Get separate headphones and mic. That way you aren't sacrificing quality on anything just for the convenience of it being in one package. Great sound and build quality, probably has a bad mic. Great build quality and in your budget, bad sound/mic. I bought a gaming headset (333D 179.00 USD) phenomenal sound and quality mic, but the build quality and comfort is sub par. It's plastic and it feels like I'll break it if I'm too rough with it, plus after 2.5 years the mic is failing and the sound card has stopped working. Plus if the mic fails on a headset you need to replace the whole thing.

Onto specifics, if I have persuaded you on separate headphones and mic, I'd suggest the Mod mic from Antlion . As for the headphones, I am a slave to Sennheiser sound. But build quality sub 200 is plasticy, good plastic, but still plastic. I'd suggest nothing less than the 558 and nothing above the 598 for your price point (amazon has prices that better reflect how long they've been around). If you care more about heavy bass I'd suggest the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x look into each of those for what you're looking for and it's okay to let your wallet decide for you, they are all great headphones.

If you still desire an all in one the Sennheiser GAME ONE is 180 on Amazon and it is a very fantastic headset.

hello, im happey to say that there is an option for you, today i have got my new Brainwavz Replacement Memory Foam Earpads and they are awesome!

It dose "change" the sound and if you ask me, it sound better then the normal pads, the pads are big and feel great.

The pads make those headphones sound more "open" and add more space to the sound stage. It dose make the Bass softer.

It appears that at one point in time Sennheiser made headband replacements for the HD 598's but maybe not any longer? There are some 3rd party replacements on Amazon. Here's a link to the official one that is no longer in stock but they show some alternatives. Not sure of quality of the alternatives however. https://smile.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Replacement-Headband-Padding-Headphones/dp/B073ZKJZSG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1523300274&sr=8-2&keywords=hd+598+headband

Edit: Here's a 3rd party cover if your padding is still good, but just need something to keep it attached to the headset. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B073CHJ631/ref=psdc_13880181_t2_B073ZKJZSG

I have both the Sennheiser Urbanite On Ear and the Urbanite XL Wireless Bluetooth and I listen to basically the same music as you. Their performance is fantastic, the bass is solid, and they are really comfortable. They're good for both indoor and outdoor use, but neither are active noise-cancelling; they're passive but work well.

I continued looking for better options until I heard back from Sennheiser's customer service. I found a cheapo pair that really ticked all the boxes for me, minus comfort and mic quality. They're a bit tight on the ears and the mic is a tad on the weak side, but they're working fairly well so far for what I need. They do a great job of isolating out noise while still sounding decent enough for my needs.

if you read the entire thread, I tested the USB adapter with both my older Game Zero's (from i believe 2014) and it works fine, it's only the newer model with the removable cable that doesn't work. All other settings are identical. The microphone literally has to be in your mouth + shouting to hear anything.

I have updated the drivers, still the same situation. It has to do with the new model of the headset, I heard back from Sennheiser and apparently the new model is 50Ohmz impedance instead of the previous 150 Ohmz that I have in my headset. They swear it doesn't affect the microphone, and only the Cans but it seems like there's not enough juice being pulled through when going through usb for the signal to possibly make the conversion.

the adapter is this; https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8

Again to be clear. older model GAME ZERO's work with this adapter.
New model does NOT.

Would this be under warranty even though it is sold by a different seller but delivery fulfilled by amazon?

The HD569 have a 2.5 mm jack. So you won't be able to plug the Boompro directly. You'll need this adaptor. But you might need to trim the plastic because the standard cable has a very slim connector (as you can see in the picture).

The HD569 are a good chouse in terms of impedance. I've seen 16-32 ohms recommended. But I am not sure if even these will be overkill for the output of the PS4 controller.

If this is too complicated, I would also recommed the HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset. They have excelent reviews.

Thanks for your suggestion, I'll think about it.

Also, is this the velour pads that you're referring to? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFDX4YO

If by cups you mean the ear pads yes they do. They pads are are clipped by a piece of plastic. But here is a link Genuine Replacement Ear Pads Cushions for SENNHEISER HD598 Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0084NNK4I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-qvJAb9SN1BB0

I use this amplifier to control the speakers at my desk (Headphones / Computer Speakers / Subwoofer; it lets me lower the subwoofer individually at night since I have apartment neighbors) and I was told at the audio place that I got it from that the difference between this and a premium headphone amp were negligble, and I bought it for my 6xx's. It definitely, noticeably (I'd like to put emphasis here) increased max volume from my desktop PC and Apple laptop. I also haven't noticed anything clarity-wise, but that is to my untrained ear.

I would recommend a adapter cable, not just the short adapter, this will take some of the bulk away and not put that much load on the minijack port. https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Cable-Adapter-Female-6-3mm/dp/B008JGWY2Y/

It’s not really that small but it’s the size of the headphone and hard shelled. I’ve had it for a few years and traveled with it in my book bag a lot.
