When I used to work long hours it was the best solution and I only empty it once a week. Twice/three times if it got too stinky but that hardly happens. When I got a second cat into the mix it was an even bigger help. Good investment. It also helps when going away for weekend trips. Never have a worry while I'm away.
I'm on my second one (original one was bought at a Walmart for $80 and died after a little over a year bc it was cheap). This one though is much more powerful and picks up more stuff. So I would say yes if you could bring an outlet to the wall, it would be worth it.
Also, don't buy into the replacement receptacles. I just put a plastic bag from the supermarket over it so their waste goes right into the bag. I just then pick it up and toss it away and the replace with another one. Definite money saver.
Since your cat is all hung up on having a clean litterbox at all times I suggested getting one of those Littermaid self cleaning litterboxes.
