really easily transportable, should you need to fly somewhere with your stuff when you PCS you'll probably have to ziplock everything before throwing it in your suitcase.

Can anyone recommend a good garment bag for carry on duty during air travel?

I've been looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/Henty-Wingman-Suit-Bag-Blue/dp/B00BQTKQHQ/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1

But I am looking for other options.

Any bag that can cut down on ironing/steaming is what I'm looking for.

I have been trying to find a good solution for packing my suit for work... but man... 200 bucks for a suit bag? From the reviews it seems great... until I saw this one:

>(2 Stars) I had several interviews recently and had to travel (Portland, Seattle, Raleigh, San Francisco). I packed my suit and 2 shirts inside the Henty Wingman, however, at each stop I had to completely re-iron my suit and shirt. And I'm not talking about just a couple wrinkles, I had to completely re-iron the shirt and steam my suit.

I would try it for 100... but 200 is too steep for what is essentially a backpack. I could probably roll up a suit bag in a Jan Sport for a forth of the price.

A few people I know that are involved with local gaming meetups use hockey bags like this one. It's probably a little much for most people, but one of my friends brings most of his collection with him for each meetup.

u/Zamiewithazee · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

It's over $15, but I certainly wouldn't mind a gift card :) LOOKATIT. IT'S A CHICKEN BAG.

pretty California & thank you for the contest! :D

u/HanaNotBanana · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I was going to say the suitcase, but I'm leaving on the 19th, and I don't think it would get here in time

u/Metabilities · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would do one of those semi rigid cloth covered suitcase sets... let's see if I can find one on Amazon. They have enough give to not be a pain and enough toughness to protect what's inside.

EDIT- something like this would be great because it's light but fits a lot of stuff, and also the color is cute and easy to spot.

u/RioTheDragonMan · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

After graduating from highschool a family friend bought me a suitcase (I believe it is an older version of this model).

I can't tell you how much mileage I've gotten out of the thing! (To and from school, and professional school, multiple vacations around the world, day and weekend trips). 21" is a great size as it works well as my second carry on item, and I can pack it full of cloths (I can fit roughly a weeks worth of cloths in that little bag). I've really abused it over the years and it is still in perfect condition. To this day, it one of my most useful presents I've ever gotten, and that was 8 years ago. Also, symbolically it was really the perfect gift upon leaving the "nest".

I am sure there are better models out today and recommend you ask the BIFL community (or search a previous posts on the subject) about which particular model you should get I would recommend a 21 inch Samsonite/American Tourister from my personal experience.

edit: If I were in the mood to buy a replacement this is probably what I would buy

(I say mood, because I am not sure if there will ever be a time I will need to replace the one I have considering how durable it has been)

Looking to buy a travel garment bag for my suit and maybe shoes for some interviews. Anyone have any experience with this bag or something similar to it they can recommend?

Can you bring a garment bag instead of a backpack? This one was great for my week long business trip.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AB286S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If not, I would steam them in the shower when I get there of see if you want to invest in a handheld steamer(or learn how to iron). You can youtube some folding techniques, but those shirts are gonna get messed up regardless.

Solution: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XDD9EG/ref=pe_309540_26725410_item

A garment bag and suitcase in one.

u/2per4life · 0 pointsr/churning

I bought two of these, one for my wife and one for me, for only $40 each a couple of years ago and they're still in great condition. We probably take around 15 trips a year, and always take these bags with us, so they've gotten plenty of use. We even managed three weeks in New Zealand with just these bags and backpacks for each of us.
