I snagged one of the pre order amazon 3ds for $99 and amazon emailed me this:

I only ordered one. That was kinda weird. I thought they cancelled my order for a moment.
Pre-ordered on Amazon for free shipping and $5 pantry credit!
Edit: Canceled and ordered a couple of $15 wireless controllers. I can always re-order the cords later, but I think the wireless will be better for us. When I first got the Wavebird controller for the Gamecube, it was a breath of fresh air. I wanted wireless controllers for my PS1, but I was young then with limited financial resources. My parents made sure I had what I needed, but didn't splurge on too many extras that I didn't need. So, I never purchased the wireless controllers for it. I am happy that wireless controllers are now a regular thing!
Wow! Both the original post and the comments are really thorough. I have to confess a lot of this is over my head.
I have a question: is it safe to use a 3rd-party converter with an official Nintendo AC adapter?
For example:
I'm hoping the converter simply acts as a pass-through, and that the power adapter works as it should.
EDIT: I hope links to Amazon are allowed. Apologies if they aren't. I wanted to make sure I identified the products I own.
I used these. Takes away a little authenticity, but they feel fantastic and will probably age better. They're also very easy to swap in.
Far too small for my hands, but I ordered a pair of these and they should be arriving soon, this week or next. Read and watched some good reviews before ordering, so I'm hopeful they'll make the JoyCons comfortable enough, if not for me, at least for my friends because I'll be using my Pro Controller :D
Raspberry Pi is super simple to set up, plus you can get a nifty case to make it look like an NES or a SNES, and there are even USB Adapters that let you use your original controllers (or pick some up on ebay). 10/10 would absolutely recommend as long as Nintendo refuses to make enough stock to meet demand.
I am in the market for a portable charger for my devices. I want to get one that will safely charge my Switch. I've found a few so far through some research. Which should I get? Help is greatly appreciated!

I'm honestly pretty content with the Wii U Fight Pad (not a referral link). The differences in feel are pretty minor and it's a nice responsive controller that doesn't require any new hardware.
I'm pretty sure that every generation of Pokemon games has gotten a LE handheld, so it wouldn't hurt to wait. If it's not announced by mid-October, then we likely aren't. Another idea you could do is get the black system and this Pokemon case. It will protect your device and look really cool.
If it's just for Mario Kart you could probably get by on the Joy Cons and these... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MT9RSST/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
We play Mario Kart just fine on them. But it was BotW is much better with the pro controller IMO.
Nintendo needs something like this as a reward.
Thank you guys! Y'all answered my question within seconds!! One more question, I'm looking at these two cards and I want to see which you'd recommend and if there are any differences between the two.

I did see Anker as a more reputable brand. Any specific model you would suggest?
I noticed pretty good reviews for the Anker PowerCore 20100.
No battery pack here, but I just bought these, and they're great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MT9RSST

[Nyko] (https://www.amazon.com/Nyko-Portable-Docking-Kit-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B071X7C1B4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506493417&sr=8-1&keywords=743840872252) is releasing a portable dock for the Switch. It isn't as small as I would like, but someone could definitely make a smaller one if they removed some of the USB ports or arranged them so they aren't all on the same side of the adapter.
A dock at $60?! Pfft! Try $90 MSRP!
I agree with you one million percent, though. There is NO way the dock is worth nearly $100 after tax.
I have a pre-order in for the Nyko Portable Docking Kit, which I was luckily able to get for $44.99, before the price went up to $49.99.
Honestly, I still think even $45 is high, but I'm much more willing to pay $45 than $90.
If we were dealing with literally any other company, I'd agree that the JoyCons may go down in price as technology improves, demand decreases and manufacturing costs decrease. Since we are talking about Nintendo, though, I really doubt they'll drop the prices... ever.
Just look at how much a new Wii U Pro controller still costs today ($50+), for a "dead" console. I can get a new DualShock 4 on Amazon for less than that every day, often around $39.99.
I agree. Speaking of which, does RetroPi support save states? Almost to the point where I think it'd be worth it to just make my own:
https://www.amazon.com/CanaKit-Raspberry-Complete-Starter-Kit/dp/B01C6Q2GSY/
https://www.amazon.com/8bitdo-NES30-Pro-Controller-Carrying/dp/B01LW7JJPJ/
https://www.amazon.com/Super-Tinytendo-Raspberry-Model-Cooling/dp/B074JJRWHH/
Little more expensive, but it'd be PS Classic, SNES Classic, NES Classic and more all in one...
If you aren't sure about the galaxy, you might want to consider getting a plainer new 3ds XL and decorating it a bit. There are some cool Pokemon-themed decals and cases and things that work well with the plain black or red. Lots of them if you look around on Amazon and Etsy. Just an example: https://www.amazon.com/Pikachu-Premium-Protector-Nintendo-Officially-Licensed/dp/B01GVOFIPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473179371&sr=8-1&keywords=pikachu+3ds+case
Did you buy the Switch new? Looked up a couple things and it definitely should be same as the US version from what I’m seeing. Here is a link to the charger with pics on Amazon that should have came in the box. https://www.amazon.ca/Nintendo-HACAADHGA-Switch-AC-Adapter/dp/B01N7RUZ49/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=switch+charger&qid=1562165324&s=gateway&sr=8-3
>Unless you want it to display on your shelf there's no reason to buy one of these.

I dunno... I'd swap from the clear case my PiTendo currently has if I didn't think it looked neat "naked" as it is.
Hello, will I be able to make the following micro SD card work for the new 2DS? If yes, how do I do it? If not, what one do I need to buy to make it work?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010Q588D4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's... definitely not illegal do "distribute knowledge" of emulators.
They're available pretty much anywhere game accessories are sold. Found one at Walmart myself. Here it is on Amazon.
My favorite mod for the gamecube controller
Wait, did he say you can play while charging with the included AC adapter? Does that mean I don't have to buy one of these?

$5 Nintendo eShop Gift Card [Digital Code] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0YDV8M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kojzDb2BGP5VG
It isn't perfect, but you can replace the [N64 stick with one that works like the Gamecube one] (https://www.amazon.com/Redesigned-REPLACEMENT-Joystick-Controller-Thumbstick/dp/B009MRZAUC/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_63_t_0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FHK96TGDX7RTR0FS9NBQ)
He's talking about about this:
http://www.amazon.ca/Performanced-Designed-Products-LLC-Fight/dp/B00LSBNSJA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419621366&sr=8-1&keywords=smash+bros+fight+pad
It's a classic controller, not a GC controller. It just looks like a GC controller. You don't need the GC Controller adapter, you just need a Wiimote to plug it into.
Like this? Nintendo Switch Grip Kit, Joy-Con Grips & Thumb Grips https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT9RSST/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.z-KybC9X0VDA
What is the current situation for Switch travel docks? The last I heard, the first commercially available travel dock will be available by Nyko starting October 31st.
Are there any other docks that are now/will be available that are worth checking out?
Online is for sure, as Walmart and Amazon have it listed already.
I built one for my brother for Christmas. Decided to make it nice and fancy for him so I bought this kit and 2 of these controllers. Ran me about $90 combined. Then I followed this guide. Start to finish it probably took me 2-3 hours but almost all of that was waiting for installs and updates. Maybe 10 minutes of actually doing stuff.
I tried the one from DHE and it only worked for about two weeks. Luckily, when I contacted them about it the response was quick and I was refunded the purchase without having to send the faulty unit back.
After that, I ended up going with the official Nintendo adapter on Play-Asia.com (currently only $24). It's been working for over a year now without any problems. I think it's worth the extra money. It's from Japan but it works on my NA Wii U.
Uh what are you talking about? It's $60 on Amazon as well and there were reprints of the game recently being passed around.
This might interest you. It's functionally a classic controller, but it has the form factor of the GameCube controller.
Is a kit like this a waste of money? I'm planning on using a Wii U Pro controller, but don't have any of the other parts.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C6Q2GSY/
You can get 200 for around $70 which isn't too bad. Probably what I'll go with until 512GB or 1TB is affordable

Amazon has it for $40 brand new. I got my copy from them and it works with my US Wii U.
They sell kits to convert the joysticks to ones more similar to those found on Game Cube controllers.

To late but here is one option
There are classic controllers for the wii though.
https://www.amazon.com/Wii-Classic-Controller-Pro-Black-Nintendo/dp/B002TLTBN0?th=1
Price of this one is absurd but that may be because of how old the wii is.
They're just referring to these:
Classic Controller
Classic Controller Pro
They're just controllers made for the Wii's Virtual Console, but they plugged into the Wii remote itself to make it wireless.

That's the first step!
Here's the guide
Here's a complete starter kit with everything you need, hardware wise, to get started. You'll have to supply your own monitor and keyboard for the initial setup, but any HDMI monitor and any USB keyboard will work.
Here's a bit more high-end controller
Here's a couple cost-effective controllers.
The only thing not included here are the ROMs, which can be found with a google-type search for such things, but as with any legally gray area, enter at your own risk.

Except they also have a $5 one, so they're not all 2-digit numbers.
Any way you look at it, this gift card is different from all the others.
You can also buy an NES shaped/colored Raspberry Pi Case
Amazon link
I don't know for certain, but people have been recommending this one.
You can totally buy the AC adapter first-party: http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-3DS-AC-Adapter/dp/B00L59D9HG/ref=pd_sim_vg_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0G199HEY83WPF1K3XFYN
I get why they aren't including it (to save $10 off the initial price,) and as someone with 3 adapters laying around already, I don't really need another one. But I totally get the frustration too.
Probably not with the wiimote. If you're looking to use your NES controller you might still have lying around the house, there's this adapter from Mayflash if you want to test it out if it'll work with the mini NES.
