I always wear boots, because I walk the dog daily. However, I can recommend Altberg Tabbing Boots - it's a lightweight and breathable boot, that's sort of a cross between boots and running shoes.

I also have owned and worn extensively Peacekeeper P1 Aqua, and Sneekers - they're good, but heavier duty waterproof boots. Lovely if you're tramping around in very soggy conditions, but overkill for playing PoGo.

I would also recommend you consider Liner Socks - these are thin, go under your 'normal' socks, but will significantly improve your comfort in all weather - in the cold, your feet will be a bit warmer and dryer, because there's a bit more insulation, and 'damp' is carried away. In the warm, your feet will be cooler and dryer, because the moisture won't sit next to your skin.

To quote:

> “The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.

> Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.

> But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

> This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness.”

I just checked it and they are still cheaper on Amazon. Darn Tough Men's Wool Boot Cushion Sock (Style 1403) - 6 Pack Special Offer (Black, Large) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013XB52BO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.yiMBb6HE9TS7

Ok... I'm gonna try and look exclusively on amazon, because it seems pretty representative of prices elsewhere and it would take too long to look everywhere. I'll work in UK money, since that's where I live, and I'll convert it to USD at the end.

Si tienes tanto frio comprate unos calcetines termicos. Son ligeros pero sientes que tienes los pies pegados a la estufa 10/10

I've never tried these, but I am a big fan of Darn Tough socks. Expensive, but worth every penny.

I agree. Far superior to SW, too. These would be my recommendation.

Merino wool is the most amazing fabric you'll ever let touch your skin. It's not scratchy like normal wool, it regulates body temp, and doesn't smell. I've heard of people wearing merino wool socks traveling for over a week. Let them hang dry over night & wear them again the next day. No funky smell. I have merino wool jackets that are 6 months old & have been washed one time.

Of course, this comes at a price. Merino is not cheap. You can go with the standard darn tough or the super fancy.

Try Darn Tough. These things are indestructible.

If you want to give them a shot, people socks are a little thicker than the kirklands and might help fill the boot out a little boot.

I own both kinds of socks and the difference is definitely noticeable.

I hike in these, which work well enough and have a much more palatable price point.

Have you checked AirBnB yet? There's probably some apartments that you could rent that are close to hotels that are used as pick up points for excursions.
I used these guys when I was there in December 2015, https://www.re.is for couple of my tours.
I went on the following tours;

Warm Baths Cool Lights ( A geothermal pool, then northern lights )

Game of Thrones tour ( used greyline.is for this )

South Shore Adventures (Get to see the Skógafoss waterfall and the Black Sand beach, couple other stops as well )

Here's what I wore on most days.

Underwear ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00Z8HWXIM )

Thermal Pants/Long Sleeve (http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0064D1DNK, then the same kind of top)

3 in 1 Jacket ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00HQ33NTY )

Snow Pants ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00AHJM8CM ) I used a different set of snow pants, that I ordered through aliexpress, but had these along incase the ones I got from China didn't work out. They ended up being perfect, so I never even wore these.

Boots : Good set of Hiking boots, that were waterproof.

Wool Socks were a must as well ( http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00TOWNXO0 )

I also had two sets of gloves. Ones that were windproof but touchscreen capable so I could take pictures with my phone. Then another that were heavy duty/waterproof just in case. I mostly just wore my windproof ones, as they were slightly waterproof as well. Also a really good beanie hat. I also carried a neckgator just incase the wind got to be to much for me.

Die sind höher, an den Belastungszonen gepolstert und aus irgendwelchen schnelltrocknenden "Hightechfasern". Im Prinzip wie Skisocken, nur mit anderen Polsterzonen. Random Beispiel auf Amazon

As I said earlier, I am currently wearing Kirkland brand merino wool socks. But if you don't want to buy kirkland, stick with merino wool. I have bought everything from natural materials to synthetic multi part sock systems, and merino wool socks have been the best for days of ruck marching in all sorts of weather. A pair like this is under 9 bucks a pair on amazon.

Socks: Kirkland Wool Socks, which can undoubtedly also be found at Costco. These things are beastly in -30 C weather. I always have cold feet, and with these things I'm so comfy.
