Try the german amazon or uk amazon. Also german mindfactory has it cheaper than 318.

Handling & Shipping at mindfactory is 30 euros, amazon may be cheaper.

IMO getting pc parts from germany/uk/every other european country is only beneficial if you buy alot of components e.g. cpu, gpu, ram, motherboard, psu etc. The price difference can be around 10~40 euros on every product, making the 30 euro shipping meaningless

For short, go either with the german amazon, the uk amazon, mindfactory and check geizhals for cheapest price. Geizhals is kinda like skroutz but for germany/austria

The menu is laggy, i played two games my fps were at 10-80.
Its extremely laggy even at low texture settings :(

Hilariously, the link that you gave me is in pounds, not dollars. So it's not 950$, but 1328$. (it's more expensive)

  • 17.3" screen, big as fuck - how are you going to carry that around?

Seriously, I tried to draw it next to my sketch for the MBP 13" size. It barely fits on the paper. I really can't think of any reason why I would want to buy such a big laptop...

  • weights almost twice
  • MBP has 2560 x 1600 res, what you linked me has 1920 x 1080. It makes a big difference on the price
  • HDD and not SSD, which also increases the MBP price

For example, if you want to get the 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD model it's going to cost you £1,133.16 (1601$)

  • no customer support where I live, I would have to ship it if I wanted a replacement
  • bad battery life
  • bad build quality

You linked a more expensive machine, that weighs almost double (so it makes a really crappy carryaround laptop) with far worse build quality and no customer support in my country. What makes it so good? The processor and graphics card? What if I told you I don't play games?

It's completely fine if you prefer to use different laptops, or use them for games, but I and a lot of other people don't. If I wanted a machine for gaming, I would build a desktop. For me, laptops are meant to be lightweight and easy to carry around, have a long battery so I wouldn't have to charge it every time I use it and small enough to fit in my backpack. The MBP 13" does all of that.

To be fair, I am not even sure I would ever suggest the device that you linked to anyone. It's expensive, really big and weighs a lot. Not to mention there's far, far better options out there if you really want a laptop for gaming.

    -----------------

By the way, I was wondering how much the processor, RAM and the graphics card cost alone.

  • £243.50 - Intel Core i7 Quad-Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Processor CPU
  • £199.99 - Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 Strix GDDR5
  • £57.28 - HyperX Fury 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 2133 MHz DDR4

    Total ~500£ (706$). 44% of the price.

Now, onto the MacBook Pro 13"

  • ~£140 processor
  • ~ £65 ram
  • integrated graphics

    Total £205 (290$). 26% of the price.

Note that I didn't include the screen or the battery, which will also cost quite a bit. Look at how much the actually hardware costs and think about how much of your money goes towards reliability and build quality.

Sure if you're talking about desktops, that might not be much of an issue (because you build and house them yourself). But for laptops - it's a really big deal. You don't really want a shitty build laptop that will fall apart, because you aren't going to replace the casing.

  • Locked i7, since you said you don't want to overclock. you could go to an i5
  • B150 board because you do not need OC support. However, if you want to have the option to use two gpus with SLI, then we need to upgrade that to a Z170
  • Cheaper ram, since DDR4-2133 is the maximum of that board
  • Added in a HDD, since you said you already have a SSD. I would not get another 250GB SSD, either a bigger one or a HDD to really have space
  • The R5 is a bit better than the R4, and you have the money for the small price increase
  • A lot better psu
  • Windows 7, because it can still be upgraded to Windows 10
u/haswelp · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

This should do nicely for you. There's room in the budget to swap the i5 6500 out for an i7 6700 if you feel like you'll get use out of it.

Hey thanks for the input, bit of a novice here; but way to late trying to piece this together. I wanted to get all the orders in soon so they arrive by the 26th.

Is this the CPU you would recommend?

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0136JONG8/?tag=pcpapi-20

(I7-6700 FC-LAG14C 3.40 Ghz 8 M processor)

I do plan on rendering possibly a lot of videos for work in a month or so. I'm unfamiliar with the power required to do this.

Also I don't really need to overclock, but I guess it would be nice to have that option in case it's ever needed.

u/IronManMark20 · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

Might want to lower that price a bit, one can buy new for $305 on Amazon. FWIW.

u/SMQRSKEET · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thanks for that utility. I am looking at it now. I have selected this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0136JONG8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE as I won't be overclocking and can spend the extra £50 on something else. Good to know about the cooler and paste.
I'm changing a few things around. Thanks again for your help.!

u/Raimon86 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hey man. There's a lot wrong with this build. To start, if you're not overclocking, scrap the processor, it's an old one and go for this one...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0136JONG8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482787139&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=i7+6700+processor&dpPl=1&dpID=411v0MvpCaL&ref=plSrch

It's far superior and because it's not overclockable it's supplied with a stock cooler, so you can scrap the aftermarket cooler you've gone for.

I'm on mobile, but I'm sure 100% sure you can get a much better build for the same budget, someone else here not on mobile will be able to do that for you. If they don't remind me and I'll have a go when I'm back home.

u/FueledByADD · 1 pointr/PC_Builders

More cores are better. If you have a good mobo, go with the skylake i7. I just got this 6700 that is on sale for $249. I haven't seen it his low yet, but I've only been watching for a few months. I also have a Z170m Mortar board I use it with and I couldn't be happier. Using a guide on the web, I OC'd it to 4.4GHz and it's stable. I didn't want to go too crazy, as this is my first computer.

Just my two cents...

Just a tad over budget but you can easily bring it down to $1400 if you feel like it by going with an i5 for $200. And I have the optical drive needed to install windows, etc. With this GPU you should be more than good for now and the near future. glhf!

Cool. I'll go without a cooler for now so and might get one along the line.

May be easier for me to the one I have now as a lot of the places do not ship to Ireland.

Thanks for the suggestions and help! This is not available in 27", is it? Is TN your preference? If I was to get an IPS, would you have any recommendation on that?

Since I'm going with a 1070, should I be leaning towards 1440p?

Also, one last thing, Are these products the same? It'd be cheaper for me to get it from another region on Amazon.

If you want an i7, there is the option of getting the 6700, non-k version. Like this Prices may be cheaper elsewhere, and the base clock of the non k version is slower, you do get the 8 thread performance of the i7 if that's important to you.

u/KexyKnave · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thanks, is there an i7 you'd recommend? I was originally going for the 6700K and H100iv2 cooler but that's an extra $200 ish or more on my build and I might have to wait ~1 or 2 months to have that extra. If there's stock cooling that comes with it it might be worth it for the time being and O/C later.

edit: $100 more for this but it'd be an extra $100 for the cooling. The unboxings I've found on YT don't have any stock heatsink or anything.
The regular (non overclockable :/) version comes with a heatsink/fan and I can probably use the fans in my current case I just don't have any faith in the liquid cooling. link

u/iPreferBeingCalledSB · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thanks for this build recommendation. I prefer this more, mainly due to the Skylake + DDR4 combo.

I know I am being paranoid, but I really don't wish to see myself struggling to find an affordable RAM upgrade a couple of years down the line only because I chose DDR3 over DDR4 :)

Are there any mid-range Xeon's that I can look for in Skylake? I have absolutely no experience with (and even past information about) Xeon's, to be frank. I always thought that Xeon's were only useful to Servers and places where they'd run some fancy scientific experiments (I can't believe I just said that; I'm a software engineer, specifically working in Windows Drivers! Ahem, we all have our times, you know!)!

I see that [Skylake Xeon E3-1245v5] (http://www.amazon.in/CPU-Xeon-E3-1245v5-3-50GHz-LGA1151/dp/B015T3YEZ4?tag=googinhydr18418-21&tag=googinkenshoo-21&ascsubtag=4acda459-0475-9729-f316-00003a3bf654) costs around 400 USD in my country. That is still quite expensive and costs ~30 USD more than [Core i7 6700] (http://www.amazon.in/Intel-LGA1151-Socket-Turbo-4-0Ghz/dp/B0136JONG8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1463859407&sr=1-1&keywords=i7+6700) in my country (~370 USD). Any reliable source where I could compare Xeon's and Core iX processors based on different usage scenarios? I saw articles like [this] (http://www.velocitymicro.com/blog/xeon-vs-i7i5-whats-difference/) and [this] (http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/workstations/xeon-e5-2600-1600-workstations-desktops-uncore-prod-brief.html), but practically how much would it affect me if I were to buy a similarly priced Xeon versus a Core i?

I must apologize a big time here. Looking at the prices on Amazon.com (USA) versus my country (India), everything is anywhere between 30-70% higher in price at my place. So, a rig you'd suggest at $800, with similar parts in my country goes well above $1000 (currency converted). So I have kind of started looking at mid-ranged parts as well (which would include a Core i5, say). I'm sorry for being blunt here, but that's the kind of approach I've to keep it only because of the price differences I continuously observe and my bad that I started that with a [PCParkPicker List] (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZVpFJx) in USD but didn't mention my country!

u/Sumguy121 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Wow... thats really awesome man. Unless I'm mistaken though, the 1060 Mini graphics card is the only one that can fit in my Mini-ITX case. Plus, it's damn cheap. It keeps open, the option to upgrade in case the 1100 series is much more powerful than the 1000 series.

I did consider the i7 as well, but it comes in at a $100 premium over the i5.

edit: Most vendors here in India quote outrageous markups, not to mention the customs duty and taxes amounting to ~44%. So, really $1600 build in the US is more like a $2,300 build here... It doesn't allow for a dollar to dollar comparison
