Sport Type: Hunting
definitely worth considering a 1-4x scope if you are spending over a few hundred dollars. you can shoot both eyes open, you have variable power for mid-range shooting, and this Leupold VX-2 cost slightly less than EOTech 512 and weighs slightly less.
Edit: Red dots do have some advantages, especially if you are almost exclusively shooting at under 100 yards. But I find that most people that shoot targets, three gun, and hunt, are as well or better served by low power, variable optics.
if you are really worried about "co-witnessing" and you are worried about your optic going down and not being able to switch quickly to irons (or dropping hunting or at the range or some improbable scope, breaking shenanigan of a situation) then get a quick detach mount.
Yes.
Vortex's website for the mount say 25-35 inch-pounds of torq.
Screws and bolts aren't quick detaching, this is an example of a QD mount.
I run it on a cantilever mount like this Burris PEPR. I got a slightly cheaper version from someplace but any cantilever mount should work fine.
