Would like to tag on to this to say buying a controller grip and if you're using a N3DSXL, replacing the nub with a PSP 1000 series stick will hugely increase the quality of play. My brother owns a N2DSXL and made the same changes. If ripping out the nub makes you uncomfortable, videos on YouTube are easy to find. I do not regret it one bit, the psp stick is a full upgrade from the shitty nub.

In 2016 I bought a N3DSXL to exclusively play Pokemon and to enter the MH franchise. I tried MHGEN first and the barrier of the controls, and Gen's assumption that you're already an experienced Hunter made me quit before I even killed a Great Maccao.

Advice online suggested MH4U was a better entry point to the series, and it 100% was for me. That motivated me to find ways to make the handheld more comfortable for my giant fucking sausage fingers.

To me, MH4U legitimately feels like a full sized game stuffed into a handheld system. I still found myself fully immersed, even with 3ds graphics, which really fly below the radar when you're occupied with the technical mechanics that make this series so addicting.

The original camera had a nice optional stand:

If you have the old camera, I would highly recommend this..

You just need something like this...

My TV is super thin also and it works fine.

There are PSP replacement screens on Amazon, but I don't know how you'd connect one to the Pi.

This is a fairly high quality clear protective shell and comes with a carrying case as well. I haven't seen any individual protective shells being sold by Hori in America, but they have two different clear protective shell styles being sold in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong as far as I know, if you're willing to import.

http://www.play-asia.com/protector-case-for-ps-vita-pch-2000-clear-paOS-13-49-en-70-7241.html A full case, comes with a flip-up screen cover and a removable(? impressions from seeing someone else use it) rear protector cover

I got this Hori bundle for my Vita a while back, and I love it so far: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00L6AVNE0/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1453765743&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=ps+vita+hori+case&dpPl=1&dpID=51PqIB4QuoL&ref=plSrch

But holy cow, it did NOT cost this much when I bought it. I think it was in the $20 range when I bought it. I can't attest for any other cases, but I really like the hard pouch this bundle came with.

You can purchase it by itself here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00F34B6JW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1453765792&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=ps+vita+hori+case&dpPl=1&dpID=51VDNXHbqhL&ref=plSrch

I don't know if it will fit in your pocket, but the case itself only fits the vita, so I thought it wasn't bulky.

I asked the same question a while back. no answer...

I was also looking at this one.

Let me know how it is if you get one?

How good are you with electronics? I only ask because the only screen I could think of would be from a PSP-1001 or later model. I have my PSP "jailbroken", so I use that as my retro emulation station. The screens are rather inexpensive, but you might be able to connect one to a pi (I'm no expert, but these screens are probably the best, imo)

Would something like this make it work better?

Would that option be a psuedo way of doing the sticker approach?

u/mechroCutie · 1 pointr/PSP

can you teach me how to replace the plastic?

also, what about replacing analog sticks would that be difficult? im looking at link below.

Has anyone used this specific listing for PSP analog nubs for the C-stick replacement? I assume it'll be fine but I figure I'll ask just to be sure: HUELE 6 Pack...

Figure I might as well go with the PSP stick over the thinkpad cap since I have an old PSP1000 with no nub, lol.

u/seifer93 · 1 pointr/PSP

I'm pretty sure your screen is damaged. You could try replacing it. New screens aren't too expensive.

u/Kurotan · 1 pointr/vita

use the Vita TV?

I got one for $5 once on sale.

u/Khirsah01 · 1 pointr/3DS

I've heard of people asking of the dot mice from laptops, but I don't know how well that works or if it could put pressure on the top screen. I've done the PSP cap mod on two systems (a Galaxy Blue N3DSXL and a Black Friday N3DS) and it's been the best thing ever! It's super easy to move the camera in any game (Monster Hunter and even Hyrule Warriors: Legends is easy to use the camera on, and the camerawork was a fight on its own in HW:L), it's got a larger surface area while not interfering with the ABXY face buttons, and it's flat enough to not press against the top screen when properly installed (you may hurt your thumb shoving it on).

I got extra PSP caps in case one ever popped off or wasn't formed right and I've only had to replace one on the smaller N3DS because when I installed it, I deformed one of the pieces of plastic on the PSP cap inside the oval so it was wobbling too much on the C-stick plastic. The actual C-stick nub under the rubber is a square diamond shape, but the PSP cap is an oval with 4 thin plastic tabs in the shape of a square, those tabs need to be aligned right when you're pushing down so it fits on the plastic square and doesn't wobble too much.

The PSP caps are cheap for a multi-pack off Amazon so just get the 3 pack if you're doing one and the 5 pack if you're doing two or three. I highly recommend the Insten brand as some people have had issues installing some other brands. I used Insten for both of my units and they've been working flawlessly for over 7 months of pretty heavy use as I play a lot of Monster Hunter.

Another bonus: Once they're on there, they don't fall off. You'd have to really pick at it with your fingernails or a tool to pop the cap off once you shove it on there. I recommended the extras are in case you deform the cap on installation so you've got backups.

We were talking about protective cases. The one I have on my Vita looks the same as that image that I posted.

I really like this set. The case is nice, simple and compact. It comes with a plastic cover to put over your Vita and it has a screen protector. I'd just add a second screen protector to the back touch pad, that thing scratches like hell (just buy a cheap ass screen protector and cut it to the shape of the back touch screen).

The only downside is that there's no pouch for games.

u/RickAtCU · 1 pointr/vita

I bought the Hori Starter pack that comes with a case, screen protector and plastic cover thing and I then purchased a skin from ebay. I bought two from that one but there's a lot of different kinds on there for $5 to $10 cheaper than what you'd get from decalgirl and other places.

u/valtmiato · 1 pointr/PSP

Yeah, I'll link you to one on Amazon. Give me a bit.

Edit* Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charger-Compatible-PSP-110-PSP-1001-PSP/dp/B00Z92T4XS/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1536011190&sr=8-6&keywords=psp+charger

That's the one I personally use and I haven't had an issue with it for the year I've owned it. If there's one complain with it, it's that the barrel connector is a bit loose when inserting into the PSP's port.

Then there's this combo pack:
https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Power-Charger-PSP-2000-Sony/dp/B00A6OX5R0/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1536011190&sr=8-18&keywords=psp+charger

Comes with a battery which I've personally used too. Worked okay for 6 months but I would literally have to open it up every so often and short circuit it to get it recognized and back to life. Pretty annoying. Then around a month ago it started rapidly loosing its capacity and I'd only get 15minutes to an hour on it, which was just sad so I tossed it but saved some parts (case and board).

Note: The second link will likely take long to get to you since it's based in China I believe. First link should arrive within a week since it ships from the U.S.

Only reason I put the combo pack up there is so you can test how crap those batteries can be and it's really not much more expensive than the charger alone, if you can wait a bit longer.

Cheers!

There are clear vita protective cases. i got a white assassins creed vita and didnt want to cover it up. So that's what I got.

http://www.amazon.com/HORI-Elite-Pack-Protective-Starter-PlayStation/dp/B00L6AVNE0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1411443763&sr=8-2&keywords=clear+vita+case

this is a good deal here. You get a screen protector *HORI is the best when it comes to them. You get the clear protective case and a carrying case (when traveling, putting your vita in your pocket is an easy way to crack your screen.

If you have one of these things already though, there are plenty of different brands of clear vita cases. You can't go wrong.

u/chinakat · 1 pointr/vita

Just curious, what's a TPU case? If it's just a rubber case then this is really good and comes with the best screen protector out there. For $5 more you can get the carrying case bundle on amazon

u/Wise2TheLies · 1 pointr/PSP

I have this memory card adapter with 32+64GB SD cards.

The regular charger and Sony battery that comes with the PSP should be good enough. Most batteries you find are aftermarket junk and lots of people have bad luck with them.

I also have one of these coming in the mail soon. It fits 2000 and 3000 models only.
