See, VCRs could rewind your tapes but they were slow as hell. VHS rewinders spun the spools in your tape at a much higher speed than your VCR did, so the tape rewound a lot faster.

It used to depend on how fast your vcr could rewind. A lot of them used to be so slow that there was something you could buy just to rewind your vhs tapes faster.
In fact, these very machines are more expensive than dvd players on amazon.

I have one of these Kinyos and used one till the cursed star trek tape killed it. But you should be able to find them 10-20 usd used or at a thrift store. And they were common enough to have manuals online .
