I use Blitz Gem & Jewelry Cleaner. Its a clear high concentrate liquid so you only need 1 cap per 1 liter of water or so. Never tried ultrasonic cleaner with simple green so Im not sure how it compares. Ive had great results with Blitz so far.

Replying for the few who up voted this post with some of my own research. I have found a few different aftermarket stocks and have included them in the bullet-ed list bellow.

  • custom made wood Monte Carlo these are custom made by a gentelman on etsy. you can pick between different woods and stains aswell as different bayonet styles. prices range from $120-$160

  • ATI Monte Carlo This is a polymer monte style with black accents on the cheek rest and recoil pad. sold through Amazon for $95 with shipping.

  • Additionally eBay is a good place to find surplus stocks of varying conditions and some are even refinished if you don't want to do it yourself.

My friend had the same problem so I bought him this pad for his birthday among some other odds and ends. He says it fits perfectly and adds just enough space to make it comfortable to fire.

The pad the other guy's talking about sounds cooler, so I'd grab that if you can find it. This one doesn't have a star on it but it's affordable and it works.

They're available on Amazon, and you can get two-day shipping. A dedicated paint store might be more likely to have test kits than a general hardware store.

They're available on Amazon for ~$10. Might have to clean the kit itself when you first get it.

Also, everyone's free to correct a potential old wives tale, but I recall reading warnings against using the original rods/kits for actual cleaning of the barrel due to being made of steel. Modern cleaning rods are typically composed of softer materials like brass or carbon fiber to prevent damage to the bore/rifling.

I keep mine in a gun sock in my safe. One of these: https://www.amazon.com/Allen-13160-Sock-Knit-52-Inch/dp/B0035LTXUO I've heard that the silicone can do bad things to some finishes, but I don't have any personal experience with that. I'm sure someone else here will correct me on that though.

I bought this

Works decently well, just use some lock tight on the screws and there ya go.

Etsy has new/handcrafted wooden SKS stocks for $110, but they come with rubber buttpads.

cleaning kits is on amazon if you have a metal stock with the hole.

you can buy a cleaning rod / bayonet here

I bought this kit from Amazon and a quick search found this rod which I can't speak for personally but seems to be correct.

I too found that the stock is a bit short, so I added a 1 inch pad to mine. I think it made it just the right length.

Alternatively, you could spend some money and get a nice new American stock that counts as two 922r pieces.
