It is magnetic so if you are trying to quickly grab your phone and slap it back into place that can be done as if it is not even mounted. It works very well imo

This is the mount if anyone is interested. I tried a few different suction cups/air vent mounts and none really worked as I wanted.

The magnets are strong, and the phone doesn't move/jitter around whilst driving.

i have this . Slightly expensive in my opinion but good quality.

Works well for me in my Hyundai. you have to stick the magnetic plate, either directly on the phone or inside of your case. The magnet is strong and phone sticks even on bumpy roads.

One of the major advantage of this is it gives me access to the power and volume buttons.

This one worked for me with my S7E. Haven't tried it with my S8.

You basically just need one with a lot of strong magnets. Most of them skimp on magnets since they're expecting you to use it with a metal plate.

Wonderful product. It’s tiny too so it fits nicely and doesn’t cover too much of the buttons

I personally don't like the vent mounts, but love the magnetic mount concept. I also don't use optical media, so seemed like the perfect use for my CD slot.

I remember it being cheaper, and the one downside is it doesn't seem to work in all CD slots equally - works great in my car, not at all in my truck. I would avoid this thing tho, it broke within a week.

I found the vent mounts were the same, did not work equally in all vehicles (different vent designs work better than others for a mount).

Edit - found a cheaper one that looks similar to the one I have.

I use a CD mount and I love it. I have an iphone 6, but it can hold my ipad mini too, so I am not concerned about getting the 7plus. I love it. I also bought a 1.5ft lightning cable and its the perfect length when connecting to the charger port below the radio in the cubby.

I have one that sits in the CD slot. I don't even own a CD anymore so no problem. It's magnetic so the phone slaps on and off quickly. I love it.

I've liked the vent mounts but the positioning of the vents in the MINI make it difficult to read the screen on either the right or left of the wheel.

I just picked up a CD mount that's magnetic and I am loving it so far. It makes reaching the right most radio buttons a little tough but doesn't completely block them. All in all it was inexpensive so even if I didn't like it I didn't mind giving it away.

depending on your air vent this one is ok, go for the one that goes in a CD slot - this is a million times better than the air vent one

I have a magnet mount on my CD player. Just slap the phone on it, looks like a gps from outside of the car, best 20 bucks I ever spent.

Honestly not worth having to worry about the port breaking your phone incase someone mistakenly jerks it or pushes on it.


I got this for my 2017 and is much better than the TechMatte one as the screw for it would block the screen a bit.

Currently if I have the phone mounted it still blocks the view but I can remove it for complete visibility.

Yes, I just started using one. People recommended the "iOttie", but I found one that is magnetic and includes little metal plates that you can stick to your phone or case. I put mine on the inside of my case, and it works fine:

Easier to just "throw" it on the mount, than to use some clamping cradle, and certainly much cleaner looking while not in use...

While it's not a dock, I use this for my car and it works great. The magnetic plate (it comes with 2) holds it on there real solid.

This thing is perfect. It stays in just the right place to not block buttons too much and who wants their phone in front of a vent? Was recommended to me here when I asked the same question.
