That's what I used on my surface pro 1 until the release of the power cover. I found mind on sale for 20 bucks. Its a solid keyboard, and the cover it ships with can be folded to act like an impromptu kickstand, which is great for phones or small tablets.

Small, odd layout (?/ on left of keyboard, |\ -_+= and especially ' " relegated to Fn keys is especially annoying).

I got this http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-U6R-00001-Wedge-Mobile-Keyboard/dp/B008OEHPKM and have been pleased.

Oh yes there's a ton of keyboards like this. If it has to have an integrated stand for your tablet or phone, check out this one but otherwise this one is generally regarded as the best ultra-portable keyboard.

Ofc none of these are mechanical though, just fyi

A friend recently showed me the Microsoft Wedge keyboard. I'm considering getting one myself...

I've tried it with my Nexus 5 (running KitKat) for some minutes, it worked quite good.

I wouldn't take jeans at all; SEA is pretty uniquely suited to anything BUT jeans in fact, since it's humid, hot, and rains often, which are all things that heavy cotton denim deals with badly. I really prefer to take synthetic or light cotton pants.

As for sneakers, I'd go for something light that dries quickly. Others might recommend waterproof, but I have big fat sweaty feet and I'd be fighting a constant case of swamp foot if I didn't have good ventilation. If it rains, I just deal with wet feet until I get where I'm going and then let my shoes and (light wool) socks dry overnight.

As far as something to write on, it depends on your budget and how much you want to haul around. If you want a full blown word processor and computer in a small form factor, I would argue the top of the line would be a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. But I'm partial to the platform.

Personally though, I would just use my phone or any small tablet (like a Nexus 7). Microsoft Office Mobile is FREE to mobile users, and I highly recommend pairing it with the Microsoft Wedge keyboard. It is small, light, easily packable, uses bluetooth, compatible with every device I've tried it on (android and iOS), has great battery life, runs on easy-to-find AAA batteries, and the cover doubles as a univeral tablet or phone stand.

I have a Logitech KT810 keyboard that I LOVE. It's almost full sized, has great feeling keeps, I can pair it with up to 3 devices at once, has backlit keys.

Of course the downside to that is it's not as portable and it doesn't have it's own stand.

I also have a Motorola BT keyboard that has a cover that folds into a stand. It's smaller, but still pretty comfortable to use. And always having that stand ready is nice. I got mine at a BB clearance sale for $20, so of course I love the heck out of it. Not sure what I think of the Amazon price though, seems a tad expensive.

The Microsoft Wedge keyboard might be a better choice since it's only $50. I've played with one at a MS Store and it seems pretty nice. Kinda small though, but that's a pro and con.

And of course there are pretty cheap $20 BT keyboards around that maybe you could buy and use until the Nexus 9 BT Keyboard/case comes out. Which might be what I'd do if I didn't have so many BT keyboards already.

Here is the keyboard. It has no 1 stars and has over 90 5 stars, seems like a legit keyboard.

u/dannomite · 2 pointsr/Surface

I've been using (and liking) the Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-U6R-00001-Wedge-Mobile-Keyboard/dp/B008OEHPKM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396401092&sr=8-1&keywords=bluetooth+wedge+mobile+keyboard). When I'm using it, I can place it where it's comfortable to type. When I'm not, I just move it aside. The downside is that because it uses bluetooth, that can reduce overall battery life.

u/Jairou · 2 pointsr/tablets

Half the price on Amazon.

I use the Surface to read manga/comics. The 16:9 aspect ratio isn't ideal for landscape mode, but portrait mode is useable if that helps. Also, I have a Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard, which comes with a stand that can be adjusted at more flexible angles. I often use it to read comics while having breakfast. If you're laying down on bed, or sitting back at the sofa, I think it's good enough for reading despite being heavy.

First off, "$100" not "100$"...

I think as far as portable Bluetooth keyboards go, the MS wedge is my favorite. It's super compact, but has all the symbol and punctuation keys you would need for programming. Comes with a cover which can double as a stand for just about any tablet. And they're way marked down these days.

I'm using the Microsoft Wedge Mobile Keyboard. It's bluetooth and works great, but its just a regular keyboard. I brought the Microsoft Designer Mouse with it. They are both low profile and are can easily slip into my purse or bag, they both are travel friendly. I've decided to use my SP3 as a home laptop though, and buy a S3 to take with me on the go.

This one is $71, alot cheaper than the rest.

Assuming this is the same commenter as in the review, thanks for sending to Reddit, and for pointing out the measurement error. I've been on the road and away from our content management system, but I have seen the live review and this has been killing me all weekend.

I'm going to wait until I'm back in the office tomorrow morning to remeasure and update. I remember it being more than the 10.1-inches Microsoft lists on that page you linked above. Amazon lists 11.7, which sounds accurate, and closer to "roughly 1.5 inches long," which I believe is what I meant to write.

Any bluetooth keyboard will work. Of course whether they're any good is something else.

The Mobile Wedge Keyboard is Microsoft's own third party keyboard.
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-U6R-00001-Wedge-Mobile-Keyboard/dp/B008OEHPKM

It's not Surface specific however.

I have a friend who plays on the PS3, he says this keyboard is amazing: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-U6R-00001-Wedge-Mobile-Keyboard/dp/B008OEHPKM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1374023387&sr=8-2&keywords=microsoft+wedge

It's a pretty decent price for the quality. If you plan on playing with a keyboard and mouse, it's probably not the right decision. But if you are playing primarily with a controller, and just typing with a keyboard, it's definitely a good option. If you have the money to invest into one.

I've been using the Microsoft Wedge Bluetooth Keyboard for several years now. I think it's been discontinued but you can still buy it on Amazon and some other places:

https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-U6R-00001-Wedge-Mobile-Keyboard/dp/B008OEHPKM

It takes two AAA batteries and they last forever. It comes with a flexible rubbery cover that can double as a phone/tablet stand - I use it to prop up my iPad. The keyboard turns on when you remove the cover and it turns off when you put the cover back on for storage. I use it to touch type and it works very well.

This Microsoft Keyboard has excellent reviews. Though so do a number of different keyboards, it really depends on what functionality you're looking for (number pad, key spacing, etc).
I actually have a full size USB keyboard that I wouldn't mind throwing into my backpack. With the amount of space I save with the SP3, a full keyboard really could be useful. And you'd look hella weird if you pulled it out in class or something.

u/Orangematz · 1 pointr/laptops

What you're looking for exists, but not within the $30 range. Example here.

If you wish to spend less, this may appeal to you.

I use this one for my surface pro 1 when I take it to class, works really well. (I also use this mouse with it)

The keyboard has a nifty cover thing that turns it off when its covered and back on when you take it off.

I have both the Dell case and one of these

http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Dell-Venue-Windows-Shell/dp/B00GZNCP3G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398347382&sr=8-1&keywords=Dell+venue+8+pro+case

The case from Amazon is great for the money but I like the Dell case best because when you fold it under the back and basically use the tablet upside down, the viewing angle is just right. The Fintie one is cheap and it feels like it but the Dell case is certainly over priced, problem is that it works best for me so far.

If you want a great keyboard, look at the Microsoft Wedge, it's small but useable and the cover can be used as a stand for any tablet.

The Microsoft Wedge mouse is a great armchair mouse and has 4 way touch scrolling. It may look tiny and awkward to use but it's really pretty slick, especially to toss in a bag and go.
