I use these pull ups, it keeps me dry all day

We use a cloth pull up for nighttime. It’s usually dry- only wet once or twice a week- so I know she can hold it all night, but we value sleep more than potty training!!! We tried just using undies and she got so upset when she wet the bed one night it took her forever to get settled again. Likewise for waking her up (plus we also have a 5 month old so mama needs as much sleep as I can get!!).

We put undies on her under the cloth pull up so that if she doesn’t wet it, we can just use it again the next night. I used to use disposable pull ups but they get kind of crinkled after multiple wears (if they stay dry).

I figure eventually she won’t want to wear a giant cloth pull up with unicorns all over it and then we can deal with night time. Hopefully when baby sister is sleeping through the night!!! 🤞🏻

As an aside, many pediatricians feel that pull-ups prolong potty training because they are so diaper-like. They recommend putting your kid in regular underpants, with a rubber pair over them. They'll feel wet and dirty, and want to use the toilet more often. Plus, everything is washable, so no spending money on pull-ups!

These all can be purchased at Walmart, target or any store really. Pampers also has under jams that are pull ups for older children and then of course each store will have their store brand bedwetting pull ups mileage may vary on those.



As always make sure to consult with a doctor to make sure there isn't an underlying cause for the bedwetting.

I recently went out and bought several types of trainers/potty pants so that I could compare them before I bought into one type. I'm at a similar point as you are where my little guy has been going on the potty for quite a while and doesn't 'produce' much in his diaper so the girl at the store said it's a perfect time to get him into trainers. Keep in mind that the whole point of the trainer is that the baby feels the wetness when they have an accident so be prepared for some spills. You could limit the spills by putting a diaper cover over the trainers.

These are great when we're hanging out around the house. If he has an accident they tend not to leak right through. They have nice thickness to them, and I like to let him wear them without a waterproof cover. They have some great designs too so I let him run around the house in just these on hot days.

These potty pants are what they call an all-in-one...they have a waterproof cover so they'll hold leaks in better. I really like how streamlined these are and the inner fabrics are hemp and cotton.

These are almost like regular undies and at this point I find they leak too much for our needs. In the future I can see us using these more since they're adorable, very soft and organic cotton. These are in the same boat as the previous ones...they're just too thin for his needs right now BUT they're a great price and all cotton. I can see us using these a lot once he's better trained.

Just a note...the girl helping me at the store mentioned that even with the waterproof covers these are not really meant for naps or car rides. I would agree. I still put him in his regular diaper for those. When we're hanging around the house though I just make sure to put him on the potty after every meal and nap (or whenever he points) and on those days he has very few accidents.

I truely want to nominate myself and I usually wouldnt..I am a grandmother of 5 and am raising them along with the other grandma who is elderly. Our children have made bad choices and are not allowed to see the kids. The case will soon go to court to give us legal guardianship/adoption..It really is a sad situation all around..these children are my world they are 8yr 6 yr 4 yr 2 yr and soon to be 1 yr old we have our hands full but it is rewarding for me to see them smile or even happy! Is it the cloth that confuses her, or the diaper style? I know there are some pull up options for cloth (see here) but have you already tried those?

Personally I'd just get some Dappi covers and some Gerber training underwear. But there are also other options like best bottom's potty training kit or blueberry training pants. They're more expensive though. Generally with potty training we just get our kids use to the little potty and then have them run around bottomless or in underwear so they learn that they'll get wet when they don't use the toilet. But I could see getting a couple of cloth diapers for overnights since most kids don't stay dry overnight until they are 3 or 4.

I'd purchase a few more than you actually use per day, because with potty training there will be accidents! Especially with one so young! So, if you're going through 5 diapers/day and you want Flip shells, I'd get at least 7 shells. That's in case of poop accidents, heavy pee accidents, and if you don't want to wash every single day.

When we potty trained our daughter, we used KangaCare Lil' Learnerz' training pants. They weren't as absorbent as a diaper, so we did get some accidents, but they were super easy to pull off/on. I bought 3 packs (6 total), plus a few more from other brands and that got us through 2-3 days. However, we didn't start potty training until 23 months. The xs and small sizes come with snaps on the side so it makes poop accidents a little more manageable!

For night time, it sounds like you've had trouble with accidents. You could try wool covers with your bamboo diaper. When you lanolize wool covers, they become waterproof and you probably won't have to deal with wet bedsheets as often. My favorite is EcoPosh. Learn to Cloth Diaper has step by step instructions with pictures on how to care for wool covers. Hope it helps!

Absolute cheapest would be to hit yard sales and buy receiving blankets for no more than about 75¢ each; a minimum of 3 dozen would be $27. Then add in some pull-on plastic pants (these from Gerber are just over $11 for four) or better yet buy a skein of Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool and crochet or knit yourself a few wool soakers. Oh, and get a dollar pack of diaper pins at Walmart. Flannel receiving blankets work really well as flats and are cute. Plastic pants have a bad rep but the only problem I've ever had with them is the annoying crinkling sound. Edit: T-shirts from yard sales would work great as well. Cut off just below the armpits, then cut at sides and you get two diapers from one shirt. They're stretchy and I know from experience that they are absorbent. If you can find them somewhere for $1/ea, then you could get 40 for $20.

Second-cheapest would definitely be Walmart's FST; I just bought a 10-pack for $7.88, so four of those would be just over $30. Add in the covers as before.
