This has happened to me. For me this is a sodium issue - to prevent it, I take salt pills every 4 or so miles (during marathons and during especially hot/humid long training runs) and it eliminates the nausea.

The ones I use are https://www.amazon.com/SaltStick-Electrolyte-Replacement-Capsules-bottle/dp/B071ZMXFYB

Other people take ginger chews with them on runs or use them after to combat nausea.

I bought this super cute/compact first aid kit to carry, it has pretty much everything you would need, but I added wipes for bee-stings to it (which I have needed in the past on several occasions):

I also have these instant-cold ice packs, which work really well:

Shin guards (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Shinnovate-Shin-Guards-Crossfit-Deadlifts/dp/B015Q84L8C ) -- alternatively, lift in jeans or anything with thicker material.

Get the Sisu Aero 1.6 mm. They're a little pricey for what they are, and you have to be careful when you're molding them (also, can't wash them with even warm water; I'll rinse with Listerine and cold water). But, you can barely tell that it's there. I would not recommend using it for striking; I read reviews where people said they got their teeth chipped from kicks and punches, so I use a Shock Doctor for kickboxing.

But for just rolling, this is a solid compromise.

I've spend so much money with boil and bites and it was such a waste of money. In the end, I just spent a little more on a custom mouthguard where I bit into it and sent it in to be manufactured. It fits SOOOO much better and I can even talk with it in my mouth. The cost wasn't even that much.

err, i meant opinions on brands or types. i'm not trying to spring for some expensive shit made for crossfit suckers but the cvs stuff i've tried tends to shred. trying to find the middle of the road option.

Mouthguard. Specifically I like these type because you can talk and drink easily with them on. Only sad part is some field require face masks and don't count these but I own both type to I'm prepared.

Creatine?

Is this good?

It's to protect the skin. This is not a padded undershirt like a few have said, but rather a tape that you stick on. Here is the link.

no problem.

https://www.amazon.com/Venum-Challenger-Mouthguard/dp/B072M381ZK?th=1

I use that one, simple to mold and has lasted me over a year already

u/pb_barney79 · 1 pointr/bjj

I used to use Sisu as well. I now use these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N5TOA4C/ref=twister_B077BHMXLP?th=1&psc=1
I can talk, breathe, drink while wearing them with ease.

Same brand but different one. I used that one when I was playing hockey but it’s bigger and hard to breathe in. I use this one because it’s a lot smaller.

Hey guys. You guys are welcome to try my back braces. I used to sell a lot last year and sold them from $20 - $35, but I'm a bit overstocked and I'm not looking for profit anymore, I'm just trying to provide for anyone with back problems.

It's $10 now, basically the amount for costs + shipping.

Check them out: https://www.amazon.com/Posture-Corrector-Straightens-Comfortable-Shoulder/dp/B01HN0WWZK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497241872&sr=8-1&keywords=copper+active+back+braces+posture+corrector

I wonder if something like a football or boxing mouth guard could be modified. Something like these:

https://www.amazon.com/SafeTGard-Adult-Super-Mouthguard-Strap/dp/B00ZY5MQXA

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002N6R28W

https://www.amazon.com/Shock-Doctor-Double-Strapped-Mouthguard/dp/B0028R9TPK/

This one looks about the best for this purpose:

https://www.amazon.com/Vettex-Double-Mouth-Guard-Protection/dp/B010E34MHO

You'd have to remove some material from all of them . . . but most are just a couple of bucks.

  1. Unfortunately, I don't know the area

  2. Eventually, you'll probably want to upgrade, but I used this before I got my Gladiator: https://www.amazon.com/Redline-Sportswear-Mouthguard-Vented-Case/dp/B01A1L8JG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484086101&sr=8-1&keywords=redline+mouthguard

  3. I have paid $130 - $150 at both locations I've trained (downtown in one major city in the U.S. and downtown in one second/third tier city in the U.S.)

I got these shin guards because I was always garfing up my shins, sometimes even while wearing long socks. Now I never lift unless I have these on, whenever I can help it (deadlift, clean, snatch). They've been quite effective.

They're thin and light. Some sort of flexible but durable plastic on the inside, sandwiched inside thin outside layers. Velcro closures at the top and bottom.

If I had to make one complaint, it's that there's no ventilation wherever they cover you, once they're on (the backs of your calves will be mostly uncovered). To be expected, considering the design. So without socks, you might get a bit sweaty; with socks, they might feel somewhat on the warm side. It's a tradeoff I'm willing to make to save my shins, but I can see some folks not being quite on board with that.

In case anyone's curious: the material isn't wearing thin at all at the usual bar contact points. I've had them for about a year now.

Venum Challenger Mouthguard

Not as thin and sleek as some of the other mentioned here but for the price + functionality, this is top notch. Can speak and breathe great after a few weeks of breaking it in/getting use to it. Solid protection, have taken full knees/elbows to the jaw no problem.
