That is an awful deal, you do not want the G750M version and that is just overpriced as all hell.

Check out This Y510p. It has dual GT755M's on SLI, and doesn't come with the old network card that everyone had issues with, and it's still cheaper.

It just doesn't come with as much RAM, which is a bit overkill anyways.

The standard recommendation for a gaming laptop around $1000 is the Lenovo Y510p i7 version. It has an i7 4700MQ processor, 8GB ram, 1TB HDD, GT 755M SLI GPU, 1920x1080 15.6" screen all for $1050. The graphics performance is roughly equal to a GTX770M, which would cost much more on another system. This is the best performance per dollar you'll find.

For your needs, I cannot recommend this enough.

It blows away ANYTHING in its price range. It's got SLI GTX 755m, which means it has TWO graphics cards in it. That means that it outperforms even the new 860m cards that just came out in a lot of aspects. It's extremely powerful for the money.

The processor is top notch and it has 8gb RAM, which is more than enough for what you want.

Do not spend more money on the ones you linked. Get this one and you will love the shit out of me. :)

Judging by your gaming requirements you're going to need to up your budget by $500ish. Even at those pricelevels it's usually low weight VS performance, pick one.

Thank you a lot for your recommendation, I know that Laptops are subpar compared to a gaming pc in general I tend to play games as I've been a gamer since I was a child but I move around a lot in the world and I rather buy my own place before I build my own customized pc for gaming.

What games? League of Legends, Dota, Sc2, WoW etc.. I really don't care much about graphics but more about gameplay aslong the game runs fluidly and steady without it lagging due to frame drops I'll be content!

I use a lenovo Y510P. It does well. 2.4GHz core i7, 16GB of RAM, and dual 2GB GeForce video cards. when costco carried it you could get it with 16GB of RAM for the same price. this one only has 8GB of RAM but still in your budget.

I would look at y510 with dual 755m's config. As long as your stay plugged in you'll be good. It is well under your budget.

I just looked it up on Amazon and I couldn't find the single card edition, but I did find a dual card i7 edition laptop that's ~$1020. And there's also a link to an i5 if you want to save $75.

Here's the i5 edition.

Desktop graphics is the best option for the Rift. A modern desktop graphics card like the GTX 660 which runs around $200, or GTX 750 and above will run Rift demos like gravy.

The most important thing is going to be the graphics card, RAM and hard drive space are easily upgradable and won't effect gaming performance. CPU can help for physics in games, but the CPU's in most modern computers will be perfectly fine.

All the desktops in this newegg search should have no problem running Oculus demos at 60fps.

As for laptops, I have a Lenovo y410p with a GT 755M and and a MSI GT60 20C with a GTX 770M and both can run Oculus Demos Adequately, though neither can run them as well as my Desktop which has a GTX 660.

If you want to most graphics bang for your buck, I would recommend the Lenovo y510p, which has two gt750M's in SLI, however I don't think Unity Oculus demos run in SLI. If you really want to be able to latop Oculus demos well though, you're gonna need a beefy graphics card like a 770m or 780m, both of which are going to be weightier, and have loud fans.

Also, this is only considering the current Oculus Dev kit. For the consumer version, you may want to get the beefiest GFX Card possible, we'll have to see if it can perform decently on the Mid-range graphics cards.

I have the Lenovo Y510 and I absolutely love it! Though be prepared to carry the charger everywhere because it will not use the 2 gt 750 graphics cards if it is not plugged in. Other than that its a gaming power house for the price I got it for ~$1000. This one is very similar to mine.

An intel core i7 with the GT 755m SLI is decent. Can run games by Blizzard and Valve maxed out generally (Dota 2, Starcraft, WoW, Diablo, CSGO, TF2, etc) Shouldn't have too much trouble running Dark Souls at a decent quality/frame rate (considering it's 30 cap) Will struggle Witcher 2 with any sort of sampling turned on.

Edit: I shopped around, and there is definitely not a laptop that can come close to the graphical power of the Lenovo Y510p in the $900-$1300 dollar price range. I may consider a single GTX 860m a small step up, but you'd pay around $200 to $300 dollars more.

More edits: IT IS missing an optical drive slot, you'll need an external because that slot is being taken by the extra GPU. The lenovo Y510 is pretty slim and light for it's hardware power, but runs quite hot. You might want to look into cooling pads.
