Joe Kelly's Run

Cable and Deadpool

If you like a wackier Deadpool then Daniel Way's Run (1of4)

Remender's Uncanny X-Force

For an Alternate Universe Deadpool but a great read check out Killology by Cullen Bunn Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, Deadpool Killustrated, Deadpool Kills Deadpool.

Deadpool's Current Marvel Now

Also go check out /r/Deadpool. There's lots of reading lists on there as well.

Yeah and Joe Kelly's Deadpool runs comes out in January in an omnibus.

u/Cabooseaholic · 5 pointsr/funny

I highly suggest the Joe Kelly Omnibus for anyone who wants to read Deadpool. I really enjoyed the story and made me laugh. It is not like the Deadpool where he makes jokes and breaks the fourth wall in the omnibus. He does sometimes, but not as much as now. I also suggest the Daniel Way series of Deadpool. More funny and fourth wall humor. The third pic is one from the Omnibus, and the fifth pic is one from Daniel Way.

Omnibus : http://www.amazon.com/Deadpool-Joe-Kelly-Omnibus/dp/0785185593

Daniel Way collection: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_11?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=daniel%20way%20deadpool&sprefix=daniel+way+%2Cstripbooks%2C289&rh=i%3Astripbooks%2Ck%3Adaniel%20way%20deadpool

Or just torrent it like I did.

Edit: Woah, I did buy the Omnibus and the first two vol. of the Daniel Way Deadpool series. I just torrented it after I bought them to read on the go.

1997 1-33, by joe kelly are my favorite by far.

theres an omnibus of it too : http://www.amazon.ca/Deadpool-Joe-Kelly-Omnibus/dp/0785185593

Personally hated everything about the Daniel Way Deadpool books. Was then told to just make the leap and pick up the Kelly Omnibus. I did, and it was worth every cent. Excellent book if you are a fan of the character

u/therunner5 · 3 pointsr/comicbooks

Daniel Way is horrible and totally butchered who Deadpool is. Everything went horrible with Daniel way's run. I recommend you get the omnibus /u/Corrinth suggested. I am talking about this one

Joe Kelly's Deadpool is widely considered to be the best Deadpool. Cable & Deadpool comes in a close second.

u/rdeluca · 3 pointsr/pics

If you haven't read Joe Kelly run (the original run of Deadpool) do so - it's widely regarded as the best Deadpool was ever written (up until good bad and the ugly, which was brilliant).

There's a torrent out there (Pirate bay) with all the comics from 97-2010 that covers it pretty well or if you have money to blow - http://www.amazon.com/Deadpool-Joe-Kelly-Omnibus/dp/0785185593

I read the torrent and try to buy up comics as much as I can, but they're old enough that they're hard to find in anything but a giant collection.

u/successadult · 2 pointsr/deadpool

Most people suggest Joe Kelly's run and Cable & Deadpool (you mentioned you already read that one.)

I started with the current run by Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn and it's generally considered pretty good as well. Apparently nobody likes Daniel Way. Poor guy.

u/Gutalalala_Sudalalal · 2 pointsr/comicbooks

I'm not reading any of the new stuff, so I don't know. I'd recommend [Joe Kelly's run] (https://www.amazon.com/Deadpool-Joe-Kelly-Omnibus/dp/0785185593) and if that's too long or too much of an investment, [Duggan's run] (https://www.amazon.ca/Deadpool-Posehn-Duggan-Gerry-Dugan/dp/0785154469), which gets really great at the 3rd arc.

The Joe Kelly Omnibus came out not too long ago

I just recently bought it myself. It's a pretty incredible value for $75, and it looks great on your shelf!

u/MatticusVP · 2 pointsr/deadpool

Damn, $154.99 on Amazon

Not sure you'll find it cheaper anywhere.

Here are some links for the product in the above comment for different countries:

Joe Kelly's Deadpool omnibus is what you want.

> Is this the right one for Kelly?

Yes. The author is just mislabeled, I think?

But it's cheaper to just buy the Joe Kelly hardcover omnibus. It contains all the content from the first 5 volumes of Deadpool Classic, which will run you about £107, whereas the omnibus is £61.

I would also highly recommend the Deadpool Minibus as well as the current run by Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan.

I've also heard really good things about the Deadpool & Cable Omnibus.

Deadpool Classic Volume 1 may be the best place to start since it has the first appearance of Deadpool and 2 awesome 4 part mini-series that take place before his first true solo run. This collection also has the first issue of his solo run from 1997, which is his first "true" solo run.

Next is the Joe Kelly solo run which is a really strong little ditty. I quite liked it. I want to say it's 33 issues, which takes us to the millennium.

I'm not sure what takes place here, from 2000ish to 2004ish, and I want to know. I want to read all of the Deadpool stuff, because he is my favorite solo character, and since he's been around for just over 20 years, I might be able to read it all in a small amount of time.

After that gap is what I consider to be my personal favorite, Cable & Deadpool which is very strong, poignant, and hilarious.

After that is Daniel Way and people love to jerk each other off about how bad it was. I have heard mixed reviews, some say it starts good and putters, others say it's a Flanderization of Deadpool. I haven't read it, but I plan to.

Then you got the Duggan and Posehn run which starts here and runs up to relatively recently (I think it may have ended this year). I read the first 5 volumes over the past week and a half, and have quite enjoyed it, but I like the Kelly run and C&D run better.

To my knowledge they've been compiling a lot of 90's pool. Just start at the beginning. You'll have an enjoyable read.
You'll have to shell out some cash if you want a physical copy.

Idk if I'd recommend Daniel Way over Joe Kelly. Daniel Way's Deadpool lacks a lot of depth and further turns him into a walking punch line. I'd have to go with Joe Kelly's writing over Daniels. but that's just like my opinion, man.

Good buy if you can afford it
Another good buy

started with Deadpool and Cable and almost done, thinking about picking up this http://www.amazon.com/Deadpool-Joe-Kelly-Omnibus/dp/0785185593 which might also be a good starting point.

u/Cadhlaureen · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

just a forewarning, they do try and shoot at you in the water to keep you away. It's a game mechanic, so even if you're stealth swimming you still get shot. You can still make it up to the ship though (unless they patched all of this)

http://www.amazon.com/Deadpool-Joe-Kelly-Omnibus/dp/0785185593 This is the Joe Kelly omnibus, sorry I was a bit vague there. I guess technically I do own Deadpool, just nothing super recent.

I'm the same with DC, very very pick with characters, and I tend to like DC villians more than the heroes. I'd read Joker comics all day!

It's quite good, I think you'll like it!

Ahh I don't even remember when I stopped watching. Add in general annoy the crap out of me now- I can't stand watching regular cable TV, commercials drive me up the wall and make me irrationally mad. So I just watch everything on netflix.

Meee tooo! Mostly, I mean- they could have done a lot worse, but they did a good job and I really loved the stories so- overall it was worth it!

u/thefleeingpigeon · 1 pointr/movies

For Spider-man, the most recent to go if you want to know how the Superior Spider-man story goes (Doc ock as Spidey) try Spider-man: Big Time and go from there. It will lead to Superior Spider-man.

As for Deadpool, his first run under Joe Kelly is considered one of the best. Deadpool humor but with a mix of dark as it really explores Deadpool as a character. Joe Kely's run is collected in the Deadpool: Classic trade paperbacks vol. 1 - 5 or you can buy the Deadpool by Joe Kelly omnibus which is a much cheaper route if you buy online. Only Deadpool writer/run I wouldn't recommend is the daniel way Deadpool. It started out pretty good but it suffered from repetitive meme style jokes and lazy writing. The current Deadpool run is still great and pretty reminiscent of Joe Kelly as it has the comedy and darkness without over using the fourth wall breaking and god awful constant chimichanga blurting

Marvel's current run of comics is pretty new user friendly for the most part. I've only been reading for more than a year and a lot of the stuff I've read is the new stuff and I jumped in with the basic, general knowledge of the characters. Check with a local comic shop and drop by /r/comicbooks, you'll find plenty good recommendations based on your interests so hope you fin something you want to read soon.
