Meh, some iron ons or a fabric marker should do the trick.

So Iron-on is cheaper, faster, requires no outside knowledge or chemical treatments, infinite colors at no added cost per color and anyone with a printer can do it. The problem is it looks like shit 100% of the time.

For silk screening...you need to be set up for it, special squeegees, different ink for each color, you need to prep your screen with a stencil or an emulsion and then you need another screen or to redo your screen for each color in the design.

If you want to do photo emulsion which I would suggest for complex designs then you need emulsion fluids, light box, and a dark room to go with it.

Than you have to register it correctly for multiple colors to come out, and get your ink consistency correct, and your squeegee pressure consistent.

If you have to ask this and have no experience in screen printing then you aren't ready for it and you really have a few options:

1. Do Printer Transfers and Iron them on (Which look awful)

2. Pay Someone to screen print the shirts (Which costs money)

3. Many Print shops can digitally print ink right onto a t-shirt (Better then iron on and less pricey with more color options than screen printing)

4. If you really want to learn to Screen-Print, it is quite a process and I suggest you find someone with the know-how maybe in a shop or a co-op, even a college and learn from them. There are many guides and shortcuts online but it is a time-consuming and often expensive process to learn to do this on your own because you will mess up frequently and catastrophically until you eventually get it right.

Do it yourself. All you need is an iron and some iron on transfer paper

The only thing you need to buy is this.
It's special sheets of paper that when you print an image onto it you can iron it onto your shirt. You can read into the printer and ink requirements on the page of the product I linked, but I am fairly sure most printers can't be used as long as they're not 10 years old or older.

If you've got a printer at home you can buy iron-on transfer paper at an office supply store or a hobby store and just print and iron the design at home.
This is one type of paper: http://www.amazon.com/Epson-Transfer-Inches-Sheets-S041153/dp/B00004TS2H
There are other manufactures and other types, including for dark shirts.

What about something like this? If you draw up the picture on your computer then you can print it onto the paper and then iron it onto the tshirt/sweater.

You can do it yourself
and print it at home. This kind of paper is also available at a staples or michaels, too.

I've passed on the request, he's checking to see if he has everything in working order. You know, you could always just buy something like this and iron it on yourself, assuming you have access to a good printer.

I'll let you know if the clamshell iron on is a go once I hear back from him.
