for my 4 year old's birthday party, in lieu of gift bags, i set up a "puppy adoption center." i ordered a this pack of cheap, small stuffed puppies from amazon, these treat boxes that i marked with blank name tags, "puppy treats" (bags of scooby-doo bone-shaped graham cracker cookies, and mini frisbees for dog toys. i put up a sign with instructions, had a cup full of different colored markers, and let the kids go to town at the end of the party. we had kids in attendance ranging from like 2 to 16 (lots of older cousins!) and it seemed to be a hit for all of them.

just disclaimer some of these toys should only be played with under your supervision so use your best judgement. Check any rubber or stuffed/fabric toys daily for wear and if you see it starting to come apart throw it away as any loose pieces can be swallowed and cause a blockage. My ferrets aren’t chewers they just like to have toys to stash so I’m not as worried but everyone’s ferrets are different so be careful. Also you could make a dig box with rice (never instant) or dried pasta which is a lot of fun for them. They love tunnels, they love to dig, and they love to steal and stash small objects so the toys meet that criteria they’ll be happy lol

1.) Something that is blue.
This Neblua Funko Pop is not only cute, but also BLUE.
Because Mother's Day is around the corner, how about this gorgeous necklace?
Not only that, but are you a fidget kinda preson? Then this is the perfect thing for you!

2.) Something that says summer (literally or figuratively).
Gotta love summer! You know what comes with summer? Sunflowers!
For some reason, pineapples really remind me of summer. I can't really say why. They just, like, SCREAM "summer" to me.
Summer, to me, also means relaxing with a good book. And what better book than the next one in the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin?

3.) Something food related that is unusual.
Not sure if this counts as unusual, but I thought it was quite abnormal...
Also, I can't say I've ever seen a water melon cake-topper, though I'm no expert on cake toppers.
Also, if horror movies and the undead are your kinda thing, how about a side-dish of zombie?

4.) Something you want to gift to someone else, and tell me why.
I really want to gift this beautiful Pop moment to my brother, because he's amazing and deserves all the things.
I also want to gift this soundtrack to my sister because she's always singing, and I know it'd makes her happy.

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it!
Oh my gosh, you are totally asking the right person. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is one of the best books that has ever existed. Not only that, but it's a series! Also, my username is taken from the first page of the book, so that must mean that it's good. It's got suspense, kids with powers, and some horror themes. It's just overall a great book. PLEASE check it out!
Another good book series is the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. The final book is coming out this year, so I'm excited!
Why stop there? Another great book is All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. It will break your heart, but in a good way. It's a beautifully written book. I'm not sure what genre you like, but it reminded me of the genre of books like The Fault in Our Stars and Everything, Everything.
Another great series is The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken. Not only is a great series, but there's also a movie coming out in August that's based off the books! Better get reading. ;)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related!
These are totally adorable AND affordable! Talk about a deal.
Like writing? This notebook would be the excellent choice for the writer within! Or just someone who likes taking notes.
Have a cat? How 'bout some good ol' catfood?

7.) Something related to dogs. (Bonus point if it works for my GSD)
I don't know what GSD means I'M SORRY! But here is the cutest alligator plushie. Like if I was a dog I would legit want it for myself.
I stumbled across this adorable squirrel set thing and I am internally squeeing at the cuteness.
Okay by now I really want a dog. Somebody send me one pronto. Here's an adorable taco plush, because heck it's cute and funny and I really want a puppy.

8.) Something that is not useful, but so awesome you must have it.
Oh boy, you shouldn't have asked. It's the most expensive thing on my wishlist, and it's beautiful. I know, I know, it's a book, but it's more than that! It's a HUGE book with photographs from my favorite, most-loved movie series! Seriously. Words cannot describe how cool of a book it is. And there's a limited number of them made, and there's only 3 left in stock. But I digress. It's not what one would consider useful, but it sure is awesome.
Wait, what's that? I haven't mentioned Kylo Ren in 2 minutes? Oh boy, better change that. Yes, I love Kylo Ren. I'm aware that is a touchy subject with people. I don't care. I have a shrine in my room for Kylo Ren. This pillow is not what most people would call necessary, though honestly I would probably beg to differ.
Pretty much everyone can agree that Funko Pops aren't necessary, but they are so much fun oh my gosh. Like, for instance, this somewhat expensive yet cool Darth Vader Pop.

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why?
I love movies. With a passion. But my favorite movies of all time, are The Hunger Games movies. If that wasn't evident by the massive expensive book above, then I don't know what is. But honestly, they're great movies. I know they're not for everyone, but they hold a special place in my heart.
Someone recently gifted me Moulin Rouge, and honestly it is so good. So, I also, of course, recommend that. It has singing, great vocalists, great songs, and a great plot. It also has Ewan McGregor, so what's not to like?
I saw Logan (the final Wolverine movie in theaters, and it is such a beautiful movie. Very sad, but very beautiful. The best Wolverine movie in my opinion. 10/10 would watch/cry again.
Another great futuristic movie is V for Vendetta. It's a well-known movie, and it's very good.
If you're into horror, I love the most recent Carrie movie. I know it's not for everyone, but I really liked it.

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain.
I mean, I think it's pretty self-explanatory, but this bat would make a great weapon in the apocalypse. Also, if you're into leading an army and "saving" people, this bat will probably get you there. (Ahem I totally didn't just buy this bat for myself cough.)
Not sure if bright green is the way to go in the apocalypse, but I'm sure a bow and arrow set would keep you alive for a little bit. Especially if you happen to be Daryl Dixon (though I guess he technically has a crossbow... I digress).
Don't try and tell me that in the apocalypse you won't get peckish. Everyone knows that snacks will be the first to go. Better stock up on those sweet, sweet snacks.

There are many different kinds of toys and puzzles that will keep him occupied when you aren't at home. Just choose something centered around your dog's motivation, whether it be treats, toys, or something else and don't forget to play with him yourself!

On a different note, I used to have a dog who started chewing when he was a puppy. I made it absolutely clear to him that I was VERY unhappy when he chewed through my headphone cord, then gave him a length of denim from the scrap box and said, "This is for you." Ever since then, he'll only chew things you give to him explicitly.

Hi! We’re in the same boat. We live in an apartment with 3 neighbors (either side and below). Our 10 week old Goldendoodle screamed the entire first night. It was so loud, we were forced to stay with her until she fell asleep. The second night was similar, so we brought her crate into the bedroom, which helped so much!

I also found this sheep with a heartbeat that we placed in her crate. All for Paws Puppy Behavioral Aid Dog Toy Plush Toy Sheep, Heart Beat Pack Inside

Not sure if it was moving her into our bedroom or the sheep, but she sleeps through the night.

Now if I could only get her not to scream when I crate her while I’m working from home...

  1. This elephant plushie is my dog's security blanket. He sleeps with it, carries it around, and must have it with him at the vet to keep him calm. The first one wore out, and he's on his second elephant. Going on six months and he hasn't torn it up at all. We have a third squirreled away just in case.

  2. Nylabone indestructible peanut butter bone. We got this a year and a half ago and it's still going strong. It's not his favourite thing to chew but it has lasted the longest!

  3. XL unsplit elk antler. The gold standard of chews in our household. It's helped keep his teeth squeaky clean with no tooth-brushing. One of these will last 4-5 months with daily chewing.

  4. A thousand standard tennis balls. We take walks by the tennis club and pick up balls there. I don't think I've ever paid money for them. We used tennis balls to train my dog when he was a puppy, since he didn't care about treats. Every day he gets at least an hour of fetch time at the park, and he usually carries one of these on walks to keep him focused.

  5. Black kong. No explanation needed. Our favourite stuffing is mashed banana and plain yogurt. Mango lassi is also good.

We have a 2 year old golden who destroys stuffed toys in 30 seconds. We purchased the dog toys from the link below and she still has not figured out how to shred the toy.

No problem I got him a head halter and my girlfriend used hers separate this toy https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L0NC4JU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mXjaBb1CAG1GZ

It has no stuffing and both of the dogs like the rope feel.

u/msmaynards · 1 pointr/dogs

These fleece covered rope tug toys from Costco. After much searching found this one from Kong. Cuter than the Costco ones and the princess likes chewing fabric that's over rope.

Really ugly fleece bone shaped toys. Fit the mouth perfectly and are usually used like pacifiers. Squeakers are long dead but the popping sound is apparently still fun.

A mat sewn across so about a dozen squeakers fit neatly in with legs and head on various sides. Sort of hedgehoggy in appearance. Half the squeakers have died but dogs continue to not rip off the limbs or remove squeakers. I like that it can be thrown like a disc.

Hedgehog stuffies have a simple shape that aren't dissected as fast as more complicated ones. Currently there are supposed to be 3 mini tennis ball sized ones here.

Loofa dogs, the stuffed latex ones. The stinker is on his fourth one in 4 years.

Current dogs are easy on toys though. Mostly they just drag them outside and they get filthy.

u/tabletopgames · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Awesome! Our family loves Disney, so I put a Cheshire Cat on my Wanted Wishlist.

I absolutely love my Dad's dog, Kenzie. Whenever I go over to her house, she can tell it's me and try to jump out of her play area to come see me. She doesn't do that with anyone else.

It's probably because she knows she goes on adventures with me, and she loves adventuring.

u/annajyu · 1 pointr/dogs

My mutt would be happy with 4 Lambchops and 1 squeaky kong tennis ball.

u/OMGitsjessie · 1 pointr/husky

My husky puppy is ~5 months old, and she ruins every stuffed chew toy I can throw at her--she just loves tearing out the stuffing. The only two that have lasted a little over 2 months (and that is with confiscation of busted toys, followed by re-sewing and re-stuffing any tears in the fabric about once a week) are the ones that are manufactured to be tough for chewers. We like these two:

http://store.fluffandtuff.com/wally-mallard/
http://www.amazon.com/KONG-Shakers-Stuffed-Caterpillar-Dog/dp/B00H708PLC

She is terrible at fetch with tennis balls, but will fetch those toys most of the time. Also loves frozen peanut butter kongs, and bully sticks. Honestly right now, she's just playing with an empty gatorade bottle and it is the BEST THING EVER!

u/headbean · 1 pointr/dogs

My puppy goes nuts for any GoDog toy. The pig, rooster and rhino are her favourites. This rhino from Kyjen however, is a lot more durable as the material is thicker and the shell thing (not sure why a rhino has a shell) doubles as a frisbee. My dog tore the horn, but I just removed it and sewed the wound shut and the rhino is back in rotation. Also, the GoDog range have really funny squeakers.

u/movingtocincinnati · 1 pointr/dogs

The runny poop probably for the food change. If you go to the vet can you ask him for prescribe kibble or formula, your puppy is way to young to eat normal puppy kibble. You are doing great by introducing her to crate, my suggestion is to connect it with playpen. Be consistent about potty training and training in general. You cannot take your puppy out and meet other dog because she is vulnerable of parvo, Google it and ask your vet about the parvo rate in your area.

My husband bought a toy with hearth beat in it, you can find it here:

SmartPetLove Snuggle Puppy Behavioral Aid Toy, Pink https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004RQE5AY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_vIdTBbQR6PZA9

It help our puppy to calm down when we brought him home. Good luck and post some pictures!

For biting, go to a room with one toy and initiate play, when your pup bite you, stand up and leave the room for 10 second. You may have to do it multiple time until your puppy get it. Also join r/puppy101 !

u/centerofhearts · 1 pointr/AustralianCattleDog

You are very welcome. My ACD occasionally likes to bury stuff like that too, especially rawhide. But he spends lots and lots of time with his horn and hooves (which are cheap - I always have a few on hand in the yard and replace them with fresh ones every week or two). It took him a few days to get the hang of the tug-a-jug but since then he works that thing until he get the last piece of kibble every single time. Other toys he spends tons of time with are his bunny and his raccoon. I'm sure he would recommend them wholeheartedly. If you have a classic Kong, you can fill it with peanut butter and freeze it. That'll keep most dogs busy for a while (start with a few pieces of kibble in the tip before stuffing, otherwise a dog may go crazy trying to get the last bit of inaccessible peanut butter). Especially early on, I would leave a big variety of toys and lots of them. You may also want to check out /r/Dogtraining and see if you can pick up some more tips there.
