Not really answering your question, but if it's just for casual use and not trying to do anything hardcore, or cover a lot of distance, I'd recommend looking into an inflatable kayak.

They take about 5 minutes to pump up, can be used on minor rapids (not too rocky and sharp), handle okay, and best of all, they can be packed down into a bag that fits in any car.

It does well in a somewhat shady location, first of all. Second, make sure it gets watered twice a week (except in winter - march through September) especially in summer! Best to use one of the green “gator bags.” No need to fertilize, or backfill the planting hole with top soil. Only use whatever soil came out of the hole that was dug for it. Add 1-2” of mulch in a ring around the tree about 3-5’ In diameter. None touching the trunk of the tree. Make sure you can see a “flare” of roots, with that flare being at grade level.

I often thought of white elephants as trickled with gag gifts (+ hidden $25 gift cards). Some gifts include: Butt Face Soap, Unborrowable pens, Cat butt magnets, cell phone addiction aide; packaging includes: Group snuggie box, just some Victoria's secret bags. However, I think some Virginia honey or peanuts in a gift basket would be good for what you are looking for. Here is an Taste of Virginia gift basket.

I got a garage storage unit. It has two light sockets for light bulbs. I got an adapter that plugs into the light socket, and ran a power strip from one socket. Runs a few work lights just fine. Enter unit, close garage door, turn on work lights, jack up vehicle with hydraulic floor jack, put in stands, and get to work. Clean up after and you're good to go.

It can be done.

May I recommend a book? I've meditated for years and never really 'got it' until I read a book called "10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works--A True Story" by Dan Harris
https://www.amazon.com/10-Happier-Self-Help-Actually-Works/dp/0062265423

For some reason it clicked for me. I've been doing mindful meditation for a few years now and it's changed my life.

>Are there any HDTV antennas that are both?

Yes. The problem is with the "HDTV" buzzword. There is nothing different between an HDTV antenna and an old set of rabbit ears or the spidery antenna mounted on the roof, i.e. the radio carrier signal is the same. It's just that the content is now digital, and in some cases, Hi-Def.

>Would this be considered "dual-band" or something?

Yes. You want an antenna with both VHF capability and UHF capability. So one with dual long, thin antennae (the VHF part), and a round loop or other geometric contraption (the UHF part).

One popular combo antenna is the Terk HDTV antenna. It has a funky looking UHF part, plus a couple of VHF antennas hidden at the back.

>And does this just essentially mean that WJLA and WUSA haven't gotten on the bandwagon of offering HD over-the-air, and only do SD over-the-air?

No. WJLA (7-1) and WUSA (9-1) each have a full-HD main channel, plus two auxiliary channels (7-2, 7-3, 9-2, and 9-3, respectively).

I biffed at least one fact, as /u/jw12321 pointed out. It wasn't Jeffords' seat -- Jeffords didn't retire until 2007. I should have remembered that since I remember getting his book "My Declaration of Independence" signed and that was his book about leaving the Republican party in 2001. For regional points, I went to the book signing at the Barnes & Noble in DuPont Circle with a friend who was staffing for Leahy.

The Senate seat that McMullen was gunning for was Leahy's. Which my memory didn't even bother thinking of because that's fucking ludicrous given Leahy's popularity and incumbency. It made more sense to me that he'd run for an empty senate seat.

Goes to show how colossally stupid McMullen was. He horribly misjudged Vermont and Vermonters and blew over $220k of his own money on that race. And more googling turns up that he kept trying to run for office in and for Vermont... winning an uncontested GOP primary to go against Leahy again (lost; 24.7% to Leahy's 70.5%) and running for AG (lost; 33.3% to the incumbent's 57.9%).

Vermont doesn't like carpetbaggers.

Do it yourself, it's easy:

Just find the right battery and order it from Amazon, or spend more and get it from CVS.

\^ That's what you should buy if you want to use your tub for storing drinking water. I know some folks in FL who have used these successfully.

Check out "This is Where You Belong : Finding Home Wherever You Are." - A lot of people seem to wait for a community to reach out to them and make them feel at home, but you've got to make the effort. Simple things like spending less time in your car and more time walking in your neighborhood will make you feel more connected to the place you live.

Cytogainer is 54g of protein per serving (4 scoops) and is $40 for 6lbs.

u/MarioneTTe-Doll · 1 pointr/nova

Nothing special. I have four TV mounts sitting around.

I have two 2N1-M OmniMounts that I would try $40 for and two 4N1-M OmniMounts that I figured I would try $60 for.

Five-foot-two reporting in. Don't be that person who makes dumb excuses and makes us look bad. I did three cars and two pickups with one of these in under an hour. I'm sure you can find one cheaper if $20 is too expensive to keep other drivers safe on the road.

This isn't the exact model I use, but it's similar. Extendable scraper, which is hardly an accurate descriptor since you should really be using the squeegie/wiper side for the roof. It's never scratched my roof. If you're still worried, you can just exercise more caution and take it slower.

The key to getting snow off your roof? Getting out there (when possible) as it's snowing. That way, the snow is still wet and won't freeze on top. Maybe it's snowing while you're sleeping at night, and there's not much you can do. In my experience, there's almost always a time I can stop what I'm doing and get the snow off/make my life easier before my life gets harder once it freezes more.

My car was just hit my a sheet of icy snow this morning that someone couldn't give two shits about. Could they have eliminated the problem before it was MY problem? Yep. In the afternoon yesterday. Did they? No. Don't be this person.
