The best laptop for that would be the Lenovo Yoga 720 2-in-1

· 15.6" 4K UHD IPS Touch-Screen 90% sRGB (Argyll 3D) 59% AdobeRGB

· Intel Core i7-7700HQ,

· 16GB RAM,

· 512GB SSD,

· NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050,

· Thunderbolt, Fingerprint Reader, Backlit Keyboard

This laptop balances work and play with its powerful GPU and its 2 in 1 features which is ideal for drawing, editing and other creative work. It has a color accurate display which is ideal for editing and 4k resolution is a big plus as well. 4k resolution does eat at battery life but you will still be able to get a bit over 7 hours from a full charge if you are using it casually. It has a good port selection with Thunderbolt being the best one as an eGPU can be added if you want more gaming power in the future. Build wise it has an aluminum chassis which is rigid and there is also little flex on the screen

I did some research and ideally yes, you want to match the stick that your laptop already has. Mine however came with a ADATA brand RAM which I was not able to find on Amazon so I bought this Crucial one. I just made sure to get the same RAM speed. The one that my laptop came with was 2666, so I bought a 2666 Crucial one, even though laptop works at 2333 (I think?).

Now for the SSD I bought this Crucial MX500 which seems to be generally one of best rated ones; I also had a good experience with a previous WD Blue I owned but I prefer the Crucial cloning tool.

Now this I what I bought for mine (spent ~$80), you might want to do some research on your own to determine what the best price/quality ratio is since prices are always changing and new deals are coming and going. Might be worth checking r/buildapcsales see if you some luck too.

She would love this very much. It has an excellent build quality, decent performance, thanks to a nice i5 processor, 8 GB RAM and fast SSD in addition, it has a very good battery life and display quality. She will like very much it's sleek and slim design and how easy it is to carry around.

Looking to upgrade my young son’s laptop. He mainly plays Roblox, but will likely branch out as he gets older. Looking for something that will be decent for a few years. Thank you!

you should definitely get this ASUS ZenBook UX330UA because it has great processing
speed, great aluminum built quality, good battery life and a nice IPS display for wide viewing angles which will be great for someone using a laptop for college.
you may also check out my list here for more options.

u/techstar2000 · 2 pointsr/LaptopDeals

I don't think you really need a dedicated graphics card based on what you will be doing, but a low end dedicated card like the MX 150 could be very handy for you in drastic situations. I currently have this Acer Swift 3 that I carry around with me on a daily basis and I really lie it. It comes with an 8th gen i7 quad core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM , fast SSD and a nice 10 hour battery life. I also love how sleek it is and how solid its aluminum chassis is.

u/legos45 · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

Hi, the two devices you listed are definitely solid options to consider. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar II is a great value currently with an RTX 2070 graphics card, while the MSI GS75 provides the best possible performance close to budget. The 9th generation Intel processors perform only slightly better than the 8th generation Intel processors, which makes the 8th generation processors just fine.

u/jhoff1901 · 2 pointsr/LaptopDeals

I have the 15 inch version of this from last year. I wouldn't recommend the 15 inch as it's a little bulky for a backpack and rather heavy. This version might be better though. In your budget range and for your use, what's important is most likely a ~250GB SSD and an i5.

I would encourage you to check out Best Buy because they have back to school sales that might knock an extra $100 or so off of this price.

Edit: don't let people tell you that a laptop is bad because of integrated graphics. They didn't read your use cases and it's just bad advice. Another pro of the best buy route is that you can see screen and keyboard before you buy since those were features important to you.

Edit 2: here is a contender from the recommended list pinned to the top of the sub: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078YMY5VZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_zA5IBbMC55PPV

Edit 3: there are two Acer aspire laptops in the recommended student list. There is a 14 inch one that might be more portable, but there is an aspire e 15 that is probably the best price to performance.

Battery life, lightweight, and gaming do not go together if you want ultra specs. If gaming is your priority you can look at the Dell i7577-5241BLK-PUS

· 15.6" FHD IPS

· 7th Gen Intel Core i5-8300H,

· GTX 1060 6GB Graphics,

· 8GB Memory,

· 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD,

· 5.76 lbs

A powerful gaming laptop which provides great value with a powerful GTX 1060 and a quad-core CPU for below $1000. The system will boot quickly with the OS on the fast SSD and videos, pictures and large files can be stored on the HDD

Super thin, light, and a gaming beast, if you go with the amazon warehouse deal its $1203.80 right now.

Also people have had a lot of luck with undervolting the cpu and getting better boost clocks out of it at much lower temperatures.

Budget: 700-1200 CDN

Country: Canada

Screen size: any

Screen resolution: any

Touch screen: no

Weight: heavy is no issue at all

Main purpose of laptop: stream world of warcraft outside to get vitamin d

If you will be gaming, what are the most demanding games you will play and at what settings? literally just wow

Is battery life an issue? no it will be plugged in.

Other notes: streaming wow outside, just want a laptop that can do that comfortably and without any issues for a few hours a day. The catch is I'm gonna be outside so I thought maybe I'd need better cooling or something.
Looking at:

And what about something like this second hand https://www.amazon.com/Dell-15-6-Inch-Quad-Core-i5-6300HQ-Processor/dp/B015PYYDMQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495008475&sr=8-3&keywords=dell+inspiron+gaming ?

Looks like some good specs for video editting.
OR is here the same issue with the RGB screen? Laptop like these i always can upgrade the ram etc. or not?

u/BabyStockholmSyndrom · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

I went with this Asus S510.

The screen brightness issue in the Swift is pretty much universal in reviews. And I plan on using outside here and there. The ASUS unfortunately doesn't use an IPS screen though. But from what I gather it's mostly for viewing angels and I don't plan on hanging upside down while using it lol.

Also, no dedicated card. But I really wasn't planning on gaming much. And the increased size and weight of the Swift was not all that great either.

Mostly, it was the brightness that made the decision. My current Dell is almost useless outside. I don't want that again. Apparently the Asus has a matte finish so less glare.

I'm in your shoes too and I've been doing a lot of research. I'm pretty close to buying this one:
ASUS ZenBook 13 Ultra-Slim Laptop, 13.3” Full HD, 8th gen Intel i5-8250U Processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB || UX330UA-AH55

This is not a touch screen though

Reasons:
2.6lb
13" Screen
12.7 x 8.7 x 0.5 inches (0.5 inch thickness)
Long battery life (Around 9 hours I think)

Other reasons:
8th gen i5-8250 is pretty much mandatory
1080 display on 13"

I wish there was 1TB instead of 256gb ssd though. But,
I think this is the most portable laptop without an HDD.

u/rushrage · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

I'm looking for the best laptop around $500 that offers durability and productivity and the best I've found is this ASUS VivoBook 15 (AMD 3500U, 8GB ram, Vega 8 GPU). Are there any other laptops that I should look at before pulling the trigger?

The other option that I was looking at was this Acer (i5-8265U, 8GB ram, integrated gpu).

u/jkSam · 3 pointsr/LaptopDeals

/u/The---Technician is the expert here, but I found a couple laptops you might be interested in. Here is an Acer 14 inches and here is an Asus one that is very light and portable but it's $700. You can always get an SD card and have it in the laptop at all times for more storage.

Again, these might not be the best at this price point or they might be. /u/The---Technician knows more than I so maybe he can suggest a better one.

Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2666 MT/s... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KNKBQ1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Honestly any DDR4 2666Mhz sodimm will work. 2666 because that's the fastest the laptop will take. I believe you can get up to 32gb but honestly you won't need more than 16gb.

Proof I ordered: Screenshot

u/opckieran · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

I found this for $550. It has a 15.6 inch screen which is probably a bit bulky to rest in your lap, but it should fit your use case and allow you some decent entry-level performance in games. 3.5lbs (according to the listing).

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VivoBook-R5-3500U-Graphics-F512DA-EB51/dp/B07QQB7552/ref=sr_1_16?keywords=laptop+lightweight&qid=1570724482&sr=8-16

u/supamonkey77 · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

Don't know about this. I got a Dell with similar specs for $700 last November. It had a 256 SSD and I bought an additional Sandisk SSD to insert into its empty slot to make a pretty good gaming laptop.

Budget: $500 tops

Friend asked me to recommend something no more than $500 for his wife to take some online courses. I see a lot of recommendations for the Acer Aspire 5 Slim Laptop A515-54-51DJ, $550 total breaks his budget. Still gonna suggest he get it, but I was wondering about something under $500. Looks new without reviews, but any opinions on the ASUS VivoBook 15 Thin F512FA-AB34? If he says "No way I'm going over $500" I thinking that one or maybe the cheaper Aspire 5 slim A515-43-R19L. Anything else I should send his way?

Thanks in advance!

I would get the acer swift 3 or the ux331un, it is your choice whether to add those 200$ for the 2 in 1.

Also, I don't know if you must have the dGPU(mx150), it is not too strong, so maybe consider the ux430ua too, versus the acer swift 3 above, it is better by having 16gigs of ram(x2) and i7 8550u(instead of i5 8250u), however, it doesn't have a dGPU\>

Budget: $600~

Country: US

Screen size: Don't care

Screen resolution: 1920x1080 min

Touch screen: Dont care

Weight: 5lbs or lower

Main purpose of laptop: Casual assistant to my main workhorse PC, playing emulator games, watching twitch streams, reading visual novels, etc.

If you will be gaming, what are the most demanding games you will play and at what settings? Playstation emulators or darkdest dungeon/binding of isaac, basically not demanding at all.

Is battery life an issue? Nope

Other notes: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015PYYDMQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That's my current laptop. Just looking for something not as close to weight, more powerful/faster. I only use my laptop as a bed sorta deal and my current one weighs a ton and is annoying to move around. I also use my laptop to hook up to HDMI so I can put wwe streams on tv for my grandmother but HDMI ports aren't an issue cause I believe I could just buy an adapter for that? Correct me if Im wrong there.

So yeah, light weight casual laptop for cheap that is stronger than what I currently have.

u/turian_sentinel · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

I'm deciding between this or the Asus Vivobook ($709). What is the better buy?

u/ninjitsururu · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

I was actually debating between that and this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078YMY5VZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I pulled the trigger on the asus one because i found out the e15 is ddr3 and a bit heavier while the asus is ddr4 and lighter weight. If it weren't for these two factors i definitely would have opted for that $50 cheaper option.

u/FlyinFernandez · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

Can someone give me a breakdown of why this deal is better than the regular ASUS VivoBooks?

u/Dopey314 · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

Yeah I agree i'm just confused if this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MDDNCH2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is the right way to go or to go for something with a 1660 ti for about 500 less, i dont even see this listed on most of these deal threads

How does this compare to the CUK N857VR VR Ready Gaming Laptop (Intel i7-8750H 6-Core, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD, NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB, 15.6” FHD IPS 144Hz 5ms, Killer 1535 WiFi, Windows 10 Home) 8th Gen Gamers Notebook?

They seem pretty much identical, except CUK seems more hardware reputable.

If you don’t mind, I’m not too familiar with laptops, I just need something for school and gaming from time to time (WoW, single player steam games). I’m looking at this one and
ASUS FX504 Thin & Light TUF Gaming Laptop, 15.6" Full HD, 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H Processor, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, 8GB DDR4, 256GB M.2 SSD, Gigabit WiFi, Windows 10 - FX504GE-ES72 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DY11M1F/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zdtlDbX4WK25C . Do you think it’s worth the extra $100?

Still gaming with a not so old dell inspiron 7559 (i5 6300 hq, 16 gb ram and gtx 960m); worth the upgrade for a newer rig (dell or whatever) with current gen i5 and gtx 1060?

One last question: how big of a difference is there between a 1050 and a GTX 960m 4GB? I've found a deal on a Dell for $620.

u/Nimbyyy · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

I am looking at the same two laptops, both use integrated graphics right? https://www.amazon.com/UX330UA-AH54-13-3-inch-Ultra-Slim-Processor-Fingerprint/dp/B01M18UZF5 Just wondering if theres any reason not to go with the dell inspiron. I know ones 15.6 and other is 17.3 but upgraded cpu with the cuk.

Less ram and hhd

u/Skana-kun · 3 pointsr/LaptopDeals

Well, there is Acer's Predator Helios 300. I've been searching for a while now and i found it really great, looking at its price (1050$ on Amazon), It's specs are really good too, with a GTX 1060 6g gpu, an i7-7700 cpu, 16g of ram and a 256 ssd. And there is the Dell inspiron 15 with almost the same specs (half the ssd and and extra 1T HDD) but it costs an extra 100$.

Im really confused between those two laptops since my budget is limited and i could use the additional 100$ on the dell's to get a gaming mouse and headphones,.. etc. I've seen a bunch of reviews on both, and they seem to be fine, so - even with the bad previous experience with Acer- I'm still leaning toward their gaming laptop (purely because of the 100$ tho).

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078XL5R1M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_m4.YAbKG63QV1

Acer Predator Helios 300 : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2daZAbR573C41

u/edit1754 · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

I also tend not to recommend the K501UW anyway, since it uses a rather low quality display. Not because it's TN, but because it's a particular low quality type of TN that most of today's TN laptop displays end up being, including the 1080p ones. Contrast is very poor, and viewing angles are narrower than even decent TN displays.

The Inspiron 7559 has the same GPU, a faster CPU (if you need it), a considerably better quality display.

EDIT: To other readers, I would still not recommend the Inspiron 7559 for actual photo editing on the internal display. The Acer Nitro has a better display for that.
