brand usually doesn't matter.

when looking at a monitor the main things to pay attention to are:

  • Response time (usually anything below 3ms is good for gaming)

  • Refresh rate (this is the max ammount of FPS a monitor can output, so a 60hz monitor can go up to 60FPS, but no higher)

  • Resolution (Pretty obvious, anything 1920x1080 and up is the standard these days, choose this based on your graphics card and/or the ammount you're willing the spend. generally gaming at higher resolutions means less performance, but again thats indicitive of your own GPU)

  • Price

as for the size of the monitor, thats entirely up to you, either 24" or 27" are fine for gaming. most people will usually have a 24"

This Monitor is amazing for its price if you want my reccomendation.

If immersion is the main factor, have you looked into the curved monitors? I have heard they are great for that stuff, but do not get curved tv's as they are awful. If you are gaming on the desk (therefore quite close to the screen) a monitor is the better option. I currently have this monitor for 1080p 60Hz and it's brilliant.:

Took me a while to find one that was half decent with buttons on the side.

u/thebigguysheamus · 2 pointsr/OpTicGaming

Yeah was on Amazon, the 21 inch one was about £65 at the time! This is the one I got, currently £110 on there.

Edit: I fucked up, this is not the one I have. But still, decent if you're looking in that kind of price range.

For the display, http://www.amazon.de/BenQ-GL2450HM-Monitor-Reaktionszeit-schwarz/dp/B005OPLG0O (the DVI version) would be fitting.

This is a decent monitor with speakers they aren't great but it'll do a job until you can get some external ones

u/WolfType · 2 pointsr/buildapc

You don't need 16GB of RAM, go for 8. The rest is fine.

This, this and this are good for monitors in that budget.

  • Do you really want or need water cooling? Stick with the Kraken if you want water cooling, otherwise go with the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 for air cooling
  • You can save about ~£18 on the PSU if you drop it to the Corsair CX 600 since it's about ~£50
  • I'm going to assume that monitor is 1080p, if so, Amazon has the BenQ 24" 1080p monitor for ~£110. I've used a few of them and it's an excellent monitor

Besides that, it will be a great build. I can't wait until I get my 980.

I bought one of these last week for my Pro and I'm loving it so far: BenQ GL2450HM

The speakers are pretty rubbish as expected, but the headphone output jack works great, and has no hiss unlike an ASUS VE248HR that I first tried.

Appreciate the fast response!

Although old now, this is the monitor i have... i also have a second monitor which is a little square thing from the stone ages that i throw on so i can dual view haha!

  • Thanks for the lookout with the mobo, although I'm kinda stuck in two minds now whether to not just go with the Ryzen 5 1600 CPU and drop the intel, mainly for the purpose of more cores etc... If i did how would you approach the motherboard change then? (prefer ATX to micro in all honesty)

  • As for the memory, you probably know more than me about it, so if there truly isn't a noticeable difference, i may aswell save the money!

  • Graphics card; RX 580 8GB seems to be popular here, i believe that will be my choice now, thank you!

  • The PSU was a long shot, i have a £40 Maplin voucher, and the store had it on their website so i thought maybe i could get away with it! But I'd rather stay on the safe side with a better quality one!

    Many thanks 🙏

Hey guys,

As a longtime gamer I wanted to upgrade one thing. The monitor. I actually run a Samsung Syncmaster 2032BW which is pretty old.

So now I have a GeForce 1060 GTX (6GB, if this is out of any importance) and wanted to buy a second monitor. But wait, there is more.

I want to be able to also connect to a 3rd monitor (condition given, that I can decide which monitor will replace my TV).

So I might need a little bit of help with a few questions.

  • Which monitors can you guys recommend me? (I got BenQ1 and BenQ2, can't decide 24" or 27")

  • Can I even stick to 3 monitors (simultaniously)? My GPU only supports 1xDVI and 1xHDMI (and some Displayports afaik).

  • Given that I really replace my TV for a monitor, which one should I get? (I would use it for my Laptop/PC and probably for a Ps4 if a friend is coming over)

Hope you guys can help me out :)

    Peace, Deceptive~
u/Orphe · 1 pointr/buildapc

Man you really sold me on that monitor and went to check it out, but from a brief search, I can't find it for no less than ~£160 in the UK.

That said, I've been looking in to this BenQ monitor, what do you think of that for the price? I'm trying to stay down around the £100-£120 mark.

I suppose I could just save up that extra ~£30 and get the one you linked...

u/Susanalbumparty1 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I use a http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005OPLG0O pretty good for the price but does have a thick bezel so dual screens could be a hassle.

u/JamesS909 · 1 pointr/CoDCompetitive

Thanks for the quick response. My setup right now is non existent. I play on a TV with a normal controller.

What are people's opinions on these 2 monitors

That's about £82 which is a good shout however I would like something a bit bigger than 20". Thought this might be a good one for the price : http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2450HM-Widescreen-Multimedia-Monitor/dp/B005OPLG0O/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t.

Thanks! I'm planning on just getting a second Benq monitor. I was slightly worried about using two monitors as I think my graphics card only has one HDMI port? But checking again it seems I do have a second one, haha :) Thank you again!

u/escherbach · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thanks, very nice looking spec! That's great advice about the ssd I thought it would be out of of our price range - but I think I can stretch to around £700. I prefer a 2ms screen ( benQ model ), and maybe a higher wattage power supply, but that looks a nice selection of parts.

u/TeepEU · 1 pointr/buildapc

Was just planning on getting a BenQ one of Amazon,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2450HM-Widescreen-Multimedia-Compatible/dp/B005OPLG0O/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_text_y

Is their another you would suggest

u/danzey12 · 1 pointr/buildapc

So is it good to assume then, that with a close to TN response time and good colours an ips monitor is good for gaming, I was originally looking at the no. 1 best seller on Amazon some benQ thing but it's a TN and you say the colour is utter shit , here it is. The problem is the cheapest dell ultrasharp, is this which is expensive, not 24" although that's not too important and has an 8ms response time, it does look a lot nicer though.
My budget on this was like £150, I found this which is 1080p, ips, 24" with 5ms response, is it any good, it seems to be the same price as other 21.5 ips monitors, im worried it's a piece of cheap crap.
Aside from that do you have any suggestions for £150 or $235 according to google.

u/isntathief · 1 pointr/xboxone

Okay, I didn't keep speakers in mind as on Monitors they are 99% of the time crap however some of these have them, if not all. They just suck and definitely would recommend getting a speaker set or headphones for the Xbox One with the Stereo Adapter. However I found the following, and gave my opinion on each. I really enjoy the look of the ASUS 27" and would definitely get that one for myself if I needed it.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HVCJS8K - 24" BenQ : I personally like the look of a very minimal bezel around the screen. Looks clean and has good reviews though lacking in numbers.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FQ8B118 - 27" BenQ : Very similar to the above with with a thicker bezel, overall good reviews and still looks clean.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005OPLG0O - 24" BenQ : A little bit more plain, and monitor like. It looks good and is their best selling monitor, you could also get two of these for the price of that ASUS 3D Monitor.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00A4K9KBQ - 27" ASUS : This is by far my favorite looking screen, the reviews state that the colors are very vibrant, the screen looks very sharp and clean with a small bezel, it however is a bit higher in price than the previous two links, but lower than the 3D Monitor.

u/Capula · 1 pointr/buildapc

This http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2450HM-Widescreen-Multimedia-Compatible/dp/B005OPLG0O/ref=zg_bs_428652031_1 - 1080p, 24 inch and 2ms response time which is great for gaming.

u/Bycraft · 1 pointr/buildapc

Not sure if the right place but everyone seems very knowledgeable.

So i'm looking for a new monitor with a budget of around £150. I'm either look at one the budget BenQ's like this or This.

I've also been looking at 2nd hand monitors on eBay and can pick up a BenQ XL2410T for the same price.

Obviously I would prefer 120/144Hz as I plan to use it for gaming but what are your thoughts on getting an older, 2nd hand monitor. Any advice would be amazing. Thanks!

Thanks, but I think I have found the one i'm going to get.

u/Remersed · 1 pointr/HardwareSwapUK

No dead pixels that I can see and everything else seems fine. It's this one which is funny because it says speakers on there and I always thought it didn't have any. I'm going to plug it in and see if it does have speakers!

u/artemisbot · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

You can get a monitor for £100. Windows 8.1 64bit is £80 or so. Get a b100 and k120. If you want speakers get some more Logitech ones, don't get a headset at this price.

So it's a £450 pc. On top of this, I suggest this PSU, and this GPU. Unfortunately they aren't on pcpartpicker. This is the monitor I suggest. Anyway:

You might have money over to get an SSD. Grab a 128gb mx100 if at all possible. Be sure to overclock the pentium.
