they're cheap so if you're going riding, just use fresh ones and bring an extra pair. You'll have more fun riding because you won't get tired as quickly and you'll protect your hearing (which can't be fixed once you break it)

edit: any music or navigation/communication is better handled by speakers in your helmet. In-ear headphones and such will just get jostled/loose and they don't block out the wind noise effectively

Spark Plugs. Way better than anything you can get at a drugstore.

I'd recommend these for anyone looking for earplugs to sleep with

+2 for Moldex ear plugs. I run the "Spark Plugs" variant here for over a decade and they're great. Very comfortable, fit in small ear canals, greatly diminish the road and wind noise.

They have them for the production floor where I work, and that's where I discovered them. They work really well for me, and have some of the highest noise reduction of any earplugs I was able to find. Properly inserted these things make basically any speed comfortable.

Good disposable earplugs. I have a box for riding.

I use Spark Plugs, but they also amplify some noises. I bought this pack of 200 like two years ago and it was a great investment.

I use them because one time I got a bug in my ear and it was quite disgusting. Also my boyfriend snores really loudly, but that's a secondary reason.

Trash trucks come several times a day, and they love coming in the middle of the night (1-3am) while banging those huge metal dumpsters. IMHO, there is no way to have a good night sleep downtown for light sleepers. I can't wait until I move in the middle of nowhere with no road and no neighbors for miles so I can sleep well! /rant

Extremely comfortable, and 'reusable' a few times (probably not very sanitary, though). I keep handfuls in my range bag, rucksack, truck, car, etc.

Won't help with Netflix, but I own these earplugs (yes, the 200 pack, lmao) and I swear by them. They won't completely muffle noise, but they do help a lot.

You can also put yourself in your own private sound bubble by popping in earbuds and then putting a pair of these over them. Not the comfiest thing in the world in the long run, but for an hour or two it works very very well in my experience.
