My best friend is going through a nasty divorce with a narcissist and so I got this to figure him out better. It’s informative if you’ve ever had a narcissist in your life (I haven’t really other than her EX and Mark). It’s called “ Will I Ever Be Free of You?: How to Navigate a High-Conflict Divorce from a Narcissist and Heal Your Family ” by Katy McBride.

Hi,

I was hoping, as a fellow human, that you would want to help another human learn and improve they're understanding of the world. If you put half the energy into linking a few books or resources as you do typing emoticons, then this conversation would be over with by now!

It is a bit puzzling that you don't want to provide anything - even a book title. I have explained that based on my knowledge and research, that Voodoo originated in Haiti. However, you and another have disagreed, thus I asked you (and other users) to provide some other sources that show Voodoo originated in Africa. And the other user who I had a similar conversation with (who "owned" me), never said Voodoo originated in Africa, but the religion of Vodun originated there and these beliefs were part of the foundation for the religion of Voodoo in Haiti.

If you don't have any sources because your knowledge was learned a while ago or you don't remember any of the books you've read, then just say so. If you believe that Vodun and Voodoo are the same thing - say so! I won't judge you.

This is the book that started it all for me: The Idiot's Guide to Voodoo.

"When baking, keep in mind that natural and Dutch-process cocoa powders are not always interchangeable -- blindly substituting one for the other can upset the delicate chemical balance in a recipe, spoiling results and flavor (you don’t want your chocolate cake to taste like it was made with soap). Sometimes one cocoa powder can be substituted for the other in recipes. According to “The King Arthur Flour Baker’s Companion”: "

I was accused of greasing my chocolate cakes with soap as a young baker...never knew why till I became a baker...

Don't forget this, the poor kid needs this more than anything if he inherits his Dad's "athleticism."

I’m fascinated by the Jewish orthodox tradition of women covering their hair with wigs. That’s not the fascinating part, 😉. What I find fascinating is that “cheap” wigs are preferred because they’re more obvious. Essentially, the wearer wants people to know she’s wearing a wig.

I first learned about it in a memoir by Debra Feldman called Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005GG0M60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_bpmvDb4W31Y4M) and am wondering if you had any resources/suggestions where I could find out more.

Related: Have you read the book The Last Victim? If you like true crime and can handle something really dark, it’s pretty unique for the genre.

It’s written by a guy who struck up a bizarre relationship with Gacy after Gacy was in prison. The kid was pen pals with quite a few serial killers, but it spun way out of control with Gacy. It ended up very literally destroying his life.

Unfortunately there's so many people still inside the compound completely unaware of any other lifestyle and fear going to hell for even thinking about escaping. They truly do believe that he's their prophet and whatever he says goes! It's mind blowing how cut off from the world they are.

W.J. had 80 wives when he went to jail, he married them as young as 12! This sadistic, sexually twisted freak shouldn't be able to give orders from being bars but he still manages to do so. One of his daughter's wrote a book about her former lifestyle. She was sexually abused by him and he had told her that God wanted him to show her how to please her future husband...she had told her mom about it, her mother confronted him but she also had to obey the phophet! So much horror still goes on behind those walls...it's so sad
