There have been dozens and dozens of really profound sightings of UFOs throughout history by some really credible people.
I have not personally seen a UFO myself but the evidence is there. A great book I can recommend is https://www.amazon.com/UFOs-Generals-Pilots-Government-Officials/dp/0307717089 this one.
It covers all the big sightings that everybody interested in the field should be familiar with. Betty and Hill abduction, the disappearance of Frederick Valentich off the coast of Australia and many many more are covered in detail. That's just to name two I know off the top of my head are covered in said book.
I've been interested in the phenomenon since I was a kid, so it probably has nothing to do with my schizophrenia. It's just a thing I have always believed in.
A great channel on Youtube is secureteam10. They regularly post sightings sent in by people from all over the world. I'd encourage you to disregard the stuff about how the moon is hollow and what not, though.
I read a lot too, but finding new subjects can be fun.
Last year, I got into locksport (recreational lock picking) because I realized I knew almost nothing about locks.
I am starting studying electronics because I can build computers, program and use them, and hack, but I knew very little about the underlying electronics. And considering that electronics are used in so many different things, I think it is worth having a practical understanding of it all.
I am using this book: http://www.amazon.com/Make-Electronics-Discovery-Charles-Platt/dp/0596153740
It seems to be a well regarded source for beginners. RadioShack had the kit which had all the stuff for the first chapters (the book actually goes into several areas to expose the reader to what comes next...the kit does not come with the parts for that). It was on sale and I had a coupon which expired this week.
You can try drawing. That's usually the simplest way to start. If you're not feeling it, then branch out to other things. I used to spend a lot of time on YouTube watching painting tutorials, and you can by some step-by-step painting books. This is my favorite one.
You can also do some fun things with plain old construction paper and a glue stick. :-)
Whispers: The Voices of Paranoia - not so much about schizophrenia directly, but a great read.
That's fortunate for you. I'm glad you are able to muster it through on your own. Yeah my mom has Borderline Personality Disorder so her empathy is not always there, and my dad is highly narcissistic where it's non-existent. Together, the form the BPD/NPD couple dynamic that made it difficult growing-up being their child -- eventually they divorced, which is an uncommon thing for Chinese parents, especially for immigrants. In many ways I feel emotionally stunted and am constantly looking for emotional support from them. Therapy is my last thread to stand on my own, on a weekly basis; it's pretty stressful when my therapist has to take a few weeks off.
Yes so its tuned to something like a dimension you can hear, its as real as anything but it is tiring. You get used to it. Its just out of conceptualization.
Sort of a half understanding.

That’s how I feel about anxiety. I rarely know what exactly I’m afraid is going to happen.
I’d recommend this book: Subliminal: How Your Unconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior. It looks at a bunch of studies investigating the concept of the “subconscious”. Tons of stuff about people being asked what would impact their preference, and then proving themselves wrong immediately after.
I feel like the voices and delusions are rooted in the subconscious, and thus can influence your preference for things in ways you cannot explain.
Sure, I would love to share to give you some perspective.
Within the first month she told me she had schizophrenia. Now, I've noticed while we dated that she experiences highs of feeling elated/happy and lows of withdrawal/silence. The moment she told me she must have let her guard down and was feeling comfortable enough to share, which I greatly appreciated.
Granted, I did not have much knowledge (except from old myths and movie portrayals) of schizophrenia. As our relationship progressed, I didn't question much about her illness especially during times she was experiencing symptoms of hearing voices and delusions. When asked about them though, she would become defensive and respond back that things like "well you don't tell me anything about yourself, so why should I have to tell you about what I'm going through."
I tried using logic and factual evident to refute her delusions (mainly accusations that I was falling for other girls when we're out in public). But this grew tiresome because she claims things like "I know what I saw, and it's my feeling that you're checking out these other girls."
I'm still in the relationship at the moment, but I'm not positive if I can continue it much longer. My relationship with my own family is becoming strained because of their lack of understanding of the illness, and no matter what I do to portray a good picture of her, her actions don't seem to help the cause of us being together.
I'm sorry to go on a rant here. What really did help recently was going to a bookstore and picking up a book about schizophrenia. We sit down and read this together. There's nothing more valuable than educating yourselves and it can open a bridge to learning how the illness can affect you and the partner and different methods of treatment.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Hi Fried, I don't agree that what gets labeled schizophrenia is a "disorder" - that's a value judgment about how people respond to adverse experiences, psychological and biological.
Also do not agree that these problems have a biological origin (if by origin one means cause); that has never been confirmed. What I believe is that there are biological and epigenetic correlates to extreme distress as the person and environment interact.
Lastly, there been many, many accounts of full recovery from a diagnosis of schizophrenia; I thought that issue was already resolved and am always sincerely surprised when people say they think schizophrenia is incurable. I'll paste in here my list of reading of intensive psychotherapeutic approaches to schizophrenia, starting from decades ago and going up till the present, which contains a few hundred cases with many stories of "cure"; I think if people were more familiar with this work they'd be a lot more optimistic:
