Night trips are fun. The darkness leaves stuff to your imagination although you can't appreciate the beauty of nature as much. Also, star gazing is amazing. The shrooms dialate your pupils so they let more light in and all of the stars look super vivid.

You can do a lot of things while you trip but I think it is best to just sit and talk. If you want to go for a walk, that would also be nice. I don't think there is really much of a point in planning out activities since you'll find something fun to do while tripping.

It's hard to say how your recent breakup could effect your trip. It sounds like you have a good mindset regarding what happened so I think you'll be fine but no one can really say for sure.

A half eighth is a rather small dose (which is why it is recommended to beginners), and your weight doesn't matter, so you probably shouldn't expect anything mind blowing. You might see a bit of visual distortion but not much and you'll have slightly different thought patterns. It's hard to describe how the thought patterns are different but your mind sort of jumps between topics and makes connections that it normally wouldn't. You also forget a lot of your biases and preconceptions about things. It also seems pretty common for people to cry a lot while on shrooms. It's not exactly a sad crying but more of your eyes just produce a lot of tears while you are very emotional.

And finally, I don't think you should look for something spiritual from your first trip. I think you should figure out what psychedelics are like before you start seeking to use them as a spiritual aid. If you want to use them to have a spiritual experience after your first trip though, I highly recommend this book. It's written by a Ph.D. level psychologist that had a job monitoring people on LSD in therapeutic settings while he was in grad school. He knew a lot of the other prominent psychologist in the psychedelic community such as Tim Leary and Richard Alpert. He's definitely a very smart guy with a lot of experience in the world of psychedelics and the mind.

Where to start? There are so many differing approaches and ideas on how best to use mushrooms for self-improvement that it's difficult to offer proper advice. I guess the best general advice I could offer is to learn as much as you can and then experiment with techniques to find what works best for you and your husband but also don't become too attached to any technique; it's best to remain fluid.

To be more specific, consider some of the following ideas...

Work on setting specific intentions beforehand. What do you want to get out of this trip? What are your emotional intentions? Write it down, talk about it, just put some energy into forming and understanding your intentions before the trip.

During the trip, let go of your intentions. Your conscious mind does not now how to achieve your intentions otherwise you wouldn't need mushrooms. Often times during a trip I come to the realization that my compulsion to label, understand and rationalize are what is inhibiting me from progress. To that end meditation is quite useful for quieting the compulsions of the mind.

After the trip journaling is again useful. The ineffable lessons learned are best assimilated by attempting to articulate those lessons, whether that means talking about them or writing it does not matter.

But, as many will say, mushrooms won't always give you what you seek but they do tend to give you what you need. I deeply understand the desire for results but gaining a handle on tripping is essential otherwise it's just brainfuck masterbation (sorry for the crude wording.) In that sense, it's probably best that your husband didn't get as deep as he felt necessary. The brain's ability to deceive us is uncanny so it's important to begin to recognize the self deception before going too deep.

Personally I believe mushrooms only suspend your mental barriers; the hallucinations are a product of your mind's inability to fully comprehend your personal truths and see through the deception. Everything you encounter in a trip is nothing more than you, whether you see a hideous monster or yourself as a scared, crying, vulnerable child (for example) depends on your ability to recognize your mind's deception. Your mind deceives you in this way to protect you from something you were unable to cope with at the time you experienced it.

On a side note, check out The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide and also consider looking into a practice known as holotropic breathwork, it can produce very similar effects to mushrooms and works incredibly well as an adjuvant to tripping. I found this article in particular rather compelling.

The fifth kingdom beginner book, I would recommend this. It goes over fungal taxonomy Oomycota, Zygomycota and Eumycota. It also has ecology and fungi as food.

The kingdom fungi coffee table book it has general taxonomy of the kingdom but also very nice pictures.

Introduction to fungi Depends on your definition of beginner, this is bio and orgo heavy. Remember the fungi you see pop out of the ground (ascos and basidios) are only a tiny fraction of the kingdom.

This hobby is full of that, reading this is great in one place then hearing the opposite from somewhere else...

Gave me some great results so I actually just went to a feed store yesterday and got a hugeee 50lb bag of rye seed for 22$. Like its so big I have to keep it in the trunk of my car cause I live in a tiny apartment and am running out of room for all the shit I have now lol. It'll definitely last a while so it was worth driving a little extra distance to find the right place to get it.

Don't take the lid off. Can you put a fan inside the closet on the floor facing away from the sfgc on the lowest setting?

Evaporation triggers the growth of pins and a good indicator that you're lacking FAE is "fuzzy feet" (it looks like fluffy growth on the base of the stipe growing upwards) -- if you have more than a half inch of fuzzy feet, u need more FAE.


rice is a bad idea. it doesn't work for phones and it's an urban myth. don't do that either. your best and most inexpensive bet is to construct a desiccant chamber and couple that with a fan if possible.

here's a desiccant product u can get online or at lowes/home depot/walmart and some more information about using dessicants for drying

I chose exo as I found exo, many had the title "eco earth" with different manf, havent been to a pet store in years and closest i know of its pets mart, since Exo Terra Plantation Soil was listed at $6 for a 3pack i figured its best to get exactly what you guys posted. Have you tried agar techniques before? Its super easy to do. Experience tip- these lids wear out and rust after about 5-10 cycles. Next go around buy all plastic lids instead. They don’t rust, are PC safe and are much easier to unscrew when you’re removing the lids to spawn IMO.

Edit: The casing definitely has verm (vermiculite) in it. I didn't take a note of that at first. Kinda makes sense just like with coir/verm 50/50 sub.

This is all very true, but I'm surprised you didn't even mention a scale when you're dealing with a substance that's active at 5mg. 4-AcO is literally impossible to eyeball cause you're dealing with small amounts of powder, when I bought mine I bought this with it. You NEED an accurate MILLIGRAM 0.000 scale for this substance.

Get yourself a scale, and try not to skimp. Honestly there's a massive difference between a $5-$15 scale and a $30 scale.

Next, get a grinder. I'm going to assume you already have one, and if not, finding one isn't exactly difficult. (Though this is clearly the champion)

Grind it up, decide how much you want to take, say, 2.5 grams. Keep in mind that potency varies wildly between not just species but individual mushrooms and fruitings.

Even though it varies, its best to have some control over your dose. And there are guides for dosing all over the place.

Invest in a "dichotomous key" field guide Mushrooms Demystified is a good one. Yes, it's a big scary book with a heap of new vocabulary but it is well worth the effort.

The key is a series of yes or no questions beginning with the color of the spore print Is it white or another color? Black or another color? ect. Each species has its own pattern of answers that leads to its ID

Just get something like this and store them. I've read they can lose potentsy after time, so just make sure you use them in a somewhat timely manner. Also, you could put them in capsule form. Which is an easy way to control dosage.

Grind them up in a food processor or coffee grinder and fill up the capsules. Start with one pill and see how you feel and proceed to adjust your dosage.

Micropore is aka paper tape. It rips easy off the roll. This kind you need trauma scissors or similar. I'm in health care, you're looking for this...

Because it's by far one of the best scales for the price. If you want something more accurate or precise, buy a nicer scale that weighs out to the thousandths of a gram. You barely even need a scale that goes out to the tenth of a gram for weighing mushrooms, let alone a hundredth. I personally use this one that weighs to the 0.1g for most things since the capacity (1kg) is so much higher. I got it for six dollars and it's much more convenient than weighing out 100g at a time.

These are the jars I use. And it seems to me like that incubator method is to avoid using perlite, I just put my cakes in a SGFC with around 4 inches of wet perlite to keep my humidity up.

I was in the same boat as you and kind of flew by the seat of my pants for this whole thing because it can be difficult to know what is the "correct" way to do stuff because everyone has their own suggestions.

The substrate I used was purchased from Amazon here!

I grated up 2 BRF cakes in a cheese grater and mixed with a full bag of this substrate. I did not dunk the cakes before grating them and mixing with substrate.

these are tapered 1/2 pint wide mouths. Better than regular mouth jars. These are 1/2 pint regular mouth jars, will work but not as well. These are Ziploc 1 pint twist and seal containers with screw on lids and are my favorite by far. They pc fine (as long as you dont let your pc run dry) but you have to melt 4 holes in the lid or the negative pressure makes the sides suck in.
