Sure thing, it wasn't terribly difficult.

As far as tools go you won't need much, just a phillips head and flat head screwdrive, and a hex/allen wrench for the front panel (You might even be able to unscrew those by hand, they aren't too snug).

I'd recommend also getting some pairs or nitrile gloves and a spray mask.

Steps:

  • Disassemble, keep everything organized. I like to take a picture of every "step" and every wire/cable placement as I take it apart. The inside isn't super complex but having that reference is useful.

  • Removing the USB cable isn't really possible for painting the back cable compartment so I just used masking tape and covered the cable.

  • Using an abrasive pad (I used these Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pads, worked great and you can get them at any grocery store) give every plastic piece you intend to paint a good rubdown. This will rough up the glossy plastic just enough to give your paint something to hold onto without scratching it up too much like sandpaper might.

  • Give every piece a wipe down with a clean cloth and some rubbing alcohol to clear off dust from scouring and any oil from your hands.

  • If possible hang all of the pieces before painting so you can spray all around them without handling them too much.

  • Get yourself a decent spray paint, (I used this Rust-Oleum Universal in Satin White)

  • Spray in a nice fluid motion from about 6"-12", apply a single light coat and let dry for 24 hours.

  • Spray one more coat after 24 hours to even it all out and let dry another 24 - 48 hours before handling it.

I've been using the stick for a solid 7 months since painting going to weekly meetups and tournies and just have a few little chips on the edges, I'd say its held up pretty well.

I've had to clean it pretty regularly as well as the white shows a lot of dust/hand grossness and i've not had any issue with a damp soapy cloth wipe down.

Hope that helps, and I'd love to see what it looks like when you're done!

    Good luck

So I'm not sure why, but the Soul Calibur stick is 93 bucks right now. It's a pretty good stick.

As far as I know, it's completely identical to this stick. I've got this one and it's pretty good. Hori's Hayabusa stuff isn't generally the first choice, but it's definitely good enough.

For the record, you can change the artwork if you really want to. It's a bit time consuming, but an easy DIY project. This is mine. The hardest part is really just removing the old artwork as it's bonded to the metal. After that it's pretty basic.

I've only really had experience with a couple of Hori sticks and the latest Madcatz te, as well as some custom ones I modded. You have a lot more options on PC, but as for quality I'm not really sure. I know there are some Qanba PC sticks for around $80, but I can't vouch for the quality, although the ratings are pretty good on [Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BXPIO1S/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_YWr7wbJ230K0F)

The buttons and stick might not be of the greatest quality, but it's a good start and I assume some of the high ratings come from being [easy to mod] (https://youtu.be/FllbddE4zes) but for that you'd need to buy new buttons and new stick.

If I were in your position, I'd opt for getting something of decent quality now with the intent to mod it later when you really get a feel for using a stick and get your execution down. And if I didn't want to mod, I'd wait a bit longer or mow a couple lawns and opt for a nice [Hori] [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SULMRI4/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_y8r7wb9MQ71NQ) or a better quality [Qanba] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007SGGLZW/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_39r7wb7K0TS7Y)
Either way, there's still a learning curve when switching peripherals so keep that in mind

Cool concept, but I would rather not bloat the game or take up dev time with this sort of thing. Udon has done a really good job building out Street Fighter lore and art with their books. And they actually created a book titled "Street Fighter World Warrior Encyclopedia" dedicated to character profiles. Or if you want digital/free there's always the Street Fighter wiki which the community does a great job of keeping current.

u/shitpostDeluxe · 2 pointsr/StreetFighter

there's no such thing as a "beginner" stick. you just need to get one that uses decent parts like sanwa. unfortunately that means you will have to spend more but I recommend Hori

if you're really strapped for cash try this stick and then mod it later with sanwa parts

also playing on pad is perfectly viable, even more so for SFV. so don't feel like you need to get one unless you have aspirations to go to japan one day and play against the arcade heads

I'd probably just get a PS2->PS3/4 converter from Brook and a PS2 controller (not sure if PS1 works). The only thing I have against PS3/4 is that the trigger buttons aren't really ideal for fighting games and PS1/PS2 controllers are cheap and good quality (Luffy won Evo with a PS1 controller I believe). It's the cheapest way to get a high quality pad that'll last. I'm not sure if you have to update the firmware on the converter whenever there is a big PS4 update. For Brook's fightboards, if you don't update the firmware, you get stuck with an 8-minute timeout. Brook has been very good at updating their products' firmware within a day of big PS4 updates so far though.

I myself got frustrated with fightpad options, so I built a converter for a Sega Saturn pad (what the Madcatz pads are based off of, but better build quality). I had to buy an FGWidget Converter board but they don't seem to be available for sale anymore. Then I wired the FGWidget to a Brook PS3/PS4 board. It was a lot of work and soldering, but it's flawless, and I can switch out Sega Saturn pads as needed, though I haven't had to in years.

(BTW, I play on gamepad because I have wrist issues so I can't use fightsticks for very long)

I'm currently working through supplements (on hold right now until Season 2 is official) which will likely be a separate book which will work like an index to the original source material.

Earnestly, I am honored that you want to support the work. However, Season 2 starts tomorrow and I will likely need to make some edits as a "Second Edition". In this case, I will likely retain both editions for sale and drop the price on the first edition if the information changes enough. I'll try and make those changes as quickly as possible once Season 2 drops.

I'm currently gaming on a 17" LG Zenith monitor from like 2005 with horrid input lag and was needing to upgrade my monitor quite soon. I've found these two monitors on the cheap but wasn't quite sure which one would be better and was hoping maybe someone here has experience with either one.

Monitor 1: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008DWITHI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Monitor 2: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IKDFL4O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_11&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I really only play Street Fighter, Hearthstone and RPG games so no FPS's, so no need for a 144hz monitor.

u/rhoparkour · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

I have this capture card, this one captures at 720p 60fps, which is all you can do with the bitrate cap for Twitch partners (3500 kbps).
If you want 1080p 60fps this one will do you good, but it's an external capture card.
I highly recommend an internal capture card, the quality is superior to an external equivalent and more importantly, there's no delay compared to an external capture card (external capture cards take much longer to encode, which causes mic audio to be desynced with capture video/audio and syncing them is a pain).

u/assburgersareokay · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

Hey man, awesome work! Would you be willing to make a Balrog color 1 for this stick?

u/Eothawne · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

I might buy this one then, the reviews look good for it.
I don't know if my HP thing is any good or not though, it doesn't have it listed. Probably because it's not a gaming monitor.

EDIT: found list of changes that might be for season 2 based on PSX demo
as far as balance changes go we only know so much. but capcom said 3 things they are

Recovery After Successful Throws

Strong Anti-Air Light Attacks

Invincible Reversal Reliance

there was a post with most of the changes i cant seem to find it ill edit it in when i can but heres capcoms portal

being changed, there are reports of frames and moves buttons being changed but we will have to see for sure when the balance patch comes out dec 20th. pressure will be a little of the same jsut not specific characters cammy, necalli, ryu, ken cannot rely on meterless dps on wake up,i think the hardest hit by the reports on the new update are ken and mika , both are still playable from reports but more fair in a sence you should have no problem making the character you want work.

as for pressuring characters without dp's yes a little the looming fear of a mashed dp mid combo or on wake up. i would say i dont respect certain characters during oki and wake up senarios because of no dp but it jsut narrows down the equation in my thinking. but still one wrong guess or miss timed meaty and you will still eat a flash kick, spinning mixer or ex SBK.

as a fellow stick player im going to state right off the bat you dont need a stick to play/be good. any little irritations on stick maybe not being used to moving a little bit of your forarm around or a slight ichyness from your wrist rubbing on the plexy of a stick, that can easly be solved by wearing a wristband or elevating your wrist. im not sure about hittbox besides the fact you will have to order one witch can be expensive or build your own. as for pad are you using the ps4 pad? if thats causing trouble for you with blisters try a pad with a disc rather then directions like the mad catz fightpad pro and before anyone says anything they fixed the input issue. other wise if you can pick up the sfiv theme fightpads those are very good as they jsut like the fightpad pro have a smooth plastic disc instead of a textured surface like the playstation pad and instead of pressing down you can roll your thumb for comands

when i get taunted do i get mad? i personally dont it depends on the person. generally people see it as disrespectful and rude, but under the right context it can be fun just take the round when you can i cringe when i see someone get bodied after they taunted for the win.

It will still be an issue more or less. Firstly lets clear some things up...

Input lag = the delay between hitting the button and the game engine registering your input. This is primarily determined by framerate. In any game locked to 60fps (i.e. most arcade fighters including SFV) you will always experience a max potential input lag of 16.67 milliseconds. You can't do anything about this, the only solution is a higher framerate but that is not possible with fighters.

Display lag = the delay between your hardware sending new frames to your display, and your display actually SHOWING those frames (lighting up pixels, etc).

The above can be further compounded by vertical synchronization (v-sync) which makes your hardware hold frames in a "buffer" until the display is ready to show them. By default this is always enabled on PS4 to minimize tearing, at the cost of even more display lag. On PC v-sync should be turned off immediately in settings.

In brief - regardless of whether you're playing on PS4 or PC, if you're serious about playing any game and minimizing display lag then buy a typical 1ms GTG gaming monitor like BenQ GL2460HM or Asus VN247H-P.

If you want to stick to a TV, then make sure you're using the "game mode" (even though it still doesn't come close to a monitor).

hello. I will be getting SF V for PC and based on what you're saying, I should not buy this stick, because it's for PS3:

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0166QDR5G/ref=s9_wsim_gw_p63_d3_i1?ie=UTF8&colid=3GSWPD2TMK5D2&coliid=I1WPN44RUIKLR9&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=01NRGWKZ84MW9FAPH824&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2055621862&pf_rd_i=desktop

However there is one comment who seems to suggest that this stick works PC "without the need of motionjoy, better ds3, or any other driver software." However from reading the comments, I'm afraid now. Any thoughts? And what stick that's similar to this one which works reliably for SF V on PC?

u/Nybear21 · 2 pointsr/StreetFighter

If he'd be into this sort of thing, Dynamic Custom Beadworks does a lot of SF stuff.

I got this SF encyclopedia/ artbook for Christmas and I'm quite fond of it.

Looks like this is the version you're referring to. Based on description it seems uncut. Can you confirm?

u/UngaChaka · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

This is the original link: https://www.amazon.ca/BenQ-Console-eSports-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B01H5KKRLY

Can anyone confirm that they use the RL2460 at Evo and Canada cup?

u/JEDISPIDER · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

Most likely it is the SF2 Animated movie: Street Fighter II The Animated Movie Blu Ray [Blu-ray] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L7JFJ9Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aTKXCbP0Y2E6B

u/sandwichcookie · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

this is the one I got but anything that is UHCI 1.1 compliant is what you're looking for.

u/somesthetic · 5 pointsr/StreetFighter

Is this fanart?

It's literally the cover of Udon's Art of Capcom book from 2007.

u/Fadeout4 · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

They're not. The image is reversed. Notice how in the keyboard, the arrow keys are on the left side? Notice how Gief's face is reversed on the cover of the book compared to the real thing?

u/bohplayer · 7 pointsr/StreetFighter

Well uh, I upvoted because otherwise you won't stay on the first page. Have you tried using the "motioninjoy" driver? (google it)

Worst case scenario if the board is malfunctioning you'll have to spend 10 bucks to buy something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Reyann-Arcade-Encoder-Joystick-Fighting/dp/B00UUROWWK

u/wingmasterjr · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

I have actually done this and i will say it is not worth the effort. I modded a mayflash
with sanwa OBSF-30-w buttons and a sanwa JLF stick.

The major mistake I made was going with a shitty chinese board so multiple button presses would not register all the time. Plus I was having problems with input lag as well on that board.

Overall i spent about $100 on everything (including a soldering iron) and its not very useful until I replace the board so it will probably go up to 140-150 overall and at that price I could have just bought a nice hori :/

EDIT: But I have a pretty badass sticker job on it http://i.imgur.com/b3b1KiS.jpg
