HyperX Clouds. Less than $100 and rated one of the best gaming headsets out there, definitely the best bang for your buck. Got them for Christmas last year and kinda bummed they weren't a pair of $400 Astros but god damn I wouldn't rather have anything else

Edit: link, I got the white and black ones and like it better than the red and black

From what I understand, these are some generic China made headphones and are often rebranded by different distributors.

I've seen these same headphones under the brand of Sades.

You're getting what you pay for. $25, less than sub-par quality, V-shaped headphones. Mic is definitely not the best out there.

I've seen these headphones for the same price before as well, I believe this "deal" is just the way Amazon sellers will list something at 10x the value and then drop the price to retail and claim you're saving.

In terms of quality of these headphones, I'd say skip it.

TL;DR: You'll get a better deal buying the Kingston HyperX Core for $55.

If money is
insanely tight, and you just need some headphones, you can pick up the Superlux HD 681s for $35-40 on amazon/ebay. The only gripes with this headphone is the earpads and the enhanced highs (causes sibilance). But if you're willing to do away with comfort and want good sound for the money, these are still an option.

If money is really tight, get a Takstar 2050, or Superlux 668B/681 Evo (681 improved, also known as MK II) from a Chinese retailer/taobao/ebay. The 681 EVOs come with Velour pads.
Price is too high in Canada for these ($70 versus ~$40 if bought from china), but YMMV. Worth the wait though.

For a mic, get the Audio Technica clip-on mic from NCIX or wherever.

  • If you can spend a little more on a mic, get a mod mic. Benefit is you can always upgrade your headphones and migrate the mic.

  • If you can spend a little more on headphones, get the Senheisser 419s, 439s, 518s, whatever you can find on sale. Essentially, more comfort and better build quality.

  • Another viable option, and if you want two birds with one stone, get the Kingston HyperX Core for $55, Hyperx Clouds for $75, Cloud 2s, Pros for $78, etc. They're known for their comfort; decent pair of headphones. Benefit is you won't have to wait for shipping as long as ordering from China.

    ***

I only recommend such, as written above, because you will appreciate the sound quality and difference these can bring to the table. You might be spending a little more, twice/thrice more even, but you're looking at an exponential difference. If you're in no rush, wait for them to go on sale and capitalize on the moment.

In terms of closed/semi-open/open, that's subjective. But its well known that open headphones provide the wider soundstage, which, for instance, will help with locating sounds, like footsteps. But again, to each his own.

Note: I don't recommend the Monoprice 8323s because of their discomfort and build quality. Unless you're willing to spend extra on pads, and have a very tiny head, these headphones will most definitely give you comfort issues. It's certainly not for those who wear glasses.
Owned a pair myself, headband snapped in 3 months of use. Could've used that money to save up for my next pair. IMO the Superlux 681s are better than the 8323s, and cost less/the same.

Take a look at the HyperX cloud. Been getting a lot of buzz for quality (build and sound) and is at the same pricepoint.

I've been watching these for a while as well and have seen them around $80-90 as well. Granted, I primarily shop Amazon and NewEgg, but this does appear to be a price drop. Not the lowest, but a drop:

I have had this Hyper X for 2 years now and they have been nothing but amazing for me. Great sound, good mic quality and easy to use.

u/caticuss14 · 2 pointsr/PS4

The HyperX Clouds are pretty good (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KX3TLF4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496807260&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=hyperx+cloud&dpPl=1&dpID=41KFerym3bL&ref=plSrch). The HyperX clouds have a little box on the cord that you can switch the mute on/off and adjust volume. They also have a new version: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SAYCVTQ/ref=psdcmw_172487_t1_B00KX3TLF4 . I haven't personally used the second version but apparently they have better audio quality. And you can't go wrong with the PlayStation Gold headset. It has the app so you can fiddle with the bass, treble etc. I personally prefer how the HyperX clouds feel on my head (the gold headset feels heavier but that may just be me).

u/BejitaMarius · 2 pointsr/gaming

Honestly... Ide go for the new Hyper X headsert. Those things look really comfortable and the reviewa are great. PLUSSS Amazon is having them on a massive sale. 159.99 down to 65.99 or something.

I use the ($60) [Logitech G430] (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104847) w/ Sennheiser Splitter cable, it really needs a splitter as audio is too low without. As for features, it sounds like any other headset nothing special, but it is more comfortable with it's softer earcups. I heard of someone using an adapter from turtle beach to get full 7.1 out of them as they are advertised to offer 7.1, but only on PC. I've never tried adapter on PS4:

But, I also heard alot of good things about HyperX, I think this is their first gen pair($68)

And last but not least the PC fav,Kraken($70)

A bit of advice on any headphones you choose(if you plan to use microphone function), you would do well to have some audio splitter cable as audio improves dramatically. For example, my G430 came with an adapter that ran through USB, but audio was so low it was worthless. Also, pretty much any headphones should work on PS4 with an adapter or Splitter cable, but splitter is a better solution, just stay away....far away from anything branded "StarTech" as they are usually recommended or shown "bought together" on Amazon, they seem perfect cuz their cheap, but I used a splitter adapter from them and it was DOA.

u/docodine · 2 pointsr/headphones

the hyperx cloud is solid, plus you won't need a separate mic (this one is detachable)

other recommendation is the CAL 2. you'd have to get a pretty cheap mic though

u/MACgh · 2 pointsr/CoDCompetitive

Sentey has good reviews. Great bang for your buck.

This is a great deal too, in white.
I would stay away from turtle beaches and astros unless they're on sale somewhere. I have the same Astros I got in 2011. My next pair will probably be Sennheiser or HyperX. Astros are ridiculously overpriced.

u/Prodeje79 · 1 pointr/RedditTryHard

I said I would post next time I noticed there were back in stock. As most of you may know, I have and have tested many headsets.

Every other week or so, Amazon Warehouse deals will have more of these in stock. Right now there is a decent selection of white and black models. Note these are used, which means they are customer returns of sorts. THis is within 30 days of receiving.... If you can get over that fact and disinfect them, you are getting a great deal. Worst case, Amazon has a great return policy, including free return shipping based upon the reason you select for the return. They say they have a scratch on them, but I couldn't find one on mine. I really didn't care either way though..... they were totally mint even though the description said very good.

I've had mine for a few weeks now and really like them. Of course, this is my opinion, but go out and look at reviews at Amazon and other places. It works perfectly with my Astro Mixamp.

I just got the HyperX Cloud headset and so far its awesome. but I read a few reviews saying that its much much better with a soundcard. So I was wondering what would be the most cost effective (cheap) soundcard I could get that would work well with this headset.

Yes, I know where the noise is coming from lol. When I have on noise cancelling headphones everything reverberates in my head.

I have a pair of headhphones though HyperX Cloud and they aren't too bad. It's tolerable. I've just been looking for something wireless in that same area.

u/BoxOfBrokenCondoms · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Not the Stinger version. Just says HyperX Cloud This one

u/Kerry56 · 1 pointr/headphones

Hyper X Cloud is a well regarded gaming headset. Should work for this purpose too.

u/Kum0 · 1 pointr/PS4

Buy a HyperX Cloud! Had one for 2 years and no issues.

Better then the gold IMO.

Is cheaper and better quality build and super comfortable during long play sessions

Hyper X Cloud

u/chouetteonair · 1 pointr/headphones

Some that get recommended often are the SHP9500S with a V-Moda BoomPro at 108 USD, and the HyperX Cloud at 80 USD.

You can also use a ModMic, but the price for quality seems eh.

u/admiral_agbar · 1 pointr/xboxone

Do you game at a desk, or on a couch away from your tv? If you game in a living room and your xbox is farther than an arm's length away, the only option would be the A50, A40 with the M80 (non virtual surround) or some of the turtle beach options, as those are technically "wireless" (yes, I understand they have to be plugged into the controller for the most part).

If you game at a desk, I would recommend buying the mixamp pro or TR by itself and literally any pair of headphones not made by TB or Astro. Something like a hyperx cloud which has a mic and much better sound quality overall than any "gaming headset".

cheap headphones with decent reviews These seem to have decent reviews and the cost is well below your limit. I personally use and would recommend the HyperX Cloud headphones. They are nice but at the upper end of your $70 limit.

u/DestinysLostSoul · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I have one sent from Kingston to complete a RMA. Once I received it, I tested to make sure it works and have left it in the box since I have upgraded to a new set up. If interested in it, I can get you photos tonight. Before the RMA of the old one I had, I used it flawlessly with PC and XB1. Let me know if you're interested!

u/Canadiancookie · 1 pointr/headphones

I'm looking for a gaming headset with decent sound quality and a mic. So far, this seems to be the best option for me.

Budget: <$100 Canadian Dollars not including shipping

Source: Desktop PC and an old iPod touch, maybe a Galaxy S5 later

Requirements for Isolation: None, preferably some/a lot

Will you be using these headphones in public? Probably not, depending on the cost

Preferred type of Headphone: Full sized

Preferred tonal balance: Don't care much. Balanced I guess

Past headphones: Cheap but decent sony headphones (one of which i'm currently using) and a logitech h540, the worst pair of headphones i've ever had

Preferred music: Don't care

What would you like to improve on from your set-up: Actually having a mic, decent sound quality, comfortable, lasts for at least a year. May be asking for too much, but hey, a man can dream

u/ArBrTrR · 1 pointr/hoggit

Great responses thanks. I really want a headset as I really want the convenience of having my input/output all-in-one.

I think I've narrowed it down to two contenders really.

u/There_Went_The_King · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Amazon has Hyperx Cloud on sale for 60 dollars right now.

The mic is detachable, it's a steal at 60.

u/herogerik · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'd highly recommend the Corsair Vengeance 1500, the HyperX Cloud, or the Logitech G430.

The Razer Kraken has a known history of not having all that great of audio quality and also has one of the worst built-in mics. I've tested all four of these headphones and the 3 I linked to are much better quality and cheaper!

If you want to use up more of your budget for the PC, you could move the gpu to a GTX 1070. But for 1080p a GTX 1060 is fine. This has a 6-core Ryzen 5, 16 GB ram, a nice case, high quality psu and an SSD.

There are many options for the remaining components, in all price regions. Some default options:

This Kingston headset is currently on sale.

As well as this Logitech headset

I personally own the G35s, and they are a fantastic headset, though the connection is USB. But from what Ive heard, they still work on PS4.

u/jrizz43 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Best under $100 headset here!

u/nocley · 1 pointr/headphones

Since I'm kicking off a crapton of travel the next few months, may as well invest in something good.

From sampling a friends and the reviews I've read, the Sennheiser 598s would be perfect, both comfortwise and sonically...except I pretty much need something closed because the sound leak is too high.

Let's just get into the details:

  • Budget - Sub $300 USD ideally, but flexible
  • Source - Android Phone / iPad
  • Requirements for Isolation - I need a decent amount. All my listening is around other people - Work and Traveling.
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Full Sized preferred
  • Preferred tonal balance - Neutral or V
  • Past headphones - My current setup is just a few pairs of $30ish IEMs that I've kept around at my desk. I can't tell what the branding is because I've had them so long, but I know for a fact that they aren't any major brands. I've struggled to find any good non-iem headphones that really fit me comfort wise. I have a large head (7 3/4 hat size / 24" ) that makes things difficult. On the computer, I have a gaming headset here that is either falling off my head, or squeezing the crap out of my temples with my glasses on. I've also previously had this headset, which was decently comfortable, but broke from streching the headband.
  • Preferred Music - Mostly Noise/Experimental/Lo-Fi stuff. Stuff like At the Drive In. Outside of that, solo singer/songwriter stuff.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Something I can wear easily for 4+ hours at a time. Both IEMs and gaming headsets I have are too uncomfortable once I cross the two hour threshold. While I'm putting good money into this, I may as well get some better sound quality.

I'm leaning towards the M50x, but I haven't found enough reviews comfort wise, and honestly that's the biggest thing for me for not using IEMs. With that being said, the A900x seem a bit better comfort wise, but the isolation decline and price increase make me unsure.
u/saprazzan · 1 pointr/buildapc

Have you built this mobo up before? Wondering if an audio card is a worthy investment or if onboard will be fine. Any thoughts? I'll be primarily driving headphones, but I can't seem to find much feedback online

u/Twilit_Night · 1 pointr/gaming

My roommate and I both have the HyperX Cloud gaming headset, and it's amazing. It's $100, and by all accounts, I don't think you could do much better at that price. It's usable on most platforms, I believe. I personally use it for PC and PS4 gaming.

I'm also pretty sure it's going for $80 on Amazon, so that makes the deal even sweeter. I hope this is close to what you're looking for!

u/Useralias · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'm looking for something I can save up for, that being said my budget is flexible as long as it isn't insane also I already have a headset picked.

u/RollstuhlRambo · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I like the old hyper x clouds better they are of better build quality and are much more comfortable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KX3TLF4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_sA5Byb1868JCK

They are usually a bit lower than they are currently though.

Comfortable, and won't break the bank. A little trouble with sound leaking though.
