Currently planning a build and I've been looking at ultra wide monitors. I don't want to spend huge money so I was looking at this LG one : https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BFH194W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=202TUED2C3KO7&coliid=I2CTECXX20F8KQ&psc=1

My question is if I decide on this monitor would I be better getting an RX480 or GTX1070. Is FreeSync worth getting the AMD?
Don't think it matters but I'll be getting an intel i7 7700k.

Here's my setup I think it would like quite similar to what you want. I have a LG29UM68 and a LG23MP68VQ mounted on a 1home Double Twin Arm Desk Mount and it fit perfectly, no need for any DIY. I love it, just my only issue is the monitors at different height which I can't fix. But overall I highly recommend this type of setup

As for monitors, this is a good value 1080p ultra wide: LG 29UM68 29" Ultrawide IPS Monitor (2560x1080, 2x HDMI, DP, ) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BFH194W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UWBEzbJCXFPEG

I am also looking for a similar monitor as I'm building a PC for working on 3D software/adobe and video editing but also for gaming, at the moment one of the ones I have found to be pretty good - https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-29UM68-29-Inch-Class-UltraWide/dp/B01BFH194W?ie=UTF8&tag=pcp0f-21 - watched some reviews and comparisons which show it to be pretty amazing for creating content and really good for gaming. The obvious downside is the refresh rate being slower but it is expected with IPS.

I bought older 67 for 280€ like a year and half ago. Look at some more sites and you should find it for cheaper.

I would checkout the LG 29UM68 its now down under £240! So will leave you £20 for beers and snacks.

I'm looking down the same path as you, not sure if to go 24' 4k monitor are coming in around £280 for a base models but seeing the price drop on Amazon for the 29' LG @75Hz I think its made the decision a no brainer for me now

Okay, so if I went with this monitor instead, would it make any difference?

Its still has FreeSynch, but its not curved (not to mention half the price for the same size).

Sorry for the, probably very simple, questions. Just trying to get my head round it.

u/Beehj84 · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

Save the extra 50 quid for this monitor IMO.

Definitely agree with Pomodragon against getting a 25inch ultrawide. It's a poor choice IMO. 29" ultrawide or bigger.

u/KingGadz · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

I like that suggestion. However, since I'm in the UK, it seems that all tech over here costs so much more so I may have to only get a 29" version, but is this the kind of thing that you had in mind?

Thanks /u/JSFeliciano013

That monitor's about 4 years old, and LG doesn't produce it anymore. I think this is their up to date one. If you've not tried ultra-wide I highly recommend it! But it can be expensive...

This is the monitor LG 29UM68 29 inch Ultrawide IPS Monitor (2560 x 1080, HDMI, DisplayPort, 250 cd/m2, 5ms, AMD Freesync) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BFH194W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ermnDbE4NERFZ

As for the PC the Core has a GTX1070 and it's hooked up to an early 2018 Razer Blade Stealth 13"

u/SCB360 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

So I am thinking of getting a widescreen Freesync monitor (possibly 2 to still have a dual monitor setup) to go with the RX 480 I'm buying later this year,

The one I've been looking at is:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BFH194W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3IOTNS2ZEBYMM&coliid=I60D6E7EWL35I&psc=1

Any recommendations?

u/Alljump · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

Beat me to the punch. I agree it's not the deepest discount but if this is the monitor you want I don't see the point in waiting. I bought the 25 inch one earlier this week as a second monitor.

Just a note for other readers that the discount expires at midnight tonight UK time.

Thanks for the reply, this was the model I was looking at https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-29UM68-29-Inch-Class-UltraWide/dp/B01BFH194W?ie=UTF8&tag=techchap-21 the reviews seem consistently good, I just didn't want to sacrifice performance for a bigger screen and sharper image.

u/SplendidScorpion · 1 pointr/battlestations

How long have you had it? What games do you play with it? Which monitor did switch from?

I've been considering going ultrawide for the last 2-3 months but not sure if I want to sacrifice my 144hz for it. Don't really want to spend £600+ on one that does both.

Been toying with either the smaller/cheaper LG - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01BFH194W or paying more to get 34" with Acer https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-34-Inch-ZeroFrame-Adjustable/dp/B078JB4291

I’m looking for a monitor under £300 to replace my Samsung T22D390 (which is 24” 1080p 59hz). Which one of these would you recommend (I have an rx580 and a Ryzen 5 1600)?

Client resolution is set to 1680x1050. Very nice monitor for my multi-tasking needs.
