redid our kitchen with brewing in mind (yay pot filler!). Installed this hood which works pretty well but won't get rid of ALL the steam coming off the boil. I do 30 min boils which helps.

It's just barely high enough that I can transfer a large bag of grains (10G of a small beer, or 5G of a Big Imperial Stout or something). If I could do it over I'd install a few inches higher.

This is the hood on amazon. Looks like it maxes out at 400 CFM or so, but it has 3 settings and I rarely use high. And it is venting outside.

I have a Z Line 36 inch hood that is reasonable. The highest settings are a little loud but like somebody above said you don't use that setting often. It was easy enough to put up as well.

I would have just installed a recirculating range hood, doesn’t have to be vented.

Hi, We bought this glass waveline tile for our kitchen backsplash. We will have white cabinets. The tile will go up to the top of the cabinets. The home is contemporary. The ceiling is pretty tall, over 10 feet, the hood will be 36 inches.

We are thinking either a hood with curved clear glass like this:

or a trapezoid hood like this :
trapezoid

Which one do you think would look the best?

This is the range hood I bought (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0754N5RR9/), and it says it has a built in grease filter (which is fitted before the fan unit); assuming it works effectively, that risk seems like it would be mitigated.

Due to my stoves output I required a high cfm vent hood. This is what I’m trying to install and it’s Pretty quiet even at max speed

Sub'd.

I just had a Z-line put in and was considering doing the same thing. But I've got my hands full at the moment so I probably won't get to it for a few weeks at least. Hope you find a good solution.

Have you considered something like this:

or this:

And along with that, do you know if your backsplash is tiled all the way up to the cabinet? If it is, you could take out the current one, get one of these built in ones or a similar one and mount it in the cabinet. The only real concern would be how much you can move your vent pipe as you would likely need the connection to the range hood to be a bit higher up.

It would get it up and out of the way though.

Well you can certainly frame in a drop and drywall it as Afyaff recommends, but I don't know how much you would like the results (or the amount of work it would take). I would put in one of those pop down drafts... (might be a pain if you already installed your range) http://www.amazon.com/Broan-283603-Stainless-Downdraft-External/dp/B00146KBP8/ref=sr_1_1?s=appliances&ie=UTF8&qid=1449521768&sr=1-1&keywords=downdraft

There are actually lots of cheap made- in-China hoods available now that move 700+ CFM.

I installed one in my kitchen earlier this year that cost about $300, but I'm seeing some that are selling for half that price.

As you said, you get what you pay for. But 760 CFM for $150 is an insanely low price, and if it breaks after a few years, you can just get another one.
