USE SUNSCREEN. Wear a hat. Wear sunglasses, bring extras. Bring several pairs of comfortable shoes, flip flops or worn out shoes are going to be a bad time. Carry extra socks with you, amazing how refreshing it is to change your socks in the middle of the day.
Earplugs are a must, for loud music areas and for trying to sleep.
Bring a larger tent than you think you need. Room is nice. also bring a luggage lock - a small combo lock that can fit through your zippers and make it a bit more secure (but lock real valuables in your car.)
In addition to your tent, bring a 10x10 canopy like this to shade your tent or the area in front of your tent. It will keep the sun off of your skin while chilling, and if used over your tent can cool it off inside.
Get some solar powered lights to put in or around your camp. Find a way to put the solar charger outside, outside lights can help you find your tent, light the interior on under the canopy I suggested, and makes it look pretty cool.
If you are worried about juicing your phone, clip one of these to your backpack as you walk around all day. A good one can keep your phone topped off pretty well. Get one per phone, they aren't that heavy. Beats having to visit charging stations.
I posted elsewhere about using a camping stove, these are really good - make sure to get some JetFuel for each one. Bring old pots and pans, a kettle to make hot water, and butter cooking spray is the bomb to keep things fairly non-stick. To make coffee, use a simple pour over device with cone shaped paper filters. Bring reusable cups for each person.
Bring bags for garbage. Try to reduce the amount of plastic you throw away.
If you don't want to pay for showers, bring one of these camp showers. I also bring another 5-gallon container to refill your bag and for washing dishes etc, and a folding wagon to carry it in because I'm too old to struggle.
You can also just get one of these. Its a solar shower bag.

I never used them myself but last year I went with friends who brought one, they said it worked pretty well in conjunction with dry shampoo.
While I wouldn't say firefly is specifically an LGBT friendly festival, its basically like all the others in the north east area. In my experience I've never seen any homophobia or transphobia at these festivals. Even times when I saw gay couples who were all over each other I never noticed anyone harassing them, even saw a rainbow/LGBT totem some group carried around last year. I think she should be okay standing in lines for the showers but a portable shower/shower bag would be a good way around running into potential assholes.
The best thing I brought to FF was definitely saline rinse spray. Nerdy, yes, but I was able to get most of the dust out and didn't have to figure out where to find safe water. This goes into my "never forget to pack" list along with the bandana from now on.

AMack's Ear Care Ultra Soft Foam Earplugs, 50 Pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0051U7W32/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_6xKazbJ33XAQN
I use these and they're perfect. They're good for concerts, but great for sleeping. I'm a very sensitive sleeper and noise bothers me greatly, and these make sleeping in almost any situation possible for me.
These are the earplugs i use for sleeping at festivals, i have found them to be good because they mold to your ear, just make sure you follow the instructions when inserting so you actually create a seal.

The compressor will make inflation fast and easy. Also good to keep one in your car for flats.
I love my Coleman Roadtrip for tailgating. Stores away nicely too.

Electrolyte tablets. This stuff is pretty cheap; if you have other junk to get off Amazon it'll cost you under 6 bucks atm. And since it's tablets, you can bring them into the festival (you can't bring pedialyte or gatorade in - that's just at your site - or buy the powders).
I was coerced into buying a Hamburglar costume (or more specifically since they couldn't get the rights to the Hamburglar, it's the "Fast Food Burger Thief") for an event that didn't end up taking place. So, since Friday is Hawaiian shirt day, when would be a good time to wear this outfit? Or would wearing a Hawaiian shirt on top of this outfit be best?
Does this mean something like this won't be allowed? Is butane a flammable liquid? Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I don't want to bring a huge grill for just my friend and I.
Something like this, my dude.
I have relied on these Hearos Earplugs for the past year and they are wonderful for dampening the volume but keeping the mid and high range detail.
You might have to buy a pair or three to find something that fits your ear/liking. Also buy some foam guys as backups, for sleeping and for the amigos.
I got these for Coachella this year. Those plus gold bond extra strength and I had no issues with chafing.
Sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen. I ended up getting badly sunburnt at my campsite last year (even though we had a canopy for shade (I'm stupid)) and it severely effected my experience. Wear very comfortable shoes that you don't give a shit about. The past 3 years I've gone to Firefly and it's been a mix of insane mud or insane dust. There's also a Wawa a few minutes from the festival, if you can I highly suggest getting a sandwich either for lunch or whenever, it's cheaper than food inside the festival from what I remember. Another thing, if you're camping, an AC/DC converter that you can plug into your car (this is the one I got for last year http://www.amazon.com/BESTEK-Power-Inverter-Smartphones-Tablets/dp/B004MDXS0U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1456799948&sr=8-3&keywords=ac+dc+converter) so you don't have to go to a charging station or if a portable charger doesn't hold a charge for long enough.
These are the ones I use and they've worked out fantastically They even come with a keychain carrying case so you have somewhere to keep them between sets. I think the sound comes out even better because it cuts out some of the high distortion. And I was front stage for Muse and a few others last year while wearing them and had no ringing at all afterwards.

300 for the low price of $20!
Had a phone lifted from me last year; was in my front pocket too. Always be watchful of the people moving through the crowd looking shady as hell. I got myself this so it won't happen again: Security Waist Pack.
