To elaborate a bit, I played a bunch of matches today and really tried to find where the differences are. When the control stick is fully extended it's no different in feeling. I tried to find a difference here - I made lots of circles fast and slow with the reticle but it was all the same pattern. However, when you want to make small adjustments, it's completely different both due to the stiffer stick and deadzones. When trying to make small adjustments, it's easy to push just too hard in a direction and send the reticle flying at full speed, which explains the problems people are having. On the original 360 controller, it's almost like there's a middle zone on the stick where you can make finer adjustments without moving the reticle at full speed. On the Xbox One controller, that zone is basically nonexistent. If we had some very granular sensitivity options it could probably be mitigated on the Xbox One controller (not sure about the Elite - I have heard it's different on it too, and that it has stiffer sticks).

And here's the adapter in case you guys want to take a look at it in the studio.

Also, I know a lot of people complained about how diagonal reticle movement is faster, but that has always been the case in H3. I think people are just too used to the smoothed aiming in Reach onwards and forgot it was like that.

Yeah it was a pain in the ass to get it to work. The y splitter was one whole issue, but then it wasn't working with the microsoft headphone adapter or the built in headphone jack.

I ended up getting it to work with the Tritton stereo headset adapter (you can probably find it for cheaper somewhere), because I had an old pair of headphones and was just randomly switching the pieces looking for something to work.

Hope that helps

I’ve seen some that look to be third party adapters on amazon for about $40 CDN iirc. I was thinking of just getting one of those if anything.

I like this guy, no issues that I've found. Every couple of months something will disconnect and I have to re-seat it, that's it.

I think you might as well shell out a 20 and get a new one if it’s that old.

Try this Xbox One Power Supply: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0795QV2BH

It will not let you down.

Kinda expensive if you have to buy them both but I just got this for my Xbox elite controller https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MPF82L4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_mvfPDbXW7P34P
It lets you use the elite controller wirelessly with the switch. Gyro controls and remappable buttons too. Only downside for me is button mapping w/ the device doesn't save when you turn the controller off. Mapping use the Xbox or PC software works persistently though.

With a low budget your best bet is to grab a Kinect v2 (The Xbox One version, not the older 360 Kinect) and a license of Brekel ProBody 2.

It will probably run a bit above 100 USD, more like 200 USD, but it is by far your best bet on a tight budget for Mocap assuming you don't already own some fullscale VR, in which case you could use other software with your VR for mocap (I think Brekel has some OpenVR software as well if you have a Vive or similar that could work with it).

For the Kinect route there are some gotchas to note:

  • The Kinect v2 comes in a "for Windows" version with a USB3 connector or a Xbox One version with the Xbox connector. You can get either, but if you get the Xbox One version you also need an adapter for it to work on windows. Sometimes the Kinect v2 for Windows version is hard to find so you have to get the Xbox One version and the adapter instead.

  • Only certain USB 3 controllers/cards will work with the Kinect v2 on Windows, and even if the controller you use has many USB ports, for the Kinect v2 to work it has to be the only thing using any of the card's ports. Do your research to make sure you have somethiung that works. Otherwise, you can buy a cheap USB3 card on amazon, probably for like 10 bucks or something. I know this one works.

That setup will let you record BVH motion which is a common mocap format which can be used in any major 3D package, Motion Builder, and maybe directly in Unity (haven't checked the asset store but I imagine someone has built something to directly read bvh in Unity).

Gotcha. I had a similar issue with my 360 back in the day.

If your xbox isnt under warranty, you can pick up a power brick here on amazon or $20 on ebay.

u/DoctorOta · 1 pointr/xboxone

I ran into the same exact issue this past month. This is the one I went with and it has been great. It’s been quiet and does what I need it to. I did switch my Xbox to energy saving mode though because third party ones can have issues with the instant on mode.

Upgraded Version Xbox One Power... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DN8NRVC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I didn’t wanna have to upgrade with the massive new Xbox coming out in 15 months so I bit the bullet and for 20$ no complaints.

u/thegroundbelowme · 1 pointr/gaming

Might I recommend something like this? It does require a wired connection, but at least you'd be using a controller you like.

I have these and one official Xbox one. Both work great.

u/194207122016 · 1 pointr/xboxone

Thanks for the recommendation. I went with the Astro A50 Gen 2 in the end as they were on offer at a local shop for €170.
They are really good, except for the mic adapter. That thing is terrible. So I went and purchased a talkback cable. Now it's perfect.
Anyone stumbling across this, this is the talkback cable I purchased: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B017C475WC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Literally stop whining. You can do that all on a console too its not different if the netcode is fair. Its as easy as 15 fucking dollars. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078LRGMCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_OfP6AbWB2J3GR
Also it was in Gears 1 so FoH.
