I've tried several different glues but you've already eluded to the the problem that they have stretched.

You can buy new bits that clip on if your familiar with how they come apart but those bits your talking about you can't get.

These are what I ordered, and they worked great. Unfortunately they run out of stock easily, so timing is key. However, it's a really easy fix. Just pop those suckers off and replace.

I have an "American Flag" one, that I got as a b-day gift, so I didn't know they were <$10.00.


It's pretty durable, and feels like a laptop skin, if you have one of those. Putting it on was a little bit of a pain, as I kept getting "bubbles" on the ends and it doesn't quite cover the whole "face" of the controller, so you can get some wrinkles where the controller curves, if you aren't careful. But for that price, they are worth a shot if you're interested.

I bought these replacement grips and they look exactly like the ones that came with the controller. You just pop off plastic pieces on the controller and snap these replacements on. Still annoying that this happens in the first place, but if you don't want to send your controller in or Microsoft won't help you out, this is an option.

I got these for mine and they look like the originals. Hopefully they ship to NZ

Do you think the buttons not registering could be due to firmware and could be fixed with an update? That's the only issue I have with mine that I've noticed. Y button doesn't register all the time and my thumbsticks on the app lag/get stuck for a split second.

I bought mine through Costco and they have lifetime returns so I'm not sure if the ms warranty is worth it? I'd have to rent a car and drive over an hour to get to my closest one so that brings up the price significantly.

Also I use this controller skin and think it's so much more comfortable with it. It's funny bc the reason I bought it was bc of the grips showing signs of peeling on the v1 but I love it.

Don’t buy SCUF. They’ll disintegrate within a few months. Go to Amazon and find some OEM side rails. If you don’t want to fork out $40 for the OEM parts; there are some that are nearly identical to OEMs and cost the same as the SCUF grips.

Yes, the SCUF grips are cheap and feel great out of the box. I thought the same thing. Then a few months in, the rubber on one of the thumbsticks felt loose and started to pull away from the metal. Even then, I told myself “no biggie, I’ll just replace it with another thumbstick.” Then another thumbstick went. Suddenly, the grips started to feel like they’d expanded. They had. The rubber had deformed and expanded like a sponge. On top of all that, the SCUF logo pattern had taken on a ton of grime that I’d never gotten on my stock elite grips.

All of that happened within six months. I’m a neat freak and make a legitimate effort to keep my stuff clean. Save yourself the headache of having to replace your grips in six months and just order OEM parts. Anything but SCUF.

I get really sweaty hands for some reason, and I use an Xbox One S controller (white one with the plastic 'grips' on the side rails.) and I noticed that it definitely effected my performance due to lipping etc. I also hate the feeling of clammy 'gamer grease' on my controllers in general.

I started cleaning my controller in between matches or while spectating my teammates if I died. I used a damp cloth with soap on it so give it a general wipe down and then let it dry (which it would fairly quickly.) and it helped a lot. I also made sure to start washing my hands before and after use with my controller and that improved it a bit too.

Overall though, I realised it was also just the fact that having a smoothish controller in your hands sucks in general. I tried some of those slip on rubber/silicon grips, but I found that not only were they ugly, they collected dirt and their holes were not perfectly aligned to the buttons/joysticks, thus causing issues when playing.

So I started doing research and found these rubbery/foamy grips that are like stickers, but they don't slide off or leave residue behind if you remove them. They claimed to stop sweating (cus of their material and placement of vent holes), keep your hand from sliding at all and won't hinder your performance by blocking any of the controls. They are called wicked grips and ive been using them for about a week and a half now. I read their reviews, which are less than stellar, but I wanted to try them anyway. I followed their installation instructions to the T and just refused to put on their gold logo sticker (made no sense to me to have it on) but so far they work really well. Some of the reviews say that they tend to peel but I haven't experienced that at all.
