My One

  • Min Icon Pack

  • Nova Launcher w/ flip scroll effect, 6 x 9 home screen grid, and no app dock

  • HTC One M8 Case, Spigen® [AIR CUSHION] HTC One M8 Case Protective [... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J9B4FR0/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_1AfPub1Z9SS6D] Doing this from my phone so I can't get a picture of it

  • Last but not least, my favorite Christmas gift from this year... My pebble with a black leather strap, a brushed titanium skin being shipped right now, and a watch face called "Modern"

So yeah that's my One M8. My favorite thing about the home screen pictures is that you can tell exactly what my hobbies and likes are, and of course my favorite hockey team. Any questions are welcome.

> HTC Sync Manager should work. If it isn't finding all your music, make sure you go into the settings and add the locations for your music. If you are using iTunes, it should automatically add all the music and playlists from it (make sure this option is enabled in settings)

Yeah I was really hoping that it would... I just only sees about 5 out of 20 playlists :(

>Diztronic TPU Matte case

Hmm that one is interesting... I'll have to look into it more, at the moment i am considering I think i'll get either (or both) This or [this](
http://www.amazon.com/iGadgitz-Durable-Crystal-Smartphone-Protector/dp/B00CA1Y4V8/ref=sr_1_23?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1370664742)

> Not for me. The phone is 32GB or 64 GB, which is plenty, unless you have a ton of music and you want it all on your phone at once, and you download all the biggest apps. You really need an SD card with the S4 because the standard version is 16 GB and there is so much bloat you are only left with like 9 GB of free space.
It's not necessary for rooting (with the boot from SD [or similar]) ?

> 4.2.2 is supposed to have support for lock screen widgets, and that will be released later this summer probably

Wonderful!

Thanks so much for your reply... helping out a lot :)

Dude, I got a Bear Motion case and loving it. I'm not the one who drops his phone all the time and I didn't want to give up my phone's slim design. This case covers pretty much everything I wanted from a case. It's advantage over the Poetic is that its front face got a small 'lip', so the screen won't directly contact the table. Plus it's got a sandy texture (more like a clothes type of texture) and the grip is much better than the phone being naked. And, it's 2 bucks cheaper too lol

Good luck.

u/Epic_E · 1 pointr/htcone

I bought 4 slim cases on Amazon.

The best one is the Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case. Matte finish looks great. Volume buttons are covered making them easier to press. Super snug fit.

u/Hurricane043 · 6 pointsr/htcone

This is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Diztronic-Matte-Back-Black-Flexible/dp/B00BMCYYL6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Love it. Excellent case, great quality for $10, and it looks amazing.

u/inebriates · 3 pointsr/htcone

My problem with the Bear Motion case is that the little thin strips of plastic that connect the case above the volume rocker and SD card broke really easily. I bought two, one for my phone and the other for my wife's, and each had the same problem. Once the piece(s) broke I tried filing them down, which made it a little better, but eventually it would get hung up on pockets and became a nuisance. Great case otherwise, though.

As a replacement for the Bear Motion, I grabbed the Nillkin and have liked it as well. I prefer the texture of the Bear Motion, but once I got used to the Nillkin I liked it as well.

u/LiveLikeLuis · 2 pointsr/htcone

My Verizon One hasn't been delivered yet, but...

If you want an excellent phone case, look no further than the Diztronic Matte TPU Case.

This case is thin, easy to grip, easy to slide through your pocket, fits like a glove (from previous experience), durable, and uh yeah seriously extremely thin. Also, it's thin. It's not bulky at all, feels great, has an enclosure of protective bumpers on its perimeter, and costs only 10 dollars on Amazon.

u/sk8edh · 6 pointsr/htcone

So I broke down and bought this last night: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BMCYYL6/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1370404083&sr=8-2&pi=SL75

I hate cases but I'm tired of treating my phones like newborn babies. Yes, it's a beautiful phone, but I go camping and boating and shit and I'd rather not have to think so hard about what soft object is nearby that I can set my phone on. This one seemed like a nice compromise between bulk and form. I like the barely there cases a lot more, but the top and bottom edges are fully exposed so what's the point? This one got good reviews and was ten bucks. Now I can move on with my life...

u/leadCactus · 4 pointsr/htcone

I absolutely love my Diztronic TPU case for the M7. Cheap, durable, thin, and great protection. It looks great, and doesn't impede IR blasting functionality. I believe they also make a case for the M8.

u/MigratedCoconut · 2 pointsr/htcone

I would recommend the Poetic cases. Really nice looking and pretty cheap. The double dip case is also pretty nice but personally I didn't like the red top and grey bottom. Another favorite of mine is the Nillkin cases.

I've had a very negative experience with the Spigen SGP Ultra Crystal screen protector. I got it off [Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Protector-Steinheil-Crystal/dp/B00BUF7EI0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369859968&sr=8-1&keywords=spigen+sgp+htc+one) when I got my One around a month ago. Installation was pretty easy however, it started getting scratches easily. My phone is usually just in my pocket as well. They also tend to attract fingerprints and oil much more than the glass. So, I ended up returning the protectors. I also ordered the Atmosphere case but that was the first version which had the IR-blaster covered and rendered it useless, however, they are sending me the updated version which I see is getting some pretty positive reviews. Hope this helped :)

u/bquach87 · 2 pointsr/htcone

I'm rocking skinomi full body protector and its ultra clear shield screen protector. it's pretty good so far, they are also giving me another one to review on amazon for theirs awareness program.

Devilcase makes a good metal bumper for the M8/9. I've been using the gray version for the M8 for nearly two years now since it was released. The case feels like its part of the phone itself and makes it way easier to grip. I have not dropped it once since I had it.

Looks like there's only 3 colors left on the amazon webpage I linked, but you can grab the other colors off their website as well.

u/Rickson · 1 pointr/htcone

From a similar post a few weeks ago:

I use the iBlason Power Glider and I have been happy with it's performance. The texture of the case is nice, too. It doesn't slide off my pants, when I had it balancing on my knee while sitting, like the aluminium case did and it isn't tough to pull out of a pocket like the silicone cases are.

http://www.i-blason.com/powerglider-external-battery-case-for-htc-one-m7.html?color=24

The battery charges back up to about 80% when it is at 14%, while using it occasionally.

The only downside is: I can't use my preferred charging dock anymore ( http://www.amazon.com/Tmvel-TMV-H1-Charging-Unlocked-T-Mobile/dp/B00COVM2UO ), because the charging/data port moved slightly and it's a bit too thick, instead I have to use one of these on my desk and in the car: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007DP0OQ0/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , I think there's cheaper options now, but I like mine.

And the iBlason has a kickstand.

u/Prizms · 2 pointsr/htcone

http://www.amazon.com/Shield-Skin-type-Case-Black-Nillkin/dp/B00BXIMJ6Q

I highly recommend this one. The packaging and the case is very well made (feels and looks expensive). Comes with a free screen cover aswell :D

u/d_frost · 1 pointr/htcone

i bought the Pallete and the Atmosphere and i like the atmosphere a lot better, i feel like it gives it more protection around the corners where the pallete felt like it wasnt protecting to well there. I've dropped my phone 3 times since putting it on and no problems at all, i would highly recommend the atmosphere

u/sunthas · 1 pointr/htcone

> Edit: If you want cheaper, and don't mind the vertical orientation, there's this option as well: http://www.amazon.com/Tmvel-Charging-Cradle-Unlocked-T-Mobile/dp/B00COVM2UO/ref=pd_sim_cps_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=01W1J0D17F5GF33K0CWZ

I got this one, last august, works great.

u/butt_sex_man · 1 pointr/htcone

http://www.amazon.com/Spigen%C2%AE-CUSHION-Protective-Gunmetal-Cushioned/dp/B00J9B4FR0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1405959417&sr=8-1&keywords=m8+spigen

Best case I've used on a phone IMO. Enough buffer without being hugely oversized (otterbox defender), smooth but with some grip comfy and good looking. Only downside is it blocks the IR blaster on the power button. I would say its similar to otterbox commuter but having used the commuter on multiple phones, the Spigen feels and looks better.

u/Avuja · 2 pointsr/htcone

Original non-rounded edges.

Same but with rounded edges.

Non-glass, same company.

I heard the original's issue was it was uncomfortable to slide your fingers across an edge due to the sharpness.

The rounded one fixed this however from what I could see on review/application videos they weren't flush with the phone and that was a bit off-putting for me. Also everyone said unless you got some system update the home and back buttons were slightly hit/miss to respond.

I personally opted for the third options, it looks like it's a hard plastic cover like a credit card but thinner as opposed to a flimsy mega thin piece of plastic.

I haven't tried it yet because haven't gotten my One yet.. any day now.....

Have you considered the dot view case?

As someone who hates cases, I really like how it still makes the phone feel slim. I don't know if it's easily paintable, but it's pretty cheap for what it does.

u/Luiperd · 3 pointsr/htcone

I'm currently using the Poetic Palette SLIM on my HTC One. It's slim, pretty and protects it (a bit).

http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Palette-Premium-Manufacturer-Warranty/dp/B00CIBSH4K/

u/nodrogttam · 1 pointr/htcone

I just picked this one up. I had the same style on my previous iPhones and I liked it. Very slim/minimal. Almost like it isn't even there.

u/b1ackcat · 2 pointsr/htcone

The HTC One car dock works great as a desk dock. You could just disable the "automatically activate car mode" option. It has a cable that plugs into USB which charges the phone, and slides right in without a lot of fuss and hassle to get it mounted.

http://www.amazon.com/D160-Flagship-Retail-Package-99H11114-00/dp/B005LVMS3A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393943621&sr=8-1&keywords=htc+one+d160

A bit expensive, but I use it every day in my car and love it to death. Whenever I get a new phone, I always try to get a mount designed specifically for it (usually from the same manufacturer). You pay a premium, but being able to just slide the phone right in without dealing with clips or presses or anything pays for itself in convenience on day one.

Edit: If you want cheaper, and don't mind the vertical orientation, there's this option as well:
http://www.amazon.com/Tmvel-Charging-Cradle-Unlocked-T-Mobile/dp/B00COVM2UO/ref=pd_sim_cps_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=01W1J0D17F5GF33K0CWZ

Beer Motion. Best case I have tried. Very minimal...amazing grip..cheap ($8). http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JB1H9QM?pc_redir=1411902330&robot_redir=1

u/glide_si · 2 pointsr/htcone

I use this. Fits perfectly.

u/war_nerve_ftw · 1 pointr/htcone

JVC Xtreme Xplosive line is great for bassheads, so long as you don't want to lay on your side while they're in as they stick out further than regular in-canal headphones.

JVC HAFR201R Xtreme-Xplosiv Headphones (with mic)

I have these (no mic) and they're outstanding.

u/Trinition · 1 pointr/htcone

I'm using a clear skin - edges and all. I like that it preserves the svelte look if the phone. It also happens to improve friction so I am less likely to drop it.

It was a pain to install. I thought I did a bad job, but - like the instructions said - it improves after a day or two.

My biggest problem is that I never put on the pieces that protect around the speaker grills. When I finally did drop it, guess which part was the only part to get scratched.

Skinomi from Amazon

u/st0rmbrkr · 5 pointsr/htcone

I went with the Poetic Flipbook Case. I enjoy the protection it offers for the screen when I put it in my pocket without needing a screen protector. Only two annoyances are that it does not have the auto-wake feature and it also cannot function as a stand. I wanted to go with the Double Dip Flip, but the reviews turned me away, so I settled with this one. I really like the cases that the other two people posted.

u/definitelynotaspy · 3 pointsr/htcone

I just got this. It's got a good warranty, it's transparent so you can still see your phone through the case (which was a big sell for me), and it was highly recommended in a thread on /r/Android. And it's $13.

I haven't actually received mine yet, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

u/duhsomebodee · 1 pointr/htcone

I got [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Palette-Premium-Manufacturer-Warranty/dp/B00CIBSH4K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375058502&sr=8-1&keywords=poetic+palette+htc+one) back in May and it's been perfect since.
Daily use in and out of pocket, though never dropped.
The soft-touch feels very high quality and hasn't peeled for me, contrary to reviews.

It has a similar little piece of plastic over the volume rocker so I felt it was relevant.

Bleep bloop.

u/blu3ness · 4 pointsr/htcone

I got one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Mountek-nGroove-Universal-Phones-Devices/dp/B004G1L52Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372127918&sr=8-1&keywords=mount+tek

So I have the HTC one sitting in front of a fan vent, blowing AC during the summer helps keep the phone cool :) Just putting it out there..

I have a 1A charger and the battery charges while on GPS/Streaming bluetooth audio, you have to keep it on battery saver mode if you want the screen on at all times. I usually just disable the screen and rely on the audio navigation, I find google maps voice navigation sufficient for myself but that might be different for others.

u/absolut696 · 1 pointr/htcone

I'm with you man, I replied elsewhere in the thread but this is what you want, I promise I don't sell for this company, you can check my comment history:

u/Donkeywad · 2 pointsr/htcone

I got this one from Amazon on sale for $8.69. It worked great, but I only used it for like a day. It was kinda annoying to hold when opened.

u/Billy_B0b_Joe · 4 pointsr/htcone

There are alternatives to the HTC Rapid Charger such as this:
>Amazon Tenergy 18W Turbo USB Universal AC Wall Adaptive Fast Charger with Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 2.0 technology

This one has the best reviews on Amazon and a decent price but there are cheaper ones but those could potentially not be as well functioning.

u/Lil_Young · 1 pointr/htcone

i use the JVC HAFX1X ---- $30

As the M8 has a great sound driver, it automatically increases the quality of the earbuds
It also has some great review, but have in mind that after 2 weeks of usage, it can get a bit uncomfortable.

http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HAFX1X-Headphone-Xtreme-Xplosivs/dp/B004S7Q8CA

u/gcalpo · 1 pointr/htcone

I bought this Cimo case and it fits really well.
For the screen protection, I use Tech Armor anti-glare.

u/manormortal · 1 pointr/htcone

You could check out squaretrade to see if what they offer is worth it to you. Also this glass protector kit that includes a camera lens protector.

u/ilessthanthreemath · 2 pointsr/htcone

All Quick Charge 2.0 chargers should be the same. I had the official HTC Rapid Charger 2.0 and returned it because the Tenergy charger was half the price and charged just as quickly.

Also, the Tenergy has a LED that tells you when QC 2.0 is enabled, which is kinda useful.

u/ilikeballoons · 2 pointsr/htcone
  1. No problems with that, and also many custom roms have other options for screen on, such as using the volume rockers to turn on, or swiping across the capacitive buttons.

  2. Before I used a case it would 100% side on to the back. I use a case now and it does not do this. Before you ask, my case looks fucking great. http://www.amazon.ca/Poetic-Atmosphere-Clear-Manufacturer-Warranty/dp/B00BQ2Y3TA
u/blueappal · 1 pointr/htcone

I have the Poetic Flip Case that has mentioned by everyone else. My only complaint is that the cool Poetic logo starts to wear. Mine now just says "Poe".

u/AFormidableContender · 2 pointsr/htcone

How do you guys feel about SPIGEN?

I was really set on the DotView, but decided it really didn't look that protective and kinda flimsy. Ordered a SPIGEN not knowing much about them, but the reviews are good....

http://www.amazon.ca/CUSHION-Spigen-Protective-Gunmetal-Cushioned/dp/B00J9B4FR0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1397969660&sr=8-2&keywords=spigen+m8

u/Aetern1ty · 2 pointsr/htcone

I have this one and it works as advertised.

u/adamfalkofske · 1 pointr/htcone

Diztronic makes a great one I've used for about a year now. It's slim enough to still slip in a pocket, but has the rubber for the bounce

u/insmek · 2 pointsr/htcone

The aluminum build doesn't stick to you hands the same way most plastic phones do. I always feel like I'm going to drop the phone when I have it out of the case.

With this Spigen case on it, it has just the right amount of "stickiness" and I never feel like it's going to take a tumble.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/htcone

Poetic FlipBook I'm not brave enough to go naked.

u/LurkerOnTheInternet · 1 pointr/htcone

I've ordered the Poetic FlipBook which is the only flip case currently available as far as I'm aware, aside from the worthless HTC one. It'll arrive tomorrow so I may update when it does but it should provide decent protection, especially protecting against screen scratches while in my pocket or bag.

u/raze583 · 2 pointsr/htcone

Poetic flipbook is the case I decided to purchase. It lays perfectly flat against the phone almost as if there is a magnet. There's no "break in period" or anything as the HTC branded flip case. I've dropped it twice and it took no damage.
