Found the link on amazon, decent reviews as well

u/Minority8 · 75 pointsr/INEEEEDIT

This site tries to create an adjusted rating by filtering out suspicious reviews. There aren't enough for this product, but it's a pretty cool site.

They're so far behind they don't even have a clue. Here's a tip for everybody.

Motocross armor. Like this.

https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Protector-Street-Motocross-Protection/dp/B01CCH71H8/ref=pd_sbs_263_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01CCH71H8&pd_rd_r=VP3WSR98VBFHH46KPW9Z&pd_rd_w=9Z5Mo&pd_rd_wg=MAoXe&psc=1&refRID=VP3WSR98VBFHH46KPW9Z

It won't stop a bullet or anything, but in a fist/stick fight? That's as good as it gets while still being legal.

There's a link for steel knuckled gloves lower down on that same page, too. And I'm pretty sure Amazon sells axe handles and grip tape too.

Oh, and I'll say it openly on a public domain. I fully encourage and endorse people protecting themselves against the unprovoked, unreasoning violence of antifa.

u/Chilton_Squid · 9 pointsr/MotoUK

You're welcome

The visor is behaving differently probably because it's a bit more scratched and worn now, and any waxy stuff it ever had will have worn off. Quick squirt of that stuff and you should be good again.

TIL a helmet wiper system is a thing.

pricey.

Im going to second the balaclava that was linked to be a great one to use when suiting. But heres the same one on amazon for cheaper.

I ride every day, rain or shine, from South Pasadena to Koreatown. 110 to 101 to Rampart.

I second the Frog Toggs. I wear the bright yellow ones over my regular riding gear. Rain X (for plastic) on the shield. Pin Lock shield to stop the fogging. I bought my first GoreTex product this season, a pair of REV'IT Fusion GTX gloves. They're expensive but so worth it. Both warm and dry. Just remember to put the cuff of your jacket over the gauntlet so water doesn't leak down your arm and into your glove. The one down side to those gloves is the wiper is for crap so I wear one of these over it.

u/micholk · 5 pointsr/ElectricSkateboarding

Let's not forget wearing protective gear no matter what level you are. There's a feeling in the skateboard community that experts don't need to wear protective gear as much because it looks silly and restraints movement to freely ride. I'm no expert nor beginner but I've found that motorcycle gear looks cool and gives the best protection. I'm sporting Jeans with sas pads tactical sniper military gloves two different types of helmets full fac and head shell and a black hoodie with pads that make me look like total buff badass.

u/agent3x · 5 pointsr/motorcycles

I live in Seattle and ride every day there isn't snow on the ground, which is most days, so that means a lot of riding in the rain.

I run Dunlop Q3's. Fantastic tires, really sticky, even in the rain. Mine have 5000+ miles on them and still look pretty good, but all I do is commute and don't ride very aggressively.

You'll also want to think about your helmet fogging up. Some brands of helmet don't fog much in the rain and cold. I have a Shoei that just looks at a puddle and fogs up, so I got a Pinlock insert for it, which works pretty great. I find that just turning my head to clear my visor is absolutely useless at speeds less than 60 mph, so I highly recommend gloves with a built-in visor wiper, or something like this you can add to your existing gloves. I DON'T recommend Rain-X or something on visor because depending on what it's made of, it could ruin it.
https://www.amazon.com/Show-Chrome-Accessories-Finger-Visor/dp/B0022ZJTKS

Riding in the rain is not so different from driving in the rain. Just go a little more slowly, leave plenty of braking distance, and start braking earlier than normal. You don't have to avoid puddles, especially if they're only half an inch deep. The narrower profile of motorcycle tires actually makes hydroplaning less likely compared to a car, but you should still slow down a little.

The most important thing is warm, waterproof gear. If you're shivering and unable to concentrate or properly control the clutch and brake levers, that's far worse than bad tires or a foggy helmet.

I bought a Fox Titan vest for downhill last year and I love it:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TJZRQM/ref=twister_dp_update?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I got lucky and found one on Pinkbike for $100 that had never been used. Even at $150 I think its worth it.

I also take a motorcycle to work and throughout the day -- It's my only vehicle so I'm constantly taking my helmet on and off. It's been about a year, and I haven't had the problem you describe. What model of motorcycle helmet do you have? Mine is the kind where the entire face flips up, rather than just the visor (not sure if describing it well), so when I put the helmet on no part of it comes in contact with my face. (This is not the helmet I have, but it's a similar design.)

I used to wear CeraVe AM as my morning sunscreen, but recently switched to a physical sunscreen. I was somewhat concerned that the physical sunscreen would be more likely to rub off but so far no problems.

Overall, I'd recommend CeraVe AM as a good sunscreen, I think that the miracle suggestion you're looking for might be to look into different helmets that don't scrape against your face rather than a different sunscreen.

u/apexian · 3 pointsr/MotoLA

I ride from San Pedro to Sherman Oaks 4 days a week year-round, splitting on the 110 and 405; about 38 miles each way. There are plenty of us who commute on a regular basis - I see a lot of the same guys out every day. I've never been down, and even the few close calls I've experienced really haven't been that close. It takes me around 45 - 60 minutes door-to-door. By car it's anywhere from 1:15 to 2 hours, and that doesn't include anomalous events like major accidents and lane closures.

Personally, I'd go mental if I had to do it in my car every day. Every now and then I cage it when I have to make a Costco run on the way home or whatever, and it's a miserable experience.

I ride a Ninja 1000 (less extreme ergos than ZX Ninjas). Commuting mods I've made are bar risers, a Russell seat (https://www.day-long.com/), and Givi tail trunk. As for gear, I wear kevlar lined jeans with hard shin guards underneath (http://www.amazon.com/Shift-Racing-Enforcer-Motocross-Motorcycle/dp/B005M16QY6), a textile jacket with armor, weather-appropriate gloves, and boots. I carry my work clothes with me on the bike and change in my office when I get to work, and again when I leave for the day.

If you become a regular 2-wheel commuter, I think you'll probably want a more comfortable bike. But if you can tolerate it for 45 minutes or so, you can give it a try and see if motorcycle commuting is for you. Hope to see you out there, and be safe!

u/Throttlechopper · 3 pointsr/motorcycle

The extra denim will add protection in a slide, but won't do much to pad you in an impact. You could pick up some cheap motocross knee pads for $20-$25 like these. I have a similar pair for dual sport riding. Another impact point is your hips and butt, not much you can do to pad those other than wearing an adult diaper, but as a bonus, you won't need to hit the rest stops as often.

u/alchemist5 · 3 pointsr/batman

Depends on what you're going for. If you want it to look like the comics, see KirbyW's comment. But if you want it to be 'realistic', I recommend something like this over a black turtleneck, with the proper blue (or red for current continuity, I guess) paint applied. For the pants, slim-fit cargos with shin guards, perhaps?

The mask is pretty easy, 'night mask', or if you want realism, maybe tactical goggles.

"Ninja" stuff might also be a nice touch (grappling hook, throwing knives etc.)

His traditional weapon is 2 eskrima sticks (buy a dowel rod from Hobby Lobby, cut it in half, paint), but collapsible batons could be an interesting alternative.

edit: added a link for goggles.

edit 2: added links for shin guards and knives.

I totally agree - most people dress as a guy in a suit and ski mask, not as a spy.

Just out of curiosity I went to see if I could find an accurate balaclava on Amazon. Instead I found this.

I am also in Florida (southeast) and ride with an HWK jacket similar to u/Admiral_Flapjack. Is it a bit warm? Yes, but not totally unbearable. You will find yourself a bit moist, but the little bit of ventilation the zipper vents provide is helpful.

While checking out the post of the Cookie Monster helmet cover, I came across these jacket vents. I am seriously considering purchasing a pair: Moto Loot Ventz

Ordered a set, when they arrive, I'll post some thoughts.

u/Tradius · 2 pointsr/ElectricSkateboarding

Holy crap, matte black is sick! Thanks for the link. Is there any way to remove the green lining though? I'd like it in all black like in one of the customer pics. Also, I found this motorcycle/street bike helmet off amazon, but I read that motorcycle helmets are usually not preferred for eboarding. Any idea why? https://www.amazon.com/ILM-Motorcycle-Street-Helmet-Removable/dp/B01HEHOCAK

u/mikego · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

I got this skull print half mask last week to wear under my full face helmet to deal with the cold wind lately. So far I love it.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/cosplayers

My friend pulled a good Nightwing by painting panels of a motocross suit from Amazon. This one actually. He made the crest out of foam board. But I would suggest flattening out the chest piece of the armor if you get it.

Here is his costume.

u/mplsbikewrath · 2 pointsr/bicycling

Oh man I don't know much about sleek or cool looking or compact or breathable but I wear a Fox Titan, and it is close to as ridiculous-looking as possible, quite warm (although certainly as breathable as full torso crash armor could be), and fairly difficult to pack away compactly. It does have a lot of flat surfaces onto which reflective tape can be slapped, which is nice.

In general for road biking, the places that are going to take most impacts are your upper arms/sides of shoulders, your hips, and your hands (so wear gloves). Elbows and knees are less likely to be hurt because most of the time your impact will be falling over on your side. Practice not sticking your hand out and just taking the impact on your shoulder; hands and wrists tend to get fucked up pretty bad in falls if they're the first contact with the ground.

You wanna go with hard plastic shell outer layer rather than soft padding outers because soft shit will catch in the blacktop and make you tumble, potentially hurting you worse due to twisting. Hard plastic makes you slide, which means ideally only the initial impact is injurious.

I like the Titan because it's got good shoulder protection, and more importantly, spine protection. I haven't bitten the bullet and gotten hip armor shorts yet because I wear jeans to bike and am unwilling to buy jeans baggy enough to fit the armor under. Good biking jeans (I wear some from swrve.us) will do you better in terms of road rash than knee pads.

Since I started wearing armor, I've crashed out several times, including on wet leaves and last winter, when I slid out on ice going about 20. So far no road rash and only injuries being bruises on my hip of varying severity.

One big word of advice is to avoid the cheap knockoff Chinese shit on Amazon. It falls apart real quick and the padding is flimsy.

Also get yourself a delicates laundry bag to pack your armor in for washing so the mesh doesn't get all stretched out, wash as infrequently as possible to minimize wear and tear, and stick that ish in the freezer on the reg to kill stankteria.

u/kumquat_juice · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

EDIT: Whoops. The helmet is not Prime...

This spatula is!. I'm getting an apartment next year that has a kitchen! I'd love to cook for my roomates as a poor college student!

----

I need this helmet!

My friend I go performance driving a ton in the mountains. Recently, we hit the side of the mountain and almost flipped the car over. We're okay, only cosmetic damage, but it really put everything into perspective.

Right now, he has that same helmet (in medium...I have a large head) and he's planning on purchasing 4-point seatbelts. I know for a fact that we cannot skimp on safety!

Unfortunately, racing helmets are too expensive, but these type of helmets will suffice.

u/zebes137 · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Im not sure what specific models are compatible but they do sell a full facemasks with them already built in.

u/astralrayn · 2 pointsr/cosplayers

One of my friends cosplays Darth Talon and swears by the paint from Reel Creations . They tend to be a little pricey but you don't have much to cover so you won't need a ton of paint. My friend usually SLEEPS in her paint, so I know it doesn't come off easily.

Edit: I've personally used pax paint and that stuff is durable as hell. It's great for small areas like just the neck or the neck and face. Just don't get it in/near your eyes and make sure you buy the remover! (That goes for both these products, ALWAYS get the remover!)

But paint aside, have you considered a balaclava? Yeah they're hot but so much less of a pain, not to mention cheaper.

u/PowerfulKitty · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

I highly recommend these gloves. They have both winter and summer variants. The winter gloves are super warm. They are pretty clunky but that's what you get with gloves this thick. I'll be picking up the summer version next spring.

u/sarroopoo · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

Well I accept the fact that I'm going to have to take my helmet off for certain things. My solution was find a way to remove the helmet without removing the gloves. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MQCY7C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 fit the bill nicely. Thankfully I haven't had an accident test, but it's held up well to a year of use so far. The actual engagement is metal on metal inside of a plastic sheath. Overall I'm confident that in the event that helmet meets pavement, this won't be my failure point.

u/mawhlee · 2 pointsr/NewRiders

You can buy them as an attachment. But I'm not sure the reason it's not standard.

u/klrwaffles · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

I got these. They are thin, and sound pretty good. Built for helmets. I wrap up the cord and tuck it in the back of my helmet when I'm not using them. Don't even notice it. I've recommended these to a few of my friends, and they are not disappointed either.

> What does a bike helmet need any batteries for? If nothing else, I'd be worried about the need to replace it after a crash; it's problematic enough to dispose of a bike helmet properly without adding in a bunch of heavy metals and electronics.

It has a very nice communication system in it, but the company used proprietary non-replaceable batteries (NRB's) to guarantee it will fail on a predetermined schedule, and require total replacement. Here it is on Amazon:

u/SeaTownDude · 2 pointsr/pnwriders

My first set of gear was the First Gear Kathmandu jacket, pants and boots. The pants and boots lasted about one season. I got leaks in the toe and crotch...not worth the money.

I decided to upgrade before last winter and went with the Rev'it Neptune 2 jacket and pants, TCX gtx boots, and Rev'it Kodiak gloves. For as much as it rains in the winter and spring here I find the Gore-Tex worth the extra money. The thermal layer in the Neptune suit is ample and I never found my body or legs cold while riding at 0530 in temps at about 32-34F. However, I did find that my fingertips would get chilled. I do use heated grips and have Bark Busters to cut the wind but the low 30's is cold no matter what. I must note that the TCX boots are also solid and quite warm my toes were only chilled once last winter.

Besides the typical riding gear I'd recommend a pin-lock visor. The damp and foggy mornings can be a bit rough and if it wasn't for my pin-lock I'd have been blind. I also recommend buying a thumb squeegee. These do nicely! I'll further recommend wearing Under Armor cold gear or something like it. A good base layer is, imho, essential to winter comfort.

Edit:: My NUMBER ONE piece of gear is my merino wool buff. I never ride without it. Keeps the neck and face warm in the winter and wicks away sweat in the summer. Worth every penny!

u/Mojave250 · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

That's the one. $45 on amazon, I don't think I would trust that to keep my head in one piece. Or even three pieces. It got good reviews though, so what do I know.

u/positiveinfluences · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

Bro you have no idea what you're talking about lol.

I have these gloves and they hurt a lot to get punched with them. Because physics

u/G00gle26 · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

You didn't have to go through all that with the headphones. I got these a few years ago and it was only $25 and very slim.
EDIT: For maximum awesomeness, if your an Android user, buy an app called eCID and it will read out anything you want to you while you ride (SMS, Gmail, Calendar, etc). Very very handy. It will pause the music, read out your message, and resume music.

u/jethanr · 1 pointr/motorcycles

Well, this jacket is amazing. I have been wearing mine for about a year and a half with all-weather riding. It's armored but the armor is removable, it's lined but the liner is removable, and it's vented and has gussets in the shoulders so it's comfortable while riding. And it looks great. It's not too expensive at $140. But it might be out of your price range.

As for helmets, you'll get a lot of hate here regarding open-face helmets. I get it, but it's my choice. As a beginner I'd suggest a full-face until you're confident on a bike. HJC makes decent helmets for cheap, if you know you'll be replacing it not too far down the road. But if you want an open face helmet I would recommend avoiding A) true vintage helmets because of deterioration issues and B) vintage reproduction helmets, because they just aren't comfortable. I use this helmet, and I love it. I accept the risks associated with an open-faced helmet; a beginner should not, but many do. That's your choice. Nolan makes good helmets with modern fitments like the quick-release strap and the removable liner with moisture wicking and anti-fungal magic whatever. They don't get much love in this subreddit as a brand, but they're good helmets.

As for the bike, yes! The CM400c is a great beginner bike. It's actually nearly the same bike structurally as the Nighthawk 450 I mentioned earlier. Same engine casing (it was bored out to 450 and they added a valve to the head in 1982 a year before dropping the CM line and creating the CB450SC), same frame, same calipers, master cylinder, swingarm, the list goes on. Having owned the CB450SC, I can tell you that it's a breeze to maintain and it's a really fun ride. The similarities are also important, because it makes it very easy to find parts if anything breaks. If you can't find it for the CM400 (c or otherwise) OR the Nighthawk 450, you're not looking in the right place. It's a fun bike to ride (not as fun as the 450 model CM or the Nighthawk, but still fun) and while the styling is more cruiser than UJM, it looks good; like a little brother to the CX500c, but with a better engine design. That 400cc SOHC engine is really easy to maintain, and it falls into the "rock solid Honda" category in terms of reliability. And because it's on the cusp of collectibility, if you maintain it and keep it looking good and running well, you can easily get back what you paid for it, if not more. And because it's relatively easy to maintain, you'll learn a lot about how that bike - and motorcycles in general - work. You'll learn to change/clean/adjust chains and sprockets, spark plugs, and oil. Electrical work isn't too hard on that bike, either. If the bike runs well, you'll learn a lot from it, and since it's not a huge bike, you'll be able to transfer a lot of the knowledge and experience gained from a MSF course over to the bike without having to adapt that information to a larger bike. Motorcycles can be expensive; remember that. But most people here would agree when I say that it's totally worth it.

u/Woodport · 1 pointr/airsoft

I don't know a whole lot about leg holsters, I mostly linked that one because I bought one a while back and I really like it. I forget if it's possible to swap the straps to the other side and make it ambidextrous. Mostly I just mention it because it attaches to a molle belt. I picked up another one and it doesn't have the split belt straps like that, so I can't use it with a molle setup.

Extra layers would protect from BBs well. Having a soft surface will help slow down the BBs as they impact. That being said, things will get pretty toasty.

I like the futuristic/sci-fi ninja look though. Maybe you could go for a motorcycle-style jacket? Actually, now that I did a quick search... buy that. Or something like that. In any case, motorcycle jackets generally have padding and they usually look pretty cool. Given that you don't need it to hold up to a crash at 40+mph, you can just get a cheap knockoff or something. If you do it right, you might end up with an 80s/retro-future look that would be pretty badass.

u/Nihon_Hanguk · 1 pointr/DC_Cinematic

I appreciate the suggestion, but the only problem with it is that this is the base of my suit, and it already has shoulder pads.

I did consider a different cape (mine is pretty thin) but I’m pretty tall, 6’2-3, and finding any cape or anything that can function as a cape is hard to find.

My commute is very short, so I'm not looking for a full body suit or anything.

Ideally, I just need some warm pants I can wear OVER my jeans that are not too expensive and some layer suggestions for my torso.

My current jacket is technically for the summer, so there are some areas with mesh that allow wind through, but so far I've worn a thin baselayer, a flannel, and light jacket, all underneath the motorcycle jacket and I've been fine.

But today is 20-something degrees with windchill and I'm sure I'm going to feel it.

Have any suggestions? What do y'all wear?

u/Topher587 · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I went with an IV2 Helmet from Amazon. I'm guessing that the same chinese manufacturers supply Cyclegear with helmets that get the Bilt logo and a price hike.

I went with this one.

It's really pretty quality. Its got removable everything, and the joint that locks the chin bar down is a metal connector. There isnt any obnoxious wind noise that has bothered me either. Seals up really good. It's a bit heavy, but most modular helmets are from what I've heard. Comfortable inside, and less than 60 bucks before shipping.

Cyclegear sells the exact same helmet with a Bilt logo for around 70, which is cheap as shit if you pick it up in the store.

I'd go try it on, but I love mine. I even bought some cheap headphones on amazon and added them into the little ear pockets and wrapped the cord up under the padding so I can jam to tunes on my phone while commuting. I'd buy another if anything happened to it.

Vanson or Schott for a non-specific-to-motorcycle jacket. I'd say the leather is gonna protect better than a bottom-of-the-line fake leather motorcycle jacket. Or Roland Sands Design Ronin + armor. Good stuff is expensive.

I have this jacket and it's.... Okay. Fake leather, smells like plastic, but it came with armor ("CE Level 3" is BS; CE 2 is the highest, but I figure it's ok for tooling around town), but looks cool.

> Gotcha. I got confused by the $0.01 thing.

Before I took real fuel prices I was saying premium cost about 1 penny more per mile than regular. It's actually 1.3cents per mile with real fuel prices. The point being saying 15% makes it look deceptively bad just like saying 1.3 cents a mile makes it look deceptively good.

People use plays on wording like that to make disingenuous points.

>I actually do care about things like this as the same attitude of letting 'small' things like this slide causes other things to do so.

You can fuck right off with the slippery slope argument. Again, we're talking about extremely minor operational costs in cost in return for getting something you truly wanted. That says absolutely nothing about your character and what you will and will not let slide.

>Doubling back a bit, you don't consider losing access to a liquid $2-3k extra a big deal assuming you get full price back flipping the hypothetical 5k bike but I consider that something worth considering.

Not if it's something I want. Fuel savings on a motorcycle vs an average car is going to save more money than 2k would make on interest so there is literally no downside. Is it as cost effective as a 300? No. But that doesn't mean it's hurting me at all to do it this way and it's something I quite enjoy much more than I would a 300.

Tell me, how much did your riding gear cost you? I'm willing to bet that you didn't spend just 59.99

It's DOT certified so why did you (likely) spend as much as 5x more than you need to.

See how flimsy that argument is? Bare minimum is not always the option you want to go with.

Bleaugh. Would a summer balaclava help at all?

This is my favorite! :)

I think it keeps the head nice and cool.

Are armor vests as much protection as a jacket? Could I wear an armor vest like this and not have to wear a jacket and still be just as safe?

I am a fellow blind airsofter who needs his glasses. For certain reasons, contacts wasn't an option for me. After 9 years of airsofting, here are the two best methods I've found.

Budget method:
https://www.amazon.com/JT-Spectra-ProShield-Thermal-Goggle/dp/B003FVW9BO
The JT ProShield is a FANTASTIC paintball mask that has enough room to fit most glasses. It also has a attachable fan which eliminates all fog. I've played in rainy forests in these goggles and have had no fogging issues even while wearing glasses. You may run into som ADS issues which can be solved by buying a rail riser.

On a side note, shop around for a better price, I just grabbed the first link.

Best method:
http://www.evike.com/products/36909/
https://www.revisionmilitary.com/en/eyewear/accessories/2011-prescription-rx-carrier-and-connector-system
This setup is what I currently use. These googles have prescription inserts which you can order directly from Revision.com I bought the googles from Evike, and then order the RX inserts filled out with my prescription from Revision. This method will cost 150 for the goggles and 100 for your prescription and the inserts. This method also takes more effort. I had to call my ophthalmologist to find out my pupillary distance and other info.

If you have any questions, let me know! Glasses are definitely a pain, but they are workable!

I use this stuff: (https://www.amazon.com/Nikwax-872-Visor-Proof-Waterproofing/dp/B001GUMQI2)

I read rain x can be damaging to plastic visors. The above spray seems to work ok.

After both of my shoulders took hits this year, I invested in a jacket. I may look odd on the trails but I’ve had 2 falls with the jacket on and was perfectly fine. Great use of money in my opinion. Get well sir!

I use these - they work great and can be taken out and switched from helmet to helmet. Sound quality isn't too bad either.

This mask is great, never fogs too

It doesn't look as wide in the picture, but trust me. The mask fan is a plus, too.

It's just a graphic, I needed a helmet quickly for my MSF course and this one had pretty good reviews and was pretty cheap, I know I shouldn't go cheap on a helmet I plan on upgrading soon.

However it is pretty nice, surprisingly not much wind and the airflow is pretty good, fits well too without being very top heavy. I just did a 160 mile highway trip two ways over the weekend and it felt great.

I recently got an Amazon helmet for 70 and I honestly love the thing, its modular and flip up so it works for my glasses, sleek design, comfortable, and way less noisy than my last one, plus the chin strap is one of those nice snug ratchet ones. It even has a fold down sunshade Here it is
