They are loud, create a lot of heat, and need constant ventillation, so unless you have a dedicated room in your apartment/house then don't bother.
You can mine altcoins with a GPU/CPU though.

also - I did some calculations with nicehash and this price https://www.amazon.com/AntMiner-L3-504MH-Litecoin-Scrypt/dp/B06Y6KTH7P - and found the antminer to return its cost in 5 months - definedly something to save up for!
