I purchased this Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller and it worked with my iPhone.

u/wforsythea · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

I don't see that particular listing but it sounds like a wireless controller without a dongle but that does include a cable so you can go wired.

This would be an example controller which includes the dongle.

Ok, well you've persuaded me. I'll try kb+m this week and look at controllers. My MB is an older MSI Z170A with no bluetooth so I'd need some like this Wireless XBox Controller for W10 I suppose? Seems like most don't like the Steam controller, right?
Oh and BTW, how the hell was I supposed to learn on my own where Cave Sulfur can be harvested without looking it up, lol? After having one of those bastards come at me I stayed away from it's "nest" for a really long time and was so confused as to why it was so hard to find. I'm an idiot I guess. :)

i have the standard xbox gamepad BUT with the wireless adapter.

The controller also connects via bluetooth (for android etc), but via wifi adapter is so much better on windows, you can even connect the headphones in the gamepad and even have virtual surround using windows sonic or razer surround.

but beware the dpad position on the xbox is different than usual (ex. dualahock4), most users dont like that, i mostly use the dualshock4 but wired.

Altought i played deadcells before with the xbox gamepad in 5BC, and in the 2nd day using it (with no xbox gamepad experience) i reached astrolab smoothly, the dpad surprised me, despite being weirdly positioned is very good.

p.s.: the bonus of having the xbox gamepad in windows is .. its compatible with EVERY game, with the dualshock4 i have to use third party apps for compatibility sometimes, the best one being steam (ex. you can launch emulators or non steam games with steam and steam gives full support to any gamepad)

Yep, its an xbox one controller, the one that comes with the adapter on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078T3R8YS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kjSCDbBPHZGT2

Here is the new adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0785RHK5Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1527220329&sr=8-14&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=xbox+wireless+adapter

And here is a bundle that includes the new controller and MAY include the new adapter (pics show both): https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B078T3R8YS/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1527220329&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=xbox+wireless+adapter&dpPl=1&dpID=41RYx-4dTaL&ref=plSrch

Both controllers work with the Xbox wireless adapter or USB - this form of wireless is what's used in Xbox consoles, supports all the features (unlike Bluetooth, as I mentioned above), and is far more reliable IMO.

You do also have the option of purchasing a Bluetooth adapter for your PC, they're about the same price as this adapter, but if you're getting it purely for the controller, I would definitely go with the Xbox wireless adapter for the reasons I mentioned.

We only play together on the Switch.

There is a bundle with Xbox One controller and a wireless adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B078T3R8YS/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

Which is a better deal, this with the controller alone, or this, with the controller and wireless adapter together?

u/bushmaster2000 · 1 pointr/oculus

Get a wired Xbox One controller. Or if you want no wires, you will need to get a wireless xbox one controller plus the Microsoft wireless adapter dongle whch can be bought separate or in a bundle like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078T3R8YS/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_6gJPCb43V71DC

Personally I used a Razer xbox one controller, walmart had them on clearance and i picked one up works like a champ but the one i have is wired.

That adapter can work with ANY wireless xbox one controller, and uses the same purpose built wireless the xbox one uses. It allows for better connection than bluetooth IMO.

Some/newer xbox controllers have bluetooth IN ADDITION TO the wireless system mentioned above. These can be connected to a variety of devices without the adapter, but then you have to deal with the shortcomings of bluetooth also.

That bundle includes the adapter AND a new style controller with bluetooth. So you can us it both with the adapter (which you should) but also you can pair it with other devices via bluetooth if needed.

The best 'it just works' options are the Xbox One Controller and Xbox one Elite controller. Either will plug in via USB or go wireless via the PC dongle (which you can buy in a pack with a controller) and the newer models of the regular controller (they don't have the shiny black part at the top and they have a headphone jack) will connect via bluetooth as well. The current Elite controller doesn't support Bluetooth but the upcoming one is supposed to. NOTE: Xbone controllers suck down batteries like you wouldn't believe in wireless mode. If you're gonna go wireless with an Xbone controller, get rechargeable batteries and something to charge them with! The wireless Xbox 360 controller works with Windows, but to make it work you'll either have to get a wireless dongle (these used to be sold in a pack with a controller, might still be available) or get the special Xbox 360-controller-to-USB cable. Wired 360 controllers are plug & play. PS4, PS3, and Switch Pro Controllers will work, but you've got to do some futzing around either with third party drivers or with Steam settings to make them work. Actually most console controllers can likely be made to work with some effort, but they're generally not gonna be plug & play solutions. Then there's third-party PC and Xbox controllers. You get what you pay for with these, cheap controllers tend to break easy. And I had a Logitech F710 for a while, its D-pad sucked and it's the most uncomfortable controller I've ever used, it's worse than a Dreamcast controller lol. And then there's the Steam Controller. It's certainly powerful and unique, but really damn hard to get used to. It's not what I'd call plug & play because even though you can just plug it in and it works, you're gonna be making all sorts of adjustments to the settings in steam to get it dialed in if you go this route.

Personally, I use the wireless Xbone controller with the pc dongle with energizer rechargeable AAs, and charge them in a Nitecore D2.

The Xbox Controller is your go to. It fits nicer in the hand, it works right out of the box with Windows and any game that supports pad, and most games are going to feed you Xbox button prompts.

u/Kuroyama · 1 pointr/Vive

That doesn't sound right... here's the official Xbox 360 one for around 50$

But anyway yeah the Xbox One one + Windows adapter also works if you have Win 10 (and slightly cheaper)

u/IVLEEEG · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

You may want to rethink that controller price. It's $49 on amazon, new.

u/french_panpan · 1 pointr/xboxone

> $500 builds are close in terms of GPU(rx570/gtx1060),

RX570 is at 4.8~5.1 TFLOPS, XB1X is at 6 TFLOPS and gets console optimization, so your build should aim for something above a RX580.

> you can often get a one x for ~350 or under so the one x still wins out

If you want to compare PC and console budget for budget, don't forget to really include the full PC cost of the whole PC brand new, because :

  • In a console you get everything brand new.
  • Not everybody has an older PC with parts worth reusing, so it's not a fair comparison for everyone to count your old stuff for free.
  • The cost of a "gaming OS" license; if you skip on Windows, you should count the hours of setting up Linux and Wine as if they were billable hours.
  • Don't forget the peripherals, you get a shiny new controller with the Xbox, but the fancy RGB mechanical keyboard doesn't come for free with the custom PC, so you should either put the same controller in your build, or some keyboard&mouse that you would actually use and not the cheapest $10 KB&M pack that you can find.
  • If you want to compare current real price of PC parts, then compare it with current real price of console that are often discounted few years after release (got my Xbox One at 150€ in 2016, the promotion was coming back once every 2-3 months).

    > But at MSRP, you get a more capable pc(albeit probably not a pretty one lol)

For my current desktop, I paid more for just the case+PSU than I paid for my brand new Xbox One back in 2016, so yep.

Xbox controller + Wireless adapter $50

Mine came in this morning.

Edit: love how I'm downvoted for refusing to pay $400 to play a $60 game.
