If you want a book that has a really good all around historical look at wonder woman I highly recommend picking up Wonder Woman: A Celebration of 75 years

I also personally love the Brian Azzarello's Wonder Woman Run in the new 52. It's also probably one of the most self contained titles in the new 52. The first volume is Wonder Woman Vol 1. Blood

There are two really great origin stories of wonder woman that I really love that are very current. The first (and my favorite of the two) is The legend of Wonder Woman. And the second is Wonder Woman: The True Amazon. The art in this one is fantastic.

Another great wonder woman story is Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia

I also really loved Sensation Comics featuring wonder Woman. I really love all of the different writers and artists takes on wonder woman.

Well, there are a few options. I will do a quick run through, but I do suggest reading a book, or at least reading some more in depth online tutorials.

So. I suggest going to Walgreens (or Rite Aid or whatever your local pharmacy is) and buying a basal body thermometer. They are mostly in the 20 dollar range. Then, you take your temperature first thing upon waking and record it every day. You can take it under your tongue or vaginally.

There are a few rules to keep in mind:

  1. you need at least three consecutive hours of sleep - if you are active within the three hour period before waking then it will throw off your temp. You can and should still take it, but just make it so that you know it may be wonky.

  2. If you drink the night before or if you are sick, same rules apply as above.

Ok, so. You take your temperature every day and mark it on the chart. If you want to use other signs to see when your fertile period begins you can pay attention to your cervical mucus, but I'm going to ignore that part for now. The part that sucks is that on the weekends you have to set an alarm to wake you up so you can take your temperature at the same time, but then I just roll over and go back to sleep.

Fertility Friend also has free tutorials that will teach you all this and more if you want more info (because I have never tried to explain this before, I could suck).

If you are just charting your cycle and not trying to use it to avoid pregnancy I recommend using fertilityfriend because they have iphone and android apps so you can get it into our chart immediately next to your bed and not mess with pen and paper early in the morning.

The first day of your cycle is the first day of your period that is heavy enough to use a pad, tampon, diva cup etc. Red blood, not spotting. At the beginning of your cycle your temperatures will be lower. Sometime around the middle of your cycle your temperature will jump up. That is called a thermal shift. Once your temperature stays elevated above your cover line (the fertility friend website will draw one for you) for three consecutive days you can confirm that you ovulated.

The second part of your cycle will normally be the same or very close to the same every month. Most women have 12 - 16 days in that phase. Mine is 11 days, 10 days is the shortest you can have and still sustain a pregnancy. If the second half of your cycle is less than 10 days and you want to get pregnant sometime you may want to have your doctor check out your hormone levels.

Ok. So. The standard book that everyone recommends is called Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It goes way more in depth on how to do this and also use it for birth control if you want. They also have a website and online charting software.

I do use it for birth control and I also use and wanted to make it a little easier on myself, so I bought a Lady-Comp on ebay. It was expensive, but less expensive than a baby and I appreciate a lot of the features. Wow this may have been more than what you wanted, I hope I didn't just overwhelm you with way too much information.... but that's what I have to offer. There is way more and better info out there though.

Good for you!

Manipulative people will frequently escalate before going quiet- something that's called an 'extinction burst'. They will ramp up their behavior in the hopes of provoking a response and getting you to reach out. Generally if you are able to ignore the extinction burst, the person gives up. They may bother you again from time to time but much less often and less intensely. Just don't ever respond. That buys you another 6 weeks (or so) of attempted contact.

You may benefit from grabbing a copy of The Gift Of Fear (currently free on kindle unlimited) and giving it a read. It talks a lot about this type of person and how to disengage from them.

Oh please no...

A good book on the matter (if you go through smile it gives to a charity): https://smile.amazon.com/Inferior-Science-Wrong-Research-Rewriting/dp/0807071706/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502665895&sr=8-1&keywords=inferior+how+science+got+women+wrong

Also a great summary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu1b54RtSE8

What's amazing is dudes not even understanding to use, I don't know, tact? To have, I don't know some sensitivity, when literally discussing whether science backs up women being less able to do all the stuff we judge the most admirable in our society and therefore implying that women are inferior to men?

Also I've been doing jiu-jitsu for twelve years and studied astrophysics (and in fact many of the most important discoveries in my field were done by women). Fuck off.

u/Jimmysammy · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Yeah. I have this issue. I do some kegels and squats/lunges and then it wiggles into place so I don't feel the little tip hurting. I think it's because vaginas vary in depth as well, so we might just not be able to put ours in deep enough. Once it settles, it's not noticeable anymore and seems to shimmy up slightly. But feeling the tip makes me cringe. It would be cool if they could come up with a reusable applicator for the diva cup, like soft rubber tongs or something. If it's a huge problem, I've had awesome luck with SoftCups. I keep both the DivaCup and SoftCup on hand since I can have sex with the SoftCup in. It's not bell shaped like the DivaCup, so no pokey end. You can keep it in for up to 12 hours. It's not reusable, though.

u/gypsyblue · 6 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

I don't notice a thing! If it's properly placed, you shouldn't feel it at all. I go jogging/hiking with it inside and wouldn't even know it was there if I hadn't put it in myself!

It might be a little weird to insert and remove at first (it was for me) and it takes some practice to do it seamlessly, but IMO it's definitely worth it. It's SO convenient and you only need to take it out to empty it every 12 hours (or more maybe if you have a very heavy flow) - for me that's once when I wake up and once a few hours before I go to bed.

I feel you on the cost. I was nervous about that too - you can do what I did and try out some disposable Softcups first. There's a locator on the website that'll tell you if a drugstore near you sells them, but they're also on Amazon. I paid $5 for a six pack at my local drugstore. Same deal, change them every 12 hours, but you can't wash and reuse these ones. I actually found them much easier to insert/remove than the Diva Cup, so if you're on the fence, I highly recommend you give these a try first! :)

u/SlovenlySarah · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

They're like 3 bucks on amazon!! I have 2 of them. BEST feeling ever, and actually helps with my migraines!
What an investment! I'll take eight!!

u/UnconfirmedCat · 21 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

I struggled with the exact same problem, butt getting cuter but somehow zit prone from working out and biking until after a little reading I discovered alpha hydroxy acid is Amazing omigosh!! I use the stuff in the red box that can be found at any drugstore (usually on the bottom shelves with the facial beauty stuff) and it friggin changed my life! Finally a firm and soft butt :D

Edit to include product

This makes opening any jar super easy

(I have a disability that affects hand strength, and this little doohickey allows me access to pickles every time!)

u/Confection_Sponge · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

NICE! I got two 'nicer' coloring books for Christmas too (one from my Troll Secret Santa and one from my brother's new girlfriend) but haven't had a chance to break them in yet. I usually just buy some of the kids kind (like Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, or something along those lines) but I wanted to try something nicer, and asked for these. They're super nice and detailed.
It really helps me with my depression. I posted a comment about in in another sub, and that's exactly what it is for me too, a distraction. You're so focused on staying in the lines, or picking the right color, that it's hard to think about anything else. There are many crafts that I found that do that for me (cross stitch, scrapbooking, crocheting) but I only really have time for coloring nowadays.
Yours is so awesome!

u/GherkinJerkin · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

I've heard that harsh exfoliants create cuts and I've heard that the whole "cut" thing is a myth. I use St Ives Olive Oil Scrub for exfoliation. It's incredibly gentle and not at all abrasive.
If you can get Trention/Rentin-A from a doctor the stuff is miracle cream. If you can't then you could try looking up retinoids and BHA/AHAs.
Paula's Choice comes highly recommended for BHA's
Alpha Hydrox is a brand I really liked for BHAs!
A lot of acne treatments also double as wrinkle treatments, so I guess that's the only upside?

u/Supercoolguy7 · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Oh yeah no problem here's a a link to the amazon. Yeah it's pretty awful especially considering how interesting history is to most adults, once they have had some time away from highschool. It could be one of the subjects students get excited about just for the subject matter, instead it's entirely up to the teacher to go out of their way to make it interesting.

u/novembrr · 10 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Read Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office. I'm reading it and it has some great advice about situations like this!

u/grace_c · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

Although this is a satire, it's actually so true.

For any woman wanting to climb the ladder in their professional field, I highly recommend Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office by Dr Lois P Frankel

It highlights "Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers" and it's a really enlightening read

It helps you to be really self-aware of how you conduct yourself in the workplace, what some of the secrets are to succeeding professionally (hint: it's not bringing brownies to the office), and so so much more, I could go on forever.

Seriously. Changed my life.

u/HakeemAbdullah · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

The new Wonder Woman Rebirth comic has been great.

Also I reccomend Azarello's run on Wonder Woman (these ones: https://www.amazon.com/Wonder-Woman-Vol-Blood-New/dp/140123562X)

u/[deleted] · 7 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

This stuff is amazing. Bonus: you can also use it as makeup primer!

u/FlanneryOClowder · 21 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

So, this is probably as good a time as any to admit that I own this book.

u/tautology2wice · 3 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Here's the amazon link if people want to get in on this amazingness. They're about 2.5 inches and comfortable enough to sleep in.

You want to get a dimmer switch with the right circuitry to gently reduce the current draw rather than just cut the voltage -- or possibly it's the other way around? It's been over a decade since I took circuits, and I got a C. So I can't think of a great analogy but it's sort of like the difference between using the volume knob on an old record player, or putting a thumb on the turntable to slooow dooown the muuusic. You'll get "less music" both ways, but one of them is really bad for the hardware. And trust me, you're going to want "less music" at first.

Unfortunately the 'right circuitry' can be much more expensive. A normal dimmer switch is $5.00. This one is more like $20 but won't damage the motor.

(Q: "Wait, why do I need a dimmer?"
A: "Here, try it without."

Oh my god, I just looked up tampax on amazon. I am never shopping in a brick-and-mortar store for supplies ever again.

Grrrrr

u/supergeekd · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Buy her The Paper Bag Princess! It's a cute twist on a fairy tale where the princess rescues her prince from a dragon on her own. When he insults her appearance afterward, she decides not to marry him.

Something else that worked for me was sealing up my window with these. You stick the film on with tape and then shrink it with a hair dryer. Even if you aren't able to put the film up over that particular hole, putting it over the windows will help quite a bit.

u/ndsulee · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

The real deal, have your SO use this on your noggin, I've never made my wife make faces like she does when i use this on her (eyes roll back):

u/LifeIsTheFuture · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

These things work really well and are available at most hardware stores. All you need is a hair dryer.

u/mildly_delirious · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

yeah for sure, those look real similar
i got http://www.amazon.com/Nippies-Skin-Reusable-Silicone-ADHESIVE/dp/B001PU9A9Q/ref=pd_bxgy_bt_text_z dose.

sorry about the stares, that's icky but I feel you

u/CallieEnte · 31 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Not quite the same, but I get The Paper Bag Princess for all my friends’ daughters. A princess rescues her prince from a dragon, but the prince turns out to be an ungrateful jerk so she leaves him and lives happily ever after.

u/VapidDelight · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

Get weather strip tape and tape all the gaps on your windows. Then cover the entire windows with window film. This will cut down on drafts and make your apartment warmer.

u/nHalbleiter · 19 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Not OP, but I found inferior very illuminating

u/oatmeal_pie · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

Have you heard of Taking Charge of Your Fertility? You track your fertility signs, so for example when Aunt Flow hasn't arrived on day 35 you know that you aren't pregnant because you haven't ovulated.

u/WinterCharm · 60 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

You know those velcro cable ties? my sister uses those on "many straps" to bundle them up into one strap, then unvelcros them when she's done putting on a dress/top/etc.

https://www.amazon.com/VELCRO-Brand-Black-2-Inch-91140/dp/B001E1Y5O6

There' only a couple of bucks.

u/rafaelloaa · 1 pointr/TrollXChromosomes

You need a JarKey. It lets you pop the lid on jars enough to let air in.

Whew, okay. Pulled out my actual computer to answer this.
So, a lot of what I could recommend isn't short stuff you could read in an afternoon because 1. it's depressing as fuck, and 2. it's likely heavy with the sheer volume of references wherein at least one book attempts to bludgeon you with the facts that "this was depressing as fuck." Frequent breaks or alternating history-related books with fiction/poetry/other topics is rather recommended from my experience. Can't remember if I got onto this topic through Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States or Loewen's Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong or just some random book found in the library.

The very clean cut, textbook Wikipedia definition of "sundown town", aka "Don't let the sun set (down) on you here.", (Ref: BlackThen.com), is:
> sometimes known as sunset towns or gray towns, are all-white municipalities or neighborhoods in the United States that practice a form of segregation by enforcing restrictions excluding people of other races via some combination of discriminatory local laws, intimidation, and violence.

For my intro into the subject however, read Buried in the Bitter Waters: The Hidden History of Racial Cleansing in America. This is a very emotionally draining, mentally exhausting book though, frequently with lists of atrocities in paragraph form. I think it's an important read, one which frankly should've been covered my senior year of highschool or so, but it's a difficult one. Also on my reading list is The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration which is a surprising and sneakily hopeful title for such a depressing topic, so only guessing the narration may be somewhat more accessible.

Also, 'cause I totally didn't run to my kindle app to list out titles before fully reading your post, here's some below, and relisted one above, by timeline placement, best as can be figured. These might not be the best on each topic, but they're the ones available to my budget at the time and some are still on my reading list.

The Fires of Jubilee: Nat Turner's Fierce Rebellion
