Yep, custom inventory boards.

If you're interested, they are these dry-erase boards, which are quite cheap, this image, printed at 100% width on 11x17 paper and laminated (I got mine done for about $4/sheet), and the items are from this Dry-erase magnetic sheet, cut to size.

Trim the laminated paper to size, slightly bigger than the writing surface of the board, and you can slide it under the lip of the frame, snug and secure. Magnetic sheet is cut to different sizes for different size items, 1-4 squares large. They're magnetic and will stick to the board through the laminated paper.

When a player picks up an item, they ask how big it is. I tell them, and give them an appropriate sized square. They than label it how they want, with text, pictures, whatever. They can also mark up the laminated paper. I highly recommend Wet Erase markers, rather than Dry erase.

Physical Inventory rules are found here.

Enjoy!

If it was me, I'd go for a [simple](http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60152340/] and large dining table. The girlfriend loves these kinds of tables because they can be used with a combination of chairs and benches. Nothing fancy or custom, as easily used for seating people for barbeques (assuming your basement opens up to your yard) as it is for gaming. IMO, having cutouts and cup holders is really limiting and can occasionally get in the way of your gaming needs.

Instead go for simple add-ons like a lazy susan. If you're worried about rings or condensation ruining the table/game pieces, large coasters are always reliable. For food, serving trays are always good, as are TV trays.

If you need a large surface with a grid like nerdbloggerwil linked to, it should be easy enough to mount a pane of plexiglass onto a wooden frame. You can also get plain, unfinished slabs of whiteboard from hardware stores and make whatever marks you need on them. Keep them off to the side and whip them out as needed.

Depending on how you wanted to set up the space, I love this style of bookcase as a room divider. You can use them to wall in a more intimate (or perhaps more intense) gaming space while showing off your collection to either side of the room. A more traditional sideboard is great too, as the top can function as a bar. ! As I was searching for a minibar to link, I saw this which totally works for both game storage and drinks storage.

Comes with a ton of letters and symbols which is nice it was just a pain in the ass to separate them initially

I haven't tried it, but every time I use cardboard, I think about something like this. You can erase the layout when the job is done and reuse on the next, and make notes as you come across evermore damage that the customer didn't tell you about that-needs-a-very-specific-oem-part-with-no-p/n-from-^acompanythatnolongerexists.

Yeah, eeeeevery time.

I taught myself numbers in Chinese by writing them on my calendar in place of Arabic numbers. (I have a perpetual calendar - highly recommend!) I used the characters for a couple of months, then the pinyin for a couple of months. With no additional effort, just checking the date every day, I learned the numbers really effectively. Chinese numbers are so simple that I was able to keep going past 31, so the calendar method didn't limit me that way.

I could really use this whiteboard to put next to my desk instead of the piece of paper taped to the wall I currently have haha. Thank you!

Assuming you want to avoid adult oriented things - and thing that may be considered shady.

I am also assuming your computer is a laptop or relatively mobile.

My suggesting involves a form of selling. First you must pick a subject that you know very well and then think about questions and answers a novice would have.

For example, I know computers/Internet well. Things a novice might ask are:

  1. How can I set up my gmail/yahoo mail/outlook account so it checks mail in other accounts?
  2. How can I set up my gmail/yahoo mail/outlook so that email certain emails are automatically deleted?
  3. How can I see what programs are using the most memory on my computer
  4. How do I backup my computer?
  5. How can remotely view my home computer desktop from my iPhone?
  6. Etc. etc.

Come up with a nice long list of questions and solutions. The idea provide quick/succinct computer advice.

Buy a folding table, folding chair, poster boards, markers, and cookie jar.

    Create Signs:

    Computer Questions Answered! - FREE

Ask me about Computers - FREE QUICK LESSONS

    Quick Computer Solutions - FREE

Got an Internet Question? FREE answers

Pack the computer, table, signs and jar into your car and find a spot with high foot traffic. This could be a downtown street, near public transportation, entrance to your neighborhood, community function (street fair, swap meet), the beach, etc.

Once you pick your spot, setup shop. Unfold the table, chair and put up your posters. Get the jar out, take off the top and affix a piece of paper that kindly asks for donations. Be ready to demonstrate you solutions on your computer.

    Here is what will happen:

First, because you are offering the services for free, people will be more inclined to visit your booth.

Second, everyone has a computer and therefore the topic is familiar. You will have people come by that know their answers and want to see yours. You will have people that are genuinely ignorant about a topic that you can help. You will also have know-it-alls that quiz and grill you.

The trick is to be a good salesperson. You are offering good advice, for free, but without warranty. "This works for me, it should work for you, but I can't 100% guarantee". If you have a great demeanor, people will appreciate the novel advice and provide you a donation you.

    ---

As an added bonus, I would figure out how to record some of your sessions (web cam?). Then you can post the video with the title "How I made $$$$ quickly...." You can also contact the press describing your adventure and I am sure someone would bite.

Finally, check out this video (6 mins): Tina Seelig: Classroom Experiments in Entrepreneurship I think you will enjoy it.

If you know for a fact you'll be playing multiplayer, bring a small white dry-erase board with you, plus enough markers for however many people will be playing. The convenience will blow your mind.

I haven't seen a tote bigger than that, but I have seen people build enclosures from this kind of thing.

T-Sign Corrugated Plastic Sheets Coroplast Sign Blank Board, 24"x36" 3/16" Thick for A-Frame Replacement Poster Sheets, 2 Pack White Blanks Sign https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCKS59R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_AOYWBbGWQDG3E

Cut that to size and use zip ties to join the sides or tape. My local hardware has this in 4'x8' sheets so you might be able to find it local also.

You could use Plexi glass for the front so you can see in.

>do I need those specific headphones or will any high quality headphone work?

Your Sony headphones will work just fine.

> other than plural eyes (because it’s quite out of budget) what would be the most reliable way to sync audio with the boom mic

Download a free copy of DaVinci Resolve and use the waveform method explained in this video.

> ...is clapping good? Is there a better option?

Yes - for dual system sound, you should "slate" every scene with a clap or (even better) an inexpensive dry erase slate.

Again, hope this is helpful!
