Nice print.

Couple of things to think about for the next gen.

STOP USING COUNTERSINK SCREWS!!! you need literally any other type of screw, if you use standard case screws all you need to do is make the hole the right size and it will tap itself. Countersink screws will split your board apart if you're not really careful, and the care doesn't stop when you stop using the screwdriver, because every time you touch the board you're altering the stress on these points.

Although it looks cool, that graphics card is very dangerously exposed, the card probably uses parts that have a 1.8v maximum voltage on the parts right next to 12v inputs from the power supply, any stray bits of metal like a dropped paperclip or pinged hairband will land cleanly on the shelf you've exposed and you could very easily kill your card and perhaps your whole system. The rest of the system also suffers from this as it seems to only be IP1x rather than the IP3x that you'll get from a commercial case, but the motherboard isn't so at risk because of its orientation. If you could flip the whole lot upside down it would help, but this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Express-Degree-Right-Angle-Riser/dp/B01ASPS8PK would just relocate the card so it was vertical and the most vulnerable parts would be facing the motherboard.

The PCIe port isn't really designed to support something like a graphics card, you'll want to design in somthing to support it that cant be knocked.

I would first recommend getting a internal Parallel card like this one, if you have an available slot. Windows 7 recognizes Parallel ports just fine in my experience (for printing) but USB to Parallel is perhaps too different from built-in Parallel ports or internal Parallel ports.

If that option doesn't work look for a computer which already has a built-in Parallel port and maybe install Windows 7 on it. Or if that doens't work try XP.

It could be that your onboard parallel port doesn't like being a "real" parallel port.

Some modern motherboards have "Lite" versions of parallel ports, which, while enough to run printers without complaint, don't work properly for machine control. It's stupid and annoying, but they're cutting costs while still supporting what 99.9% of the average userbase would use it for.

A quick search shows that people are having good luck with Netmos Cards, but your mileage may vary. Have a look around for known working model numbers, and give one of those a whirl. That sucker is $15 shipped, so it's not a big investment overall

Also, what was the configuration of your old computer? Machine control doesn't require a whole lot of oomph, and a good number of people run their machines on decade old P4 machines without a hitch. Seems a bit fishy that you'd be having that sort of problem.

The parallel port is on my actual machine, but it's one of these.

You might have a point though... I also own a GB Transferer 2 and for literally every game I get errors with that too. I swear it USED to work... but I used that in a VM as well.

I'll see if I can borrow one of our old Dells from work, they came with Windows XP but I'm sure I can stick 98SE on there easily to use the GameShark software.

The reason I didn't think anything was wrong with the .gbs files though, is that I googled around and found somebody's post mentioning a similar problem - he uploaded a .zip and all but one were that same 56KB size as mine. So I think that's just how the GBC GameShark does it, and since VBA is, well a GBA emulator, they probably coded it for GBA snapshots.

It seems I'll need to buy an adapter..

Found this that should do the job:
https://www.amazon.ca/PCIE-SSD-3-0-4-LANE-ADAPTER/dp/B00KDM75XK

Do you have a desktop you could temporarily install some hardware in?

https://www.amazon.ca/PCIE-SSD-3-0-4-LANE-ADAPTER/dp/B00KDM75XK

You could use that, as it does support a 4-lane NVMe card. Then access and copy files off of it onto something else.

Thank you again!!! So I found this http://www.amazon.com/Addonics-ADM2PX4-Pcie-4-lane-Adapter/dp/B00KDM75XK

And it seems to get the 950 pro to 2kmbps read speeds according to the reviews so I suppose I'll order it. Does it look alright?

Thank you again :)
