ShoeMGK Clean Shoe Cleaner & Conditioner Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0045OONOG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_A8BwCbRNAVW7D
DO NOT buy vans cleaner from the website. That one will fade the colors (like the black in these). MGK has worked wonders on my Vans and other shoes too.

Crep is ~$15 for a 5oz bottle and JM Repel is ~$17 for an 8oz bottle

Crep $3/oz, JM Repel $2.22/oz. /r/theydidthemath

Fuck all that, if I'm gonna do it I'll just do it right.

Brand | Price | Bottle Size | Cost/Oz
---|---|----|--
Crep | $14.37 | 5 oz | $2.87/oz
JM Repel | $16.72 | 8oz | $2.09/oz
Kiwi (Shoe) | $8.95 | 7.7 oz | $1.16/oz

  • [Tarrago High Tech Nano Protector](https://www.amazon.com/Tarrago-Hightech-Nano-Protector-Spray/dp/B003U47QBY/ref=sr_1_19? s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1498842954&sr=1-19&nodeID=7141123011&psd=1&keywords=shoe+protector+spray) | $9.69 | Written in Metric so idk ^^it's ^^8.45 | $1.15/oz *

All prices are when I checked it so if you're finding this later just do the $ amount/fl oz size of bottle.

Kiwi is the second cheapest and was vouched for by /u/thikthird.

Tarrago is the absolute cheapest (by 1 cent over Kiwi) and I have seen it vouched for several times, so if you got $10 pick Tarrago or Kiwi.

I have always used Kiwi brand stuff. They sell various kits on Amazon. You will want a brush, buffing cloth (chamois) and foam applicators. Here is one that comes with black and brown polish as well:

https://www.amazon.com/Kiwi-145-000-Leather-Care-Kit/dp/B002YX0SFS/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1522686553&sr=8-5&keywords=kiwi%2Bshine%2Bkit&th=1&psc=1

You can find conditioner separately. My routine is to brush them first to get off as much dirt/dust etc as possible, then use a damp sponge or cloth to clean them more thoroughly. Dry them off with a clean cloth and them let them sit a few minutes to air dry a bit more. Apply conditioner (be careful not to use too much), wipe off any excess, and let sit for about 30 minutes. Next apply the polish with one of the applicator foams. Let it set for about an hour to soak in and dry, then brush off with your brush and finally buff to a shine with the chamois.

It will add "character" but you can fill in deep scratches and scuffs with this https://www.hangerproject.com/saphir-renovating-recolorant-repair-cream.html

I have used that to fill in some holes and it made them invisible.

You could also smooth that out with some conditioner, wax, or leather honey. I have the same saddle leather case on my iPhone X and a product called Leather Honey worked very nicely on it.

Stains on leather is a tricky business. It's hard to determine the best approach without knowing the finish and tannage. This is generally why leatherworkers use leathers they know intimately. Can you post a photo? The best first step would be to use a gentle saddle soap and see if that works. There's two main types: glycerin bars and yellow saddle soap in a tin. Fiebings is one of the better makes. I would go yellow saddle soap before you try anything else. If you don't have any luck you can take a more serious approach and use Saphir's Reno Mat cleanser which can be found here.

Sorry if link is funky but Im on mobile.

oxblood, burgundy, etc. if youre really unsure about it and arent interested in the possible darkening that you might get with a polish that isnt spot on, you could go with a neutral polish. all of the shine but no worry of changing the original color.

on a related note and because you say youre just starting a polishing kit, i cannot recommend a shine box highly enough. classy way to keep your kit together so you dont need to worry about shoving it into a closet or under a sink (which makes me much less likely to shine my shoes regularly), it makes the actual shine much easier when you can just put your foot up, and i am of the opinion that the smell of polish and cedar is manly as fuck.

I know it has mixed reviews, but if you're working on leather, this is the best I've used. I used to work at a shoe store and this would take permanent marker off our counter. We used to clean everyone's shoes after they bought a pair to get them to buy the cleaner.

Renovating Repair Cream can be used to fill the void. Just make sure that you only apply it to the damaged area.

You can reference this video to learn how to use it effectively.

Wouldn't recommend buying a sheet of rubber really, unless you're looking to do this more than a few times. Sheets can cost more than just buying the fullsoles on Amazon.

You just need to trim the sole then, rather than cut from a sheet. I see a lot of Vibram Newporters going on Chaco sandals. We also use this one, which I've always seen as Aquastealth. Soletech also sells the full sheets,
notably Herringbone, which I like for leather soled sandals, would likely be fine on flipflops. Another cheap 4mm sheets. Soletech isn't really well regarded in the shoe repair industry, so I wouldn't use recommend them. But for a home project, probably not a big deal.

So I've owned three pairs of the Roshe Ones and I wear them all the time.

My last pair lasted about 8-9 months of consistent wear. I'll say that these shoes will last/look good for much, much longer if you invest in some sort of sneaker cleaner. I use Shoe MGK, but there are others for sure.

The set I got came with a bottle and a small brush. With about 5 minutes of cleaning I could restore them to a like new condition. I do this for all my sneakers, and it really can help with longevity.

The biggest factors to consider:
1.) Color: Mine are black on white so easier to clean. I'd imagine very light fabric would be trickier. The black/black/white sole is the way to go anyway ;)

2.) Where you walk: I live in TX, so it's pretty dry and I don't have to walk in snow. If you trek to work or school in shit weather everyday they are obviously going to wear out quicker.

Hope this helps!

tl;dr These are some of my favorite Nike sneakers, clean them and they will last much longer

EDIT: You can get a TON of cleanings out of one bottle of sneaker cleaner.

I just bought a pair of Grenson Christopher Triple Welt Chelsea Boots (Sandstone). I should have posted here first, but what do you guys think of Grenson, Triple Welt, and these boots in particular?

I was planning to get the Declans (cheaper) but they were out of stock in my size + the Christophers were reduced heavily.

I generally wear tapered black jeans but i think they'd look better with slim tapered (the tapered are still a little wide for the boot IMO). Still figuring out what to wear on my upper body to go with it.

Since they're pretty expensive boots - and they're made of nubuck, which is apparently worse than suede which is worse than leather for showing damage/dirt - how can I best take care of them? They seem like a summer boot which I'll only be able to wear when I'm confident I'll keep them tidy.

Starting to wonder whether I should've got black leather since they seem like they'd be way easier to look after..

Do I need shoe tree to go with it? I bought a nubuck brush (http://www.grenson.com/uk/suede-shoe-brush.html)
too and have some timberland nubuck/suede cleaner (https://www.timberland.com/shop/renewbuck-suede-and-nubuck-cleaner-pc010) protector (https://www.amazon.com/Timberland-Balm-ProoferTM-Purpose-Protector/dp/B0091E28XS) and bar (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Timberland-Footwear-Dry-Cleaning-Kit/dp/B00B8QNP2U/ref=pd_sim_193_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=W0E3KQAFTPDYRSBRDM3P).. bought way too many extra bits...

Tuff Toe is available in white... I just bought some off of Amazon.

don't dye! a few drops of olive or baby oil gives you a 1:1 succ.
After that, you need:

for the hairy suede look.

I use this on my Ultraboost and it does pretty good. You inevitably have to reapply a coat every few months but this does it for me on the white boost

u/2Cuil4School · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

Something along the lines of this would be a great starting point (http://www.amazon.com/Kiwi-145-000-Leather-Care-Kit/dp/B002YX0SFS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1367965816&sr=8-4&keywords=leather+shoe+care+kit). Allen Edmonds products cost a little more but are the gold standard for a lot of leather lovers.

I don't have any office supply solutions, bit I recommend stocking up on the caps in the link below. I keep them in my purse for those random occassions, and they look good on all colors of heels.

Edit: I don't work for this company in any form or fashion. I'm only promoting them because they are very handy quick fixes

kevlar laces similar to these

For the cleaning, conditioning you can use a kit like this one

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/goodyearwelt

It's really not that hard to find it in the US...Amazon link

I've used it personally before. Works perfectly fine if the leather is of decent quality. If not it'll probably strip away some of the surface finish. I've stripped some extra polish off a pair of cxl aldens with no issue but when I tried to do so on a pair of W1ks due to a grease spot, the finish was stripped away leaving a dull matte and a rough feel as well so YMMV. Safer option is what robot has said.

u/MrsChiliad · 1 pointr/weddingplanning

Oh that’s awesome, I was considering putting these inserts on them. I’m also wondering if I should get something like this to protect the sole. Did yours get scratched at all? I find it so weird that all these super expensive shoes don’t have very durable soles. I don’t want them to get all messed up.

u/justruin · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I just use this.
