The only problem you may have to flash the BIOS to get it to work with the brand new CPUs. Alternatively you could just get a Ryzen 2600 instead for like $150, but it'll be 20% slower, but work out of the box.

Your old RAM won't work anymore. You'll need DDR4. At minimum 8GB, but preferably 16GB.

So would you recommend the ASRock B450M Steel Legend or MSI B450M Gaming Plus

If you're still wanting this, I was about to buy a 2600x and a B450m Gaming Plus mobo on Amazon last night for almost the same price. I think the motherboard in this combo is a little better so I'm glad I saw this, but I don't think you'll be unhappy with that B450 if this one would've fit your needs anyway.

It says most MSI 450 boards have a BIOS flash button and doesn't require a CPU, just a flashdrive with the update. Wouldn't that work?
